Chapter 37: Feeding the Fire

“If Mr. Zhang likes that type, you can have her. For myself, I prefer this one,” Mr. Qin said, laughing loudly.

“Mr. Qin, you know me too well. I will accept graciously then.”

That said, Mr. Zhang rose from his seat and walked toward An Ziqi saying, “Whoa! This little girl is fresh-faced and pretty. You must be so bored, sitting there all alone. Come here. Your big brother will play with you.”

As he spoke, he sat down beside her and reached out to hug her.

An Ziqi jumped to her feet immediately, planning to seek out Xia Tianxing and leave the room.

Having seen enough foreplay like this, Mr. Zhang interpreted An Ziqi’s rejection as part of her game. This was a game that he relished, so he was delighted.

Laughing, he reached out and pulled An Ziqi, trapping her by his side.

“Come on, my pretty woman. Don’t be shy.”

“Let go of me.”

An Ziqi struggled with all her might.

At her end, Xia Tianxing had been busy serving drinks and handling Mr. Wang.

When she saw what was unfolding, she quickly rose to her feet, planning to help An Ziqi out.

However, she was held back with an iron grip by that darned Mr. Wang.

“What? You’re not having enough fun with me? You’re thinking of going to serve Mr. Zhang?”

Xia Tianxing was fraught with anxiety. There was no way An Ziqi could handle this bunch of people. Forcing herself to smile, she tried to explain.

“Oh, no, Mr. Wang. That’s not it. Please don’t misunderstand me. I’m just afraid that my little sister, with her fiery temper, will inadvertently offend Mr. Zhang.”

“Don’t you worry. Since your little sister has a fiery temper, it would do her good to be tamed. It is her good fortune to be favored by Mr. Zhang.”

Mr. Wang shot a knowing glance in An Ziqi’s direction and smiled deviously.

He had been harboring a grudge against An Ziqi, unhappy that she had humiliated him earlier at the dinner table.

Naturally, he was now waiting with anticipation to see someone else teaching An Ziqi a lesson.

There was no way he would allow Xia Tianxing to go to An Ziqi’s aid.

Due to her status as the daughter of the head of Changxing Group, Lin Kelan was considered a person of some influence in S City.

So naturally, Mr. Qin would not pressure her into anything she did not want to do.

Looking relaxed, Lin Kelan sat by the side and watched An Ziqi struggling to free herself. Smiling, she said, “An Ziqi, stop pretending to be so high and mighty, and virtuous. Serve Mr. Zhang well, and you would benefit greatly from it.”

“Lin Kelan, you’d better not cross the line,” An Ziqi raised her head and spat angrily at Lin Kelan.

But Lin Kelan just laughed loudly.

“Why not? It is your good fortune that I am letting you serve Mr. Zhang. Or do you only have eyes for Master Li? Is Mr. Zhang not good enough for you?”

“Lin Kelan, since you like him so much, why don’t I transfer this piece of good fortune to you?”

In that instant, An Ziqi would have dearly loved to rush at Lin Kelan and slap her a few times on the face.

This darned woman. She had not had the chance to get back at her for setting her up to fail at Huanyu’s product launch. And yet, here she was again, scheming to throw her into the cauldron of fire.

Now, Lin Kelan was not one who would debase herself by serving the repugnant Mr. Zhang.

Turning to Mr. Zhang at the side, Lin Kelan fed the fire by saying, “Mr. Zhang, by the looks of it, she is obviously looking down on you.”

Upon hearing that, Mr. Zhang frowned.

This stinking woman had the audacity to despise him. If word of this spread beyond the doors of this room, how would the other bosses in his line of business perceive him?

He raised his hand and pinched An Ziqi’s chin brutally and asked in a vindictive voice filled with cruelty, “What? You dare to despise me?”

He looked so brutal that his originally greasy smile appeared exceptionally savage.
