The office door stood ajar, allowing the distant echo of high heels striking the floor to reach Xiao Yichen’s ears. Upon recognizing the sound as Bai Lu’s, he swiftly stowed away his documents, stood up, grabbed his coat, car keys, and phone, and proceeded toward the door.

Bai Lu lingered by the entrance, catching sight of Xiao Yichen emerging. Unable to enter the office before him, she patiently waited.

Lin Wan, without intention, glanced around the restaurant between courses. Her eyes inadvertently met someone at the entrance.

Xiao Yichen, accompanied by Bai Lu, was entering the dining area. Upon spotting Lin Wan, he casually scanned the room and registered a clear surprise.

The moment their eyes met, they were surprised.

Lin Wan watched helplessly. She only withdrew her gaze once Xiao Yichen and Bai Lu vanished. Her heart, by now, ached profoundly.

It seemed Bai Lu held a unique place in his heart.

Lin Wan resumed conversing with Katie and Sally while awaiting their meal. Midway through their dining experience, Lin Wan excused herself to the restroom.

Upon standing before the mirror, Lin Wan’s thoughts remained fixated on the image of Xiao Yichen and Bai Lu together. Her mind refused to settle.

Their relationship appeared close, and Xiao Yichen cared deeply for Bai Lu.

Lin Wan lost track of time as she stood before the mirror. She snapped out of her reverie when her legs began to feel numb. A few steps helped restore circulation to her limbs, and she headed back toward the dining area.

Unexpectedly, Lin Wan collided with Xiao Yichen’s chest upon exiting the restroom.

Startled, Lin Wan halted abruptly, mere inches from Xiao Yichen’s chest, and managed to steady herself.

“Why are you here?” Lin Wan asked in surprise, simultaneously attempting to create some distance.

Xiao Yichen observed Lin Wan’s actions and promptly extended his long arm, ensnaring Lin Wan in an embrace that prevented her from slipping away.
