Chapter 806: Chapter 635 What Exactly Did I Say Wrong?_2
“What about Ran’ei Divine Master?” Yatagarasu Akiryu realized something, “Where did they go?”
“Funiu Sword Pavilion.”
Yatagarasu Akiryu frowned, recalling Sword Master Cold Crow’s instructions not long ago.
“What happened?”
“We paid a terrible price to uncover the truth.” The speaker looked grief-stricken, “According to accurate information, Ran’ei Divine Master is likely already dead!”
“Dead?!”
Yatagarasu Akiryu’s heart was shocked. Back when he was at Flounder Mountain, the shrine there, though part of the eight branches, had no Divine Master stationed and was never taken seriously by the mainstream forces.
But Ran’ei Divine Master was different. He was a true Divine Master of that level. How could such a powerful figure be killed so easily?
“Did Sword Master Funiu and the other three Peak Masters strike simultaneously?” This was the only possibility Yatagarasu Akiryu could think of.
“Indeed, they did, and they unleashed the Bloodline Power unique to Western transcendents. We don’t know how they bypassed the world’s rules and suppression.”
“Even so, they were ultimately defeated by the combined might of three other Divine Masters.”
Yatagarasu Akiryu, who knew the power structure of the Sword Pavilion well, was not surprised by this. However, if even Sword Master Funiu and his team of four couldn’t succeed…
What power could stand against the combined assault of three Divine Masters and still kill one while injuring two?
“The one who killed Ran’ei Divine Master was someone else.”
The messenger’s expression turned somewhat strange, “It was Roger.”
“Sword Master’s student, Roger!”
“What?!”
Yatagarasu Akiryu’s body trembled violently, blurting out almost without thinking, “Impossible!”
“This is impossible!”
His voice, charged with immense power due to his loss of composure, overwhelmed the cultivator beside him, causing the man to stagger and nearly collapse.
Sitting underneath the eaves of the outer corridor, Kensumi turned pale and involuntarily spat out a mouthful of fresh blood.
The blood landed in the fire basin before him, producing a sizzling sound.
At that moment, a white figure appeared, placing a slender hand on Kensumi’s back.
Kensumi shook his head lightly, exchanging a subtle glance with Yuuki Nao.
To be honest, upon hearing the news from across the way, his shock was no less intense than Yatagarasu Akiryu’s.
Yet, if this news was true…
Roger’s strength…
How could it be?
Doesn’t the accumulation of power require time?
After taking a few calming breaths, Yatagarasu Akiryu also forced himself to settle, “Is the information reliable?”
“Could there be a mistake?”
“Rest assured, Lord Akiryu, this information came at the cost of blood. Besides, there’s no reason for Tengu Shrine to lie about such a matter.”
“Were the three Divine Masters injured during their battle with Sword Master Funiu and the others?” This was the only scenario Yatagarasu Akiryu could currently conceive.
“No, quite the opposite…”
Hearing the subordinate’s account, Yatagarasu Akiryu’s expression grew increasingly grim, his breathing heavier, until he abruptly interrupted the speaker coldly.
“I understand. Leave.”
“Yes!”
The courtyard quickly fell silent. Kensumi bent over, coughing lightly, while Yatagarasu Akiryu’s gaze lingered on him.
“I know what you’re thinking.”
“You’re mocking me, aren’t you?”
In the next instant, Yatagarasu Akiryu’s imposing figure closed the distance across the courtyard, standing before Kensumi.
A cold air swept over, extinguishing and freezing the fire basin in front of Kensumi instantly. His current strength was nothing compared to before. The impact of this force left his face covered in a layer of thin frost.
“Lord Kensumi.”
Yuuki Nao looked deeply concerned and channeled Spiritual Power into Kensumi’s body.
“Get lost, this has nothing to do with you!”
Yatagarasu Akiryu barked coldly, sending Yuuki Nao flying backward with a violent burst of energy that shattered the wooden door behind her.
Kensumi looked full of concern, yet his body was so stiff that even turning his head now felt impossibly difficult.
“You think I’m afraid?”
“Do you think just because he killed Ran’ei Divine Master, he could kill me?”
“I am the Sword Master now!”
“The one who will die is him!”
Yatagarasu Akiryu roared.
Kensumi’s expression grew bleak, “Do I have any qualification left to mock others now?”
“Haha!”
“Isn’t the most foolish one me?”
As Yatagarasu Akiryu’s aura receded, Kensumi’s face regained a hint of color.
“There must be a reason I don’t yet understand. There’s no way someone could grow their power this quickly. He must’ve employed some special methods.”
“Ah, it must be those two peculiar allies!”
Yatagarasu Akiryu declared with conviction.
His soliloquy continued, but as he thought about the arrogance he’d displayed toward Kensumi earlier, a touch of guilt prickled at Yatagarasu Akiryu’s heart.
Even with his scheming mind, he could not avoid feeling his cheeks flush.
Being directly proven wrong, and especially in front of the Kensumi he’d always belittled and mocked…
This left Yatagarasu Akiryu utterly mortified.
“It’s good that you understand.”
“The next time I come here, I’ll bring Roger’s severed head.”
He sneered coldly, turning and walking out.
“Bang.”
The courtyard gate shut tightly. Yet barely after he’d walked a few steps away, Yatagarasu Akiryu heard laughter leaking through the gap in the door.
At first, the owner of the voice seemed to try suppressing it, but gradually the sound grew louder, tinged with unabashed madness and defiance.
“Haha, hahaha!”
The anger and humiliation endured over days of oppression–all negative emotions–were swept away by the laughter.
Kensumi’s face flushed red, blood even seeping from the corner of his mouth. Though he coughed uncontrollably, his laughter only intensified.
He knew that if he laughed like this in front of Yatagarasu Akiryu, that enraged man might very well do something horrific.
But after Akiryu left, Kensumi couldn’t hold back his emotions–the laughter gave him a sense of truly being alive.
Outside the courtyard gate, Yatagarasu Akiryu paused.
His expression was as dark as the bottom of a pot, and countless times he wanted to turn back and obliterate the courtyard along with those inside.
But after wrestling with himself several times, Yatagarasu Akiryu resumed walking, heading farther away.
He knew making a move would be akin to admitting fear.
“What’s happened to Lord Kensumi?”
A cold snort came from beside him. It was the same person who earlier delivered messages for Yatagarasu Akiryu.
Within Hankawa’s domain, aside from a select few, most didn’t know about the change in Kensumi’s status.
Some individuals’ hostility toward Kensumi still revolved around mundane power struggles.
“He’s gone mad. What could possibly be so funny?”
The man wore an ingratiating smile as he looked at Yatagarasu Akiryu.
“Lord Akiryu, you’re the only hope for Hankawa. That waste like him… Ah…!”
Before the man could finish speaking, an intense pain shot through his chest. As his body flew through the air, he caught sight of Akiryu’s cold, expressionless face.
In his final moments, one thought flashed through the man’s mind.
“Can someone tell me, what did I say wrong?”
Yatagarasu Akiryu’s tightly clenched fist glimmered. The man’s body hadn’t even touched the ground but had already frozen solid and shattered into finger-sized icy fragments.
He died unable to comprehend why a casual jest would cost him his life.
CRACK!
Yatagarasu Akiryu clenched his fist tightly, his breathing growing heavier as he quickened his pace, distancing himself from the courtyard.
“Lord Kensumi, you’re wounded.”
Yuuki Nao approached Kensumi, wiping the blood from the corner of his lips.
Kensumi was laughing, but his eyes were heavy with sorrow.
Yuuki Nao said nothing, quietly leaning against Kensumi’s shoulder and embracing the man beside her.
“Am I useless?”
“Can only watch helplessly as you’re attacked, powerless to protect you.”
Yuuki Nao said nothing, only hugging tighter.
As for everything happening atop Hankawa, Roger naturally knew nothing. At this moment, he had already returned to Kaer Morhen through the Shadow Cottage.
The back-to-back battles had drained him, yet he was unaware that for men, no matter how grueling the battles outside…
Upon returning home, another battle awaited him.
As for the opponent…
Well, it could be one, or maybe…
