Chapter 34: Accident IV

Translator: EndlessFantasy Translation

Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation

“Gu Qingqing, age 25. Mother’s name is Wu Aimei, brother’s name is Gu Qingshan, and her father has passed way. She is married, and her husband is Leng Sicheng.

“Leng Sicheng and Gu Qingqing. Interesting combo.”

Lin Zhouyi smiled, pushed away his chair, and walked towards the window. From the spot, he could see the heavy traffic that crawled slowly on the street plodding along at a snail’s pace.

Gu Qingqing had no idea that someone was staring at her from the top of the building. This was not the right time for her to think about Lin Zhouyi as well.

Once she got home, her cellphone rang before she could have her meal.

“Qingqing, I have bad news!”

…

It was already ten at night when Gu Qingqing arrived at the hospital. A family of five sat outside the emergency room, looking distressed. On the other side, an older woman in her 60s and a young man in his 30s stared blankly at space as they sat on the bench. The woman looked weary seemingly from a ton of worries. As for the young man that sat beside her, he leaned lazily and started to yawn. Then he pulled out his phone and began to play with it.

Seeing the young man getting cozy and relaxed, the middle-aged man opposite him stood up, and without warning, he charged at him and grabbed his collar.

“If something bad happens to my brother, I will definitely not let you off the hook!”

“Do you know who my brother-in-law is? He is Leng Group’s Dir…”

The young man was evidently a haughty one, replying in the most contemptuous of ways. Suddenly, he spotted Gu Qingqing walking towards him from the other end of the hall.

“OH! So you’re here, huh? You should have been here earlier! Don’t you know what time it is!”

Immediately, Gu Qingqing realized that her brother was about to give her a load of problems and headaches. Nevertheless, she held her anger in and ignored her brother for now. Dismissing the aggressive man, she walked towards the middle-aged woman and started talking.

“Mom, you didn’t tell me any details when you called just now. What’s going on?”

“It’s your brother again. Do you remember that he made a mess in someone’s shop? He also beat the crap out of an employee. The worker was sent to the hospital last night with a ruptured spleen! He is undergoing surgery right now.”

Gu Qingqing was speechless. Seeing that her brother was about to say something to defend himself, Gu Qingqing instantly glared at him in furious retaliation. Gu Qingqing knew that he was at fault, but his ego was not about to allow him to admit it. In the end, he still insisted on speaking up to defend himself.

On the other hand, the victim’s family had finally calmed down as well.

Time flew by.

4 p.m. The ‘operation in progress’ sign above the operating theatre went off.

“We have completed the surgery. It is a success. However, he still needs to stay here for a few days for us to observe him,” said the surgeon.

Everyone let out a sigh of relief. At least, no one died from this incident. However, it was soon apparent that the victim’s family would choose to settle the conundrum without getting the authorities involved. In other words, they wanted money as compensation.

“My brother will need at least 200,000 as compensation for the medical fees, lost wages, and grievous damage to mental wellbeing!” said a representative from the family sharply.

“Who knows for sure if I was the one who hurt him that day. What if he got into an accident that he after that day?”

“What now? You’re refusing to pay us? Fine! Let’s settle this with the police then!”

Although money could be used to pay for the shop’s damages, he might also be jailed if the family decided on reporting him for assaulting their family member.

“Brother, can you stop talking for a moment?! Don’t worry, we will try our best here to compensate you,” Gu Qingqing pleaded.
