Chapter 40: Most Intolerant Man

Mu Beiting turned his head and looked at Ye Anxin quietly for a long time. Then his thin lips opened slightly, and he said coldly, “Drive!”

The driver nodded and started the car.

“Mister, what’s going on?” Ye Anxin had actually wanted to tell Mu Beiting that her parents were upstairs, and since he was already here, perhaps he could go up to pay them a visit. After all, he was their son-in-law, and they would inevitably meet in the future.

But she really couldn’t imagine someone as dignified as Mu Beiting simply sitting in such a tiny rental house. No matter how she thought about it he would seem extremely out of place.

Mu Beiting looked ahead and said impatiently, “If you have something to say, just say it.”

“Hmm…forget it, it’s okay.” Ye Anxin thought about it for a while, and finally gave up on the thought that had just flashed through her mind.

Before taking Mu Beiting to see her parents, she would have to give her parents mental preparation, otherwise…she was afraid that they wouldn’t take it well.

Besides, she felt that Mu Beiting might not be able to accept her parents, who lived on the bottom rung of society.

As soon as Ye Anxin said that, it was as if the temperature in the car had dropped several degrees. Ye Anxin felt as if the entire body of the man next to her had been covered with a layer of ice. In the blink of an eye, he’d returned to the utterly unapproachable man he’d been when they had first met.

Ye Anxin looked at him. She seemed to have upset him again. But…she didn’t know the reason for his anger at all. This man was always getting angry out of the blue, but he never explicitly stated the reason behind his anger. He was the most intolerant man she had ever seen.

Just as Mu Beiting was fuming and Ye Anxin was feeling confused, there was the sound of a gunshot outside the car, and then the car that Ye Anxin and Mu Beiting were riding in instantly lost its stability. It began to slip on the smooth surface, and, after making a few swerves, the car hit a big tree on the side of the road and stopped.

“Ay!” Ye Anxin had been sitting in the car, and, when the car lost control, her entire body had lost its balance and lunged forward. Mu Beiting hurriedly grabbed the door with one hand, and, with the other hand, he grabbed Ye Anxin and pulled her into his arms.

Before Ye Anxin had time to react, she heard the driver say, “President, there are assassins. Our car tire has just been blown out by them!”

“Assassins?” Ye Anxin sucked in her breath. In Mu Beiting’s arms, her entire body shook.

“Don’t be afraid!” Mu Beiting felt her change in emotion and patted her back gently with his hand. Although his voice was as cold as ever, the fear in Ye Anxin’s heart miraculously disappeared.

Ye Anxin raised her head and asked him with concern, “Mister, are those people trying to assassinate you? How lawless they must be for them to dare to use a gun against you out in the open like that?”

Mu Beiting snorted coldly, and a trace of disdain flashed in his eyes.

At this time, the assassin outside had obviously lost patience. He was slowly approaching the car, shooting at them desperately.

Bang! Bang! Bang! The sound of gunshots sounded again and again. Not long after, Mu Beiting’s car looked like a hornet’s nest.

“You stay in the car, and stay down!” Mu Beiting said this coldly. Letting go of Ye Anxin, he pressed her shoulder to motion for her to squat in front of the rear seat. Before Ye Anxin could react, he opened the car door directly and swiftly jumped out of the car.

Ye Anxin was shocked, but it was too late to pull him back. Mu Beiting had jumped out of the car and closed the door.

At the same time, the driver also jumped out of the car with Mu Beiting.
