Chapter 1208: Volume 7: Across the Human World Chapter 1203: Battle of the Star Palace (4)
Almost simultaneously, a flash of green lightning appeared above the jade vehicle, and Han Li’s figure mysteriously emerged. Without saying a word, his sleeve flicked, and dozens of small golden swords darted out like fish swimming, transforming into streaks of golden light. They descended like a torrential rain, enveloping the entire jade vehicle beneath them.
“Break!” The middle-aged Taoist’s face changed drastically. He immediately shouted and pointed a finger at the Eight Trigrams Mirror hovering above his head, activating the treasure.
Instantly, a black-and-white beam of light shot out from the mirror’s surface, and with a flicker, transformed into a spray of fine threads, directly entangling the golden streaks.
The moment the two forces clashed outside the green glow, continuous “puff puff” sounds rang out!
The flashing golden light of the small swords cut through the threads as effortlessly as slicing through withered branches.
Seeing this, the Taoist was startled. Before he could react, the flying swords struck the green sphere of light protecting the jade vehicle.
The same scene unfolded: the green glow only briefly resisted the golden rays before being pierced through. The golden streaks surged directly toward the two individuals inside the jade vehicle.
At this, both the dragon-named elder and the Taoist turned pale with fright.
The two simultaneously turned into streaks of light, abandoning the jade ship beneath their feet. Transforming into dazzling streaks, one green and one white, they shot off in opposite directions, swiftly dodging the beheading strikes of the golden swords by mere inches.
The middle-aged Taoist, as his body soared through the air, slapped a certain spirit beast pouch on his waist. A clear screech echoed from within, and a bright white bird, roughly the size of a ruler, spiraled out of the pouch.
The bird had emerald green eyes, a crimson beak, and jet-black talons.
The Taoist felt a sense of relief when the bird appeared. Fumbling inside his sleeve, he retrieved a crimson command token, its surface glowing red with densely-packed runes emerging faintly.
However, before he could activate the token, a spatial ripple appeared above his head. Accompanied by a flickering green arc, Han Li emerged once again.
Han Li snorted coldly as he glanced downward at the Taoist. His eyes began emitting a brilliant blue glow.
The panic-stricken Taoist frantically attempted to activate the treasure in his hand. Suddenly, his Divine Sense felt like it had been pierced by a sharp awl, sending excruciating pain through his skull. He screamed in agony as blood trickled from his ears and nose, and the command token trembled in his hands, nearly slipping from his grasp.
Taking advantage of the moment, Han Li flicked his fingers, sending five crimson threads shooting forward in a flash. In his other hand, green light flared as a Green Wooden Ruler materialized, which he swung lightly toward the white bird.
Under a blaze of crimson flames, the five threads pierced the immobilized Taoist’s body. They then coiled around him, transforming into five thick fiery cords that bound him tightly!
The Taoist, enduring the intensifying pain in his mind, momentarily regained consciousness. Seeing his predicament, he turned deathly pale. Unable to move a muscle, he desperately activated his spiritual sense to command his spirit bird to rescue him, but it remained unresponsive.
In his panic, the Taoist glanced sideways and discovered a silver lotus of light hovering above the bird without him noticing.
A radiant seven-colored Buddhist glow emitted from the lotus, enveloping the bird and rendering it rigid mid-air, as if bound by an invisible force.
Filled with shock and anger, the Taoist was still struggling to formulate his next move when a gust of wind swept over his head, followed by a golden ray that slashed down like lightning.
The Taoist let out a final cry before his severed head tumbled to the ground.
Han Li appeared with the wind, raising both hands without hesitation. Thunderous booms erupted as he shot out massive golden arcs of lightning, which quickly wove into a golden net, covering the headless body. The web sparkled brilliantly, radiating an extraordinary aura.
Immediately, Han Li began chanting softly. The fiery cords binding the corpse suddenly flared up, igniting scarlet flames that reduced it to ashes in an instant.
At nearly the same moment, a ball of white light emerged from the flames. Enveloped within it was the Taoist’s Nascent Soul, brandishing a white ceremonial ruyi, as it attempted to flee in desperation.
But the soul collided head-on with the golden net.
With a deafening crackle of thunder, the electrified net repelled the Nascent Soul. The net expanded with a burst of golden light, unleashing arcs of lightning as it shattered completely.
In the blinding flare of electricity, the Nascent Soul was instantly obliterated.
Han Li exhaled softly before coldly glancing toward the other side.
The dragon-named elder had already fled over forty meters away. Just as he retrieved two green cymbals from his waist with apparent hesitation about returning to confront Han Li, he witnessed the Taoist’s death.
The elder’s heart sank like a stone, and he became chilled to the bone!
When Han Li’s gaze swept over him, the elder suddenly waved his hand. With a flash of green light, the razor-sharp edge of a cymbal sliced off his own arm in one motion.
The severed arm exploded with a resounding “bang,” engulfing him in a mist of blood. Almost simultaneously, a piercing shriek arose!
The blood mist enveloped the elder, transforming him into a faint bloodshadow that streaked away. With just a few flickers, the shadow had escaped over a hundred meters, its extraordinary speed shocking even Han Li.
Han Li narrowed his eyes in contemplation. Hesitating briefly, he watched as the bloodshadow vanished into the radiant haze, leaving no trace.
Han Li stroked his chin, shaking his head with a hint of regret on his face.
It seems this one did indeed possess some esoteric abilities, employing a technique closely resembling Bloodshadow Evasion. Still, it wasn’t worth expending significant effort to pursue him. Heading to Heavenly Star City remained his priority.
With that thought, he glanced at the spirit bird still ensnared by the Eight Spirit Ruler. Flicking his fingers, a streak of golden sword light zipped forward, circling the bird before slicing it in two, killing it instantly.
Such spirit birds, cultivated with the host’s blood since infancy, could not be tamed by others. Han Li naturally would not let such a bird live.
Afterward, Han Li transformed into a streak of blue light, heading straight for Heavenly Star City.
Flying at full speed, it only took a brief moment before his light pierced through the restrictive formation of the Wind Fire Extinction Array and entered the massive island.
His figure paused slightly, hovering as he cast a distant glance at Heavenly Star City.
The city’s towering, immense walls were shrouded in a thick, faint blue light barrier,
while massive red and green radiance clashed above the barrier without pause, generating continuous earth-shaking thunderclaps.
Han Li’s expression shifted slightly before he swiftly dashed toward Heavenly Star City without hesitation.
In just a few flashes, the blue streak stopped before one of the city gates, halted by the blue light barrier.
The Star Palace cultivators behind the barrier naturally noticed Han Li’s presence at that moment. Following a sharp, piercing whistle, over a dozen Star Palace cultivators of varying heights appeared atop the city gate, casting wary glances at him.
They were baffled. If Han Li were a Starfall Coalition cultivator attacking the barrier, why did he come alone? Yet if he had another origin, how could anyone possibly arrive outside Heavenly Star City after it had been blockaded?
With his spirit sight, Han Li could clearly discern the expressions of the cultivators at the gate, even from a distance.
He said nothing but flipped his palm, revealing the Guest Elder Token of the Star Palace he had received in the past. With a wave of his hand, the token floated toward the barrier, stopping right at its edge and hovering there.
A stir broke out among the cultivators at the gate. The higher-ranking cultivators scrutinized the token intently, until one of them paled and turned to speak hurriedly with the others. In an instant, the group collectively displayed astonished expressions. One of them hastily retrieved a Sound Transmission Talisman from his robe, sending a fiery streak inward toward the city.
Next, the same cultivator produced an Array Plate-like artifact, quickly forming seals with his hands and activating it with a few gestures. Suddenly, a voice emanated clearly through the barrier:
“Are you Senior Han? Please, forgive us! Given the current circumstances, we dared not immediately allow seniors entry. However, a Sound Transmission Talisman has been sent to the Palace Master. They will personally arrive shortly.”
The words bypassed the barrier and reached Han Li through the Array Plate.
Han Li raised an eyebrow but simply nodded faintly, standing motionless with his hands behind his back.
He didn’t wait long. After only a brief moment, three dazzling streaks of light shot out from within the city, streaking toward the gate. They descended with a flash, revealing three figures.
Two were men, and one was a woman, with the latter standing in the center, clearly the leader. The woman’s striking beauty and features gave Han Li an uncanny sense of familiarity.
It was none other than Ling Yuling, now dressed in her feminine attire once again.
The two men beside her included a yellow-robed cultivator in his thirties and an elder with white hair and beard. Together, they gazed toward Han Li at the barrier. Meanwhile, the gate guards all stood respectfully aside, hardly daring to even breathe.
“It’s truly Fellow Daoist Han! Wonderful! I was worried you wouldn’t make it!” Ling Yuling’s eyes sparkled with excitement as she instructed the other cultivators, “Quick, disable the barrier so that Han Li can enter the city!”
The yellow-robed cultivator hesitated, his face reflecting doubt as he cautioned, “Palace Master, are you certain about this? Can we truly trust this person? If the Starfall Coalition dispatched someone impersonating him, it would be disastrous.”
“Rest assured, there’s no mistaking him. This Guest Elder Token is uniquely crafted, and there’s only one like it in existence. Moreover, given this individual’s abilities, no one in the Scattered Stars Sea could single-handedly claim such an item from him,” Ling Yuling said confidently, shaking her head.
Hearing her explanation, the yellow-robed cultivator hesitated no longer, slowly nodding in agreement.
With Ling Yuling’s assurance, the gate cultivators no longer hesitated. Retrieving formation flags and array plates from their waists, they activated their artifacts in unison, sending beams of light into the barrier.
