Heavy rain was falling in constant streams as Qin Zhiyou got out of bed. Outside, the strong winds beat against the velvet curtains, throwing them in gusty waves as they billowed back and forth.

A gentle murmur sounded beside him, as if the person was disturbed by the storm outside. Hearing this, Qin Zhiyou turned around and looked at the woman lying beside him.

Lu Weixi did not sleep soundly. Red lips were tightly clenched on by her shell-like teeth to the point that faint teeth marks remained. Her brows were knitted slightly, like a perfumed lily shaking in the wind.

The man watched her from the side for a long time, and he could not help but stretch out his hand, wanting to relax those tightly-knitted brows. When his long fingers touched the top of her face, Lu Weixi’s brows moved slightly, as if she was about to wake up.

Almost instantly, Qin Zhiyou retracted his fingers and picked up the pajamas beside him, as he slowly put them on with his back facing her. Then, he stood up and his tall build walked toward the door. Pushing it open, he called out, “Auntie Hao”

The housekeeper, Auntie Hao, walked over.

“Prepare a cup of black coffee and take it to the study.”

Auntie Hao nodded and just as she was just about to go downstairs, Qin Zhiyou took two steps and his brows furrowed, as if he thought of something, and he hurriedly called out again.

“Wait a minute.”

His calm voice had no hint of any emotion at all. “The incident just now was unexpected and I forgot to take precautions. When Young Madam wakes up, remember to remind her about it.”

Lu Weixi was lying on the bed the whole time. When his footsteps started to fade, she picked up the phone that kept vibrating on the bedside table. Once the call connected, Doctor Zhao’s anxious voice sounded from the other end. “Weixi, your mother is showing severe signs of rejection towards the medicine. In the study, Qin Zhiyou sat in front of the computer as his hands knocked against the keyboard. When Lu Weixi knocked on the door to come in, he did not even look up at her.

Lu Weixi placed the coffee beside him. Once the cup was placed down, he picked it up to take a sip, before turning around. Lu Weixi was just about to speak, when she realized that his eyes were glued to the documents on the table, as he flipped them with his lips tightly pressed against each other, without even bothering to look up and greet her.

Lu Weixi kept waiting at the side. Until he finished his coffee, she could not resist anymore and said, “Zhiyou.”

Qin Zhiyou did not even look at her, as his intricate fingers calmly flipped the documents, his eyes comparing them to the screen in front of him from time to time. “What’s the matter?”

“Including today, this is the fourth day you’ve been home this week, and the tenth day in this month.” Lu Weixi tried hard to gather her thoughts. At first, it was a little difficult but she talked faster and faster toward the end. “When we got married five years ago, we agreed that you would come back five days every month and that you would give me fifty thousand dollars. If you exceed that duration, you would have to give me more money.”
