Fortunately, Cain was still capable of remaining calm. He stopped Old Nick’s grubby hands before Old Nick touched Su Tang.
He asked calmly, “What do you mean by half a year?”
Su Tang pointed at the sun as she said, “Each sunrise and sunset is equal to one day. Thirty days is equal to one month. Twelve months is equal to one year.”
Cain realized what she meant while everyone remained dumbstruck.
“So half a year is six months and 180 days!”
Su Tang clapped happily. “Uh-huh! That’s right!”
Cain’s following words went against Su Tang’s understanding of the world.
“The cold season lasts 180 days too. If we store a lot of chestnuts and some meat before the rainy season is over, we won’t have to go hungry during the cold season!”
Su Tang was a little lost!
What did he mean when he said the cold season was 180 days?
If she was not mistaken, the cold season ought to be winter!
She hurriedly interrupted, “Hang on! Are there only two seasons here?”
Everyone looked confused and did not understand what Su Tang meant!
Cain paused before he realized what she was asking and replied, “We have four seasons in total when it’s warm, hot, rainy, and cold. Each season lasts 180 days.”
Su Tang clutched the clothing at her chest tightly and looked bewildered.
“Is it different for your tribe?”
Su Tang was at a loss for a moment.
“Of course not. Do you know what a year is? Each year consists of a cycle of seasons from the warm to cold seasons! Each season is about three months, and there are 12 months in a year!”
Cain frowned. “So that means half a year is only one season here!”
Su Tang nodded.
Yuanyuan was completely confused until she heard what Cain said and asked quizzically, “Tangtang, the seasons throughout Beast World are the same. Why is your tribe different?”
Su Tang nervously swallowed when Yuanyuan looked at her quizzically.
Oh no! She made a mistake!
Was she not blatantly saying that she was not from Beast World?
Su Tang instantly felt anxious!
Before she could come up with an answer, she could hear Meng Ze coughing.
“Cough, cough… Yuanyuan, I want a drink!”
Yuanyuan promptly turned her attention to Meng Ze.
Yuanyuan looked at the empty earthenware jar with some remnants of goldenrod inside. She asked Su Tang, “I’m going to get Meng Ze more water. Do you still want this?”
Su Tang shook her head a little anxiously. “N-no, I don’t…”
Yuanyuan did not detect anything amiss. Instead, she nodded before she brought the earthenware jar to the river.
Su Tang shrank her head meekly and did not dare even to breathe hard.
Cain glanced at Old Nick, who instantly caught his drift.
He picked up a bundle of herbs he tossed aside in excitement earlier and said, “Su Tang, this is what I found. Is there any goldenrod here?”
Su Tang raised her head and looked at Cain and Meng Ze furtively. They looked normal and did not feel suspicious of her after hearing what Yuanyuan said.
She exhaled in relief before she studied the plants resembling weeds that Old Nick brought back.
Su Tang failed to detect the thoughtful look in Cain’s cat-like eyes when she lowered her head.
She did not bear much hope when she looked at it but surprisingly found something useful among the weeds.
