Chapter 274: 138 Hunting Time
Space ripples appeared, and the transport ship emerged in the desolate Star Domain.
No one knew if the Mother Worm had some special ability, as the transport ship’s jump coordinates had unexpectedly landed in a remote gap within New Federation territory.
There were no patrol fleets nearby, nor any traces of interstellar civilization.
The transport ship’s engines went dead, and the hull displayed obvious cracks. The forced jump caused the spaceship’s main engine to begin crumbling, and more than ten technicians held hostage on the bridge died from massive internal bleeding.
This seemed to be within the Mother Worm’s calculations as well.
Inside the transport ship, the Mother Worm lay prostrate on the ground, as if exhausted, exuding a foul-smelling mucus.
Several dozen special adult bugs scattered throughout the transport ship seemed to be fulfilling some mission. Mucus seeped from the joints of their armor, permeating the ship’s deck and quickly spreading throughout the transport ship.
Those larvae that died from the intense gravitational pull during the jump drifted toward the cosmic space like scattered sand.
The rest of the surviving larvae moved toward the cracks of the ship, where the queen was located on the bridge, rapidly encasing the ship’s front.
Yang Ming quietly observed this scene.
The blood-red color in his eyes receded once more, and the pinnacle of his desire to kill transformed into absolute calmness once again.
At this moment, there was no rational or irrational thought.
He only wanted to kill the bugs in front of him.
“Boss, the Mother Worm has begun assimilating the transport ship. It is expected to complete preliminary assimilation in half an hour and initiate a second jump. It can’t escape the New Federation Fleet’s pursuit.”
Lyu’s voice remained light-hearted.
Yang Ming secured the straps of his multipurpose flight pack tightly, extending his right hand to the side. Under the incredulous gaze of 026, he pulled the laser rifle from her hands across the air.
“Begin transmission.”
“Yes, beginning transmission!”
The inverted pyramid-shaped Particle Transmission Machine trembled lightly.
Yang Ming crouched down, and with a burst of intense light that converged, his figure vanished.
026 rushed to the control console, looking at the projection screen locking onto the transport ship below.
A burst of intense light flashed, and Yang Ming appeared in the midsection of the transport ship, faint flames emanating from his gray-white exoskeleton armor as he directly crashed into the outer armor of the transport ship.
026 didn’t forget her job; she was already seated at the newly added seat before the fire control console.
Lyu’s voice sounded, “Release electromagnetic interference.”
Above the transport ship, Feinan showed a faint outline, and a circle of eye-invisible wave patterns spread below.
Electronic devices throughout the transport ship powered off instantly.
One by one, the bugs looked upwards.
Lyu, “Fire the secondary guns.”
“Repeat, fire the secondary guns,” 026’s voice was slightly tense, but her hand movement pressing the button showed no hesitation.
Feinan disengaged Optical Stealth, and the three secondary guns at its bottom unleashed deep blue ion beams simultaneously.
Not far in front of Yang Ming, a triangular hole was torn open in the transport ship’s deck, and large volumes of gas dispersed outward.
“Boss, the bridge has been cut off by the Insect Race. You’ll need to break in by force. The simulated gravity field has been restored, allowing close-quarters combat. You have seven minutes.”
Yang Ming raised his hand to press the external button on his tactical helmet, his slightly hoarse voice resonating on the Feinan bridge:
“Record battle data.”
“Affirmative.”
Feinan resumed Optical Stealth.
Yang Ming remained standing, waiting.
If he rushed towards the breach in the transport ship immediately, he’d be blown away by the escaping gas, wasting time and the flight pack’s fuel to come back.
He only needed to wait for ten seconds or so.
Yang Ming counted silently in his heart.
The deck trembled slightly, with a few larvae clinging onto it with long legs, pouncing toward Yang Ming.
He aimed the gun and pulled the trigger.
A sweeping light screen stretched before Yang Ming, as several larvae dashed more than ten meters while enduring the Light Bullets. Their bodies were mostly blown away before they ceased moving.
These were merely prematurely hatched basic larvae, only half a meter in length.
Evidently, the laser gun’s lethal effect was quite limited.
Against low-rank bugs, explosive damage and kinetic damage would be more effective.
The gap in the transport ship’s hull appeared covered with a membrane like asphalt.
Yang Ming flung the laser gun behind him, gripping two Light Swords with both hands, his body leaning slightly forward.
Flames shot from the flight pack downward, but then immediately redirected, concluding in two rapid breaks, hurling Yang Ming straight into that thin membrane!
Thud!
This was the sound Yang Ming made upon crashing into the inner compartment of the transport ship.
On the screen before 026, images appeared that left a deep impression on her:
In the narrow, empty cabin, a figure clad in gray-white armor stood silently, flanked by an overwhelming number of terrifying bugs.
The bugs did not swarm forward.
Instead, the space around Yang Ming continuously expanded.
His hands slightly trembled, and a deep purple and a chilling red light sword blossomed into blades.
Turning to face the direction of the bridge, the bugs made a gurgling sound. Unwilling to retreat, the small triangular heads emitted a thick green glow.
The Mother Worm decided on a last stand!
Suddenly, the bugs surged forward!
Several faint, laser-like beams erupted amidst the chaos, shooting toward Yang Ming’s head!
Hum–
The full-body triggered shield activated.
Flames burst from the flight pack.
Yang Ming wielded the two Light Swords in opposite holds, his body curling, leaping, the Light Swords swinging in the broadest arc forward, and he plunged into the swarm directly ahead!
Blades and limbs flew, and green blood splattered.
Two Second Rank basic adult bugs fell simultaneously, leaving massive gashes on their hardened bodies.
