Chapter 303: Chapter 303: Before Fleeing, Chen Bao Wants to Give a Big Gift to His Worthless Dad
The other side.
Hospital, inside the ward.
Ning Yichu stayed by her daughter’s side the entire time. After coaxing her to sleep, the anxiety that had been weighing on her heart finally began to ease.
Looking at her little girl’s innocent face, Ning Yichu’s thoughts once again turned to leaving.
And the sooner, the better!
Action preceded reason, and she simply began checking flight tickets.
Mo Baiyou had just returned with warm water. As his gaze casually swept past, he noticed her screen and nonchalantly asked, “Chu Chu, are you planning to go to Country A?”
“Su Huimiao and the Li Family are ticking time bombs. I don’t want Ningning to get caught up in their mess again.”
Nearby, Chen Bao’s eyelid twitched slightly.
No matter what, he’d always stay by his mommy’s side!
As for his scumbag dad…
Hmph, a man who couldn’t even control his vicious grandmother? Completely useless!
“Mommy, I want to go with you.”
“Chu Chu, I’ll go with you too,” Mo Baiyou’s deep, mellow voice followed immediately.
Ning Yichu looked at the pair–a big one and a little one–in astonishment.
She could understand Chen Bao. Although he was nominally Li Lingyang’s biological son, Li Lingyang would likely figure out the truth about their relationship soon enough, so taking him away made sense.
But Mo Baiyou…
“Mr. Mo, you’ve already helped us so much during this time. I can’t trouble you any further. Besides, Beiji’s development in Imperial City is going well, so there’s no need for you to…”
“It’s not for you. There’s already business in Country A, and the jade carving exhibition happens to align perfectly with my plans to study abroad there.”
Of course, these were just excuses.
When one truly loves, how could they ever settle for just being friends?
How could he feel at ease letting her–a woman–take two children to such a distant foreign place without ensuring their safety?
Ning Yichu found herself speechless and caught off guard.
Indeed, it was Mo Baiyou who had told her about this jade carving exhibition in the first place…
…
Li Lingyang smoked a cigarette on the rooftop, then made his way down to the ward.
He arrived just in time to see Mo Baiyou and Chen Bao accompanying Ning Yichu as they stayed by Ningning’s side, resembling a picture-perfect family of four…
The soft sunlight trickled in, bathing the room in warmth and quiet serenity. It was such a peaceful and beautiful scene that one couldn’t bear to disturb it.
A heavy weight settled on Li Lingyang’s chest. He had the impulsive urge to barge in–just to take Chen Bao away, even if it was only to create some chaos for them. But doing so would only make Ning Yichu hate him even more.
Forget it…
Hold back for now.
Lingering unwillingness flashed across Li Lingyang’s eyes as his gaze swept reluctantly over the petite silhouette before he turned and left the hospital, heading towards the police station.
On his way, he made a call to his secretary.
“Xiao Chen, head to the mall immediately and buy some food, drinks, daily essentials, and gifts that can lift the spirits of both adults and kids. Deliver them to Bo Ter Hospital, but don’t disturb them.”
Within half an hour, Li Lingyang’s personal secretary had gathered the items and delivered them to the ward.
The already cramped space instantly became even more crowded.
Ning Yichu was on the verge of losing it.
Li Lingyang had already left, yet his presence remained hauntingly persistent.
“Lady Ning.” The secretary, a seasoned professional, spoke respectfully, “President Li mentioned your current mood is not good. He specifically asked me to deliver some daily essentials and little trinkets, hoping the little young master and little miss would enjoy them.”
Ning Yichu replied impatiently, “How much was it? I’ll transfer the money to you.”
“Lady Ning, please don’t put me in a tough spot.” The secretary wouldn’t dare accept money from Ning Yichu.
With a quick excuse, he left promptly.
“Secretary Chen, wait!” Chen Bao suddenly called out to him.
Secretary Chen bowed with a polite smile, “Little young master Chen Bao, do you have any instructions?”
Chen Bao’s ink-dark eyes gleamed with icy danger. “Are you heading back to Li Group now?”
Secretary Chen nodded, “Yes.”
“Perfect. I need to see that scumbag dad of mine. Take me to the Group to wait for him.”
Secretary Chen knew that Li Lingyang had been trying to mend their relationship, so he welcomed the opportunity with open arms and agreed instantly.
Ning Yichu wasn’t sure why her son, who was about to leave for Country A with her, would suddenly visit Li Group. She worried–what if he ended up being detained by Li Lingyang?
“Chen Bao…”
“Aunt Ning, don’t worry. I’ll be back soon.” Chen Bao winked his large eyes at Ning Yichu, pursed his soft lips slightly, and resolutely followed Secretary Chen out.
If they were leaving Imperial City anyway, as his father’s son, he might as well bid his scumbag dad goodbye in his own way.
Ning Yichu, knowing her son had a mind of his own, let him go, focusing her attention on taking care of Ningning.
A few hours later, Ningning, who had been lightly asleep, woke up.
Her complexion had visibly improved compared to earlier.
All her vital signs were stabilizing…
“Ningning, you’re awake? Is there anywhere you still feel uncomfortable? Do you want some water?” Ning Yichu asked gently, her tone filled with concern.
Ningning shook her small head.
She wasn’t as fragile as her mother assumed. The events of today were entirely due to Su Huimiao infuriating her.
“I thought I heard voices while I was half-asleep. Mommy, where’s brother?”
“Your brother had something to attend to.” Ningning patiently explained to her daughter, “Ningning, Mommy has a question for you.”
“Mommy, ask away.”
“Are you willing to go to Country A with Mommy?”
With Ningning’s vital signs returning to normal, flying should no longer be an issue. Plus, as a doctor herself, Ning Yichu could care for her along the way.
Ningning blinked twice. “Will brother come with us?”
“Yes, not just your brother but also Uncle Mo Shuai will join us as well.”
…
The black Rolls-Royce quickly pulled up in front of the police station.
The driver respectfully opened the car door for Li Lingyang.
The sharply dressed man strode forward with his long legs, walking through the lobby and hallway straight into an office.
Special Assistant Xu and several others observed Ji Shiwang through the one-way glass.
“How is it going?” Li Lingyang asked.
Special Assistant Xu replied, “We’ve already informed Ji Shiwang about the Ji Family’s bankruptcy. When she heard the news, she broke down emotionally but still hasn’t disclosed anything…”
“Seems like the stakes aren’t high enough yet…”
Li Lingyang said coldly, “Raise the stakes further!”
“Understood.”
…
Ji Shiwang had been confined to a detention room for two days and one night without sleep, and her appearance had become utterly haggard.
Especially–
Special Assistant Xu had just informed her that her father, overwhelmed by the stock market losses, the betrayal from the company’s directors, and the colossal debt of 820 million, had suffered a stroke and was hospitalized.
For years, Mr. Ji had been the sole pillar sustaining the Ji Family’s position in Imperial City. If he were to collapse, everything would completely unravel.
Madam Ji, accustomed to a pampered lifestyle, was utterly incapable of surviving independently.
What could she do… What could she do…
Ji Shiwang hated Ning Yichu deeply, but she couldn’t ignore her family’s welfare.
Did she really have to reveal the truth?
Yet her heart burned with bitterness and reluctance.
Why should she pave the way for Ning Yichu?
The detention room door slammed open with a loud “clang” as uniformed, stern-faced police officers entered and unshackled her from the chair.
“Ji Shiwang, come with us!”
Her heart tightened as though gripped by an invisible hand, leaving her breathless. “Go? Where?”
