Chapter 660: Chapter 661: Cold and Cruel Killing Field
Su Shu was groggy and felt as though she had dreamt a dream.
In the dream, she could always hear the sound of dripping water by her ears.
She felt she was walking through a cave, the entrance narrow, only wide enough for one person to pass through.
Listening to the dripping sound that seemed to be just ahead, she cautiously moved forward, guided by the faint light within the cave.
The sound seemed to be getting closer, and just as a burst of light was about to appear before her eyes, she suddenly found herself waking up amidst a mountain of corpses and a sea of blood.
The air was thick with the stench of blood, limbs and broken bodies were everywhere, and even those that were intact seemed as though they had been savagely torn apart.
Although she did not scream out loud, her face was very pale.
Staggering to her feet from the bloody mess, she suddenly saw in the distance countless frenzied people, their bodies covered in blood, climbing desperately over others’ heads and shoulders.
People continuously ran past her, as if outside the towering walls, there was some top-grade delicacy waiting for them.
Turning around in place, her view encompassed nothing but coldness and cruelty.
There was not a single smiling face, not even a lively face to be seen; all faces were wooden, fierce, mad, and desperate.
Su Shu felt as if she were falling under the ice, her bones chilled to the core.
Such imagery was too horrific, and even the sky above seemed shrouded in a blood-red hue, its sinister force as if it wished to melt the entire world into a sea of blood.
Su Shu felt nauseous.
Suddenly, from behind her, a child’s voice.
“What are you doing here?”
Su Shu, startled, turned around.
Behind her stood a three- or four-year-old toddler, even smaller than Xiao’ai, with noticeably fluffy curly hair.
“Are you talking to me?”
It was no wonder she was surprised, for it seemed like all the people around her couldn’t even see her, only knew to bite at their companions and run desperately forward.
In this hellish slaughter, she stood there like an alien.
And the little boy who suddenly appeared behind her, dressed pristinely in white clothes and white shoes, tilted his head and stared at her with innocent yet lively big eyes.
He seemed even more like an alien than she did.
“What are you doing here?”
The little boy asked again.
Su Shu hesitated, then asked in return, “Who are you? What are you doing here?”
In such surroundings, the presence of a child like him made Su Shu slightly wary.
Everywhere there were corpses scattered all around, a mountain of blood, yet he was dressed in a clean white fleece with not a single spot of blood, which was truly startling.
Upon hearing this, the little boy tilted his head back, “I’m picking up beads.”
“Picking up beads?” Su Shu frowned.
The little boy looked around, suddenly hopped off a human head, walked forward a few steps, bent down, and started picking something up.
Su Shu did not know what he was picking up, and in a moment, the little boy stood up, holding up his right hand.
“Look, this kind of bead!”
Su Shu focused her eyes, and saw in the little boy’s fingers, a fiery red bead emitting a faint red glow under the sky.
Before she could take a closer look, the little boy opened a small bag in front of him and tossed the Blood Bead inside.
Then he bounced happily to the next destination.
For some reason, Su Shu felt that she should follow this little boy.
The little boy bounced ahead, indifferent to whether she was following, stepping over several corpses and leaping over a few skulls, occasionally bending down to pick up one bead after another.
