Chapter 271: 137 Insect Race Swarm Explosion! (Added Chapter)
The suspended taxi wildly sped along the small farm road, rushing toward the edge of the underground base.
The chaos within the base did not last long. When Nardo stuffed the backpack into Hera’s hands, the light in the depths of her eyes quickly faded, and she collapsed to the ground, gasping for breath.
Nardo immediately tried to help Hera up.
Professor Pat suddenly stepped in, pinning Nardo against the wall with a gaze so sharp it seemed it could pierce through Nardo’s face.
“What in the world is going on?”
“If I knew what was going on, I wouldn’t have let this backpack out of her reach!” Nardo growled.
Professor Pat stared into Nardo’s eyes.
More figures wearing protective suits appeared in the corridor, silently watching.
“The queen influenced me.”
Hera suddenly spoke up.
Her petite body seemed so fragile under the pressure of the Mechanical Guard’s iron grip.
Hera said, “This is my other reason for coming here, Professor. Do you remember the experimental sample that I swallowed during our conflict?”
Professor Pat let go of Nardo, glanced around, and looked down at Hera.
“Everyone leave, send a squad of Mechanical Guards here,” Pat immediately said. “Hera, I must isolate you now.”
“I understand. I’ll lie here motionless. Don’t let my backpack leave my side,” Hera said calmly. “This backpack is soaked in pheromone disruptors. It can influence the microorganisms inside of me.”
“Microorganisms?” Pat frowned. “Is it really cluster life form information?”
“What we see as bugs might not be the actual form of the bugs, or perhaps, they’re just part of the concept that is the Space Worm Clan.”
Hera closed her eyes, speaking quickly:
“I still haven’t figured out the phenomenon happening to me, how it’s actually implemented.
“But clearly, I had similar symptoms on Ao Star. The queen Mother Worm could directly control my body, which suggests, I’ve achieved cross-domain communication with the Mother Worm.
“Now, I am like a defective larva of the Insect Race. It’s wise to isolate me, but before that, I’d like to have a look at the Mother Worm.”
She slowly lifted her gaze toward Pat:
“I’ll go there with my backpack. Afterward, I’ll comply with all of your experiments.”
“That’s impossible.” Pat stepped back two paces.
“Professor!”
“No,” Professor Pat resolutely shook his head. “We can’t repeat mistakes. If there’s a problem, we must cut our losses. I will place you in a separate space with a strong magnetic isolation, where it’s proven that larvae cannot communicate with the Mother Worm.”
Nardo quickly objected: “She might be correct…”
“Shut up!”
Professor Pat shouted, “You’ve caused enough trouble already! Dr. Nardo!”
“Yes,” Nardo said, hand on his forehead, a buzzing in his ears.
Two Artificially remotely controlled Mechanical Guards began to lift Hera up.
Hera clearly exhibited anxiety, continuously calling out:
“Professor, I need to see that thing. I’m certain I can make a breakthrough in this field.”
“Father, Dad! I must unravel the mystery within me… If it can affect me, why has it only started affecting me recently!”
“You can’t control the Insect Race! This will brew disaster! I’m the proof! I’m the best evidence!”
A powerful sedative needle appeared behind Hera’s neck, and the injection was quickly administered.
Hera’s eyes slowly closed as she was carried by the Mechanical Guards towards the distant isolation room.
The backpack fell to the ground, picked up by the Mechanical Guard following behind.
Professor Pat raised his hand to his forehead, opened his mouth as if to say something, but just stared in the direction Hera was taken.
Experimental personnel from various departments gazed in the direction Hera was taken, the news of the ‘Insect Race infection’ already spreading, sparking some panic among them.
Dr. Nardo seemed to have weak legs.
He leaned against the wall for support, but his body uncontrollably slid down to a seated position, as if sinking to the seabed, even breathing proving difficult.
The atmosphere in the corridor grew even more oppressive.
The experimental personnel began to return to their workstations one by one.
Professor Pat sighed faintly: “Nardo…”
Boom!
The base suddenly shook.
Professor Pat’s face turned a shade paler, the red warning lights on the wall began to flash rapidly.
“Professor Pat! The Mother Worm has suddenly awakened and is striking the culture dish!”
“That damn bug!”
Professor Pat cursed, grabbing Nardo and forcefully pushing Nardo’s shoulder.
“Start working! This is the only way to save your daughter’s life!”
“Okay, Professor,” Nardo’s voice regained its calm, “I’m on my way back.”
Boom!
The base trembled slightly again, safety gates began to rapidly fall, and a large number of Mechanical Guards rushed toward the location of the Mother Worm’s culture dish.
But this time, what the human workers inside the base did not notice was that although the Mother Worm was reacting violently, the ordinary bugs were merely trembling uneasily instead of rampaging or triggering the laser turrets’ automatic fire.
Fine cracks appeared on the large metal cover of the Mother Worm’s culture dish, and those cracks were rapidly widening.
Above the base.
Outside a fenced-off charred farmland, the suspended taxi hid in the shadows of a metal shed.
Yang Ming sat quietly in the back seat, his breathing somewhat heavy, showing no other signs of abnormality.
In fact, Yang Ming was almost struggling to kick open the door, dig through the soil, and seek out a decisive battle with those bugs!
Damn it, did the Space Worm Clan steal the larvae of the ancient gods? No, that’s not right; the Ancient God Life Forms don’t reproduce, they couldn’t have larvae.
