Chapter 807: Chapter 636: Where Three People Walk, There Must Be My Wife
Flap, flap.
A soft sound made Roger open his eyes.
Outside the window, a vine stretched out its tender branches. At the tip of the branch, a small bird with red-feathered crest tilted its head, curiously observing the chaos on the bed.
Roger carefully withdrew the arm that Goway had been resting on and slowly sat up. He grabbed a soft blanket and draped it over Hathaway’s bare body.
“What utter nonsense.”
He muttered casually, recalling the events of the previous night. Even someone as thick-skinned as him couldn’t help but feel his mouth dry.
Some things, it seems, truly captivate many people.
There’s definitely some truth to it, he couldn’t help but sigh. Just one experience was enough to instinctively make him crave a second and third time.
Ahem, maybe expand the scope a bit?
Increase the number of participants?
Roger couldn’t help but fantasize. Even as a Transcendent, biological instincts hadn’t deprived him of certain pleasures.
In fact, from a certain perspective, with a more robust physique, heightened senses, and stronger spiritual power, Transcendents could experience much more during certain activities compared to ordinary people.
He scratched his head, carefully recalling what had happened last night.
“I remember we started talking about Alchemy knowledge, then Hathaway mentioned Gwent Cards…”
“And then we sparred and exchanged ideas.”
However, as time passed, a serious game of Gwent Cards became less and less serious, and then certain things happened naturally.
As for why it ended up being the three of them, to be honest, Roger still wasn’t entirely clear.
“Maybe everyone has moments of impulse.”
Summoning all his strength of will, Roger extricated himself from the tangled limbs surrounding him. Morning sunlight illuminated the room, the air carrying a slight chill–not that such minor changes in temperature mattered to a Transcendent.
Roger flipped out of bed, cautiously rummaging through the chaotic mess to find his clothes.
While dressing, he sharply detected two slightly rapid breaths. Roger was aware of the situation but chose to remain silent. After putting on his clothes, he pushed the door open and left.
Some nonsense is better left for the night.
Click.
The room returned to stillness, leaving only the small bird on the branch to chirp.
After what felt like ages, a voice rang out, “If you’re awake, get up. We still have work to do.”
“Serious work, of course.”
Hathaway sat up, wrapping the blanket around her. Her gaze fell on Goway, collapsed on the other side of the bed.
Goway was still lying motionless, her hair cascading down, highlighting the stark whiteness of her skin.
She neither moved nor spoke.
Truth be told, Goway wasn’t sure why she had been drawn into last night’s chaos. Now that she was awake, her fondest wish was for everyone to pretend nothing had happened and to leave quietly.
But fate had other plans…
“Get up!”
Hathaway muttered, “Last night, you were really…”
The next second, a leaf blew in seemingly out of nowhere, covering Hathaway’s mouth and stopping her words.
“Shut up!”
Goway snorted coldly. A green flash followed, and her body was suddenly adorned with a long green dress embroidered with red patterns.
It was her Companion Treant, the rose from the Fairy Tale World.
After a round of playful squabbling, the two women dressed and left the room.
Outside the bedroom, Roger’s figure was nowhere to be seen. Stepping out of the house, both of them put on composed expressions. On the road, they ran into several Demon Hunter Apprentices.
The apprentices bowed respectfully, and the women responded with polite smiles.
A gaze shot from afar at that moment. Goway lifted her head and saw Roger in the distance. She quickly averted her gaze, pretending not to notice him.
Standing beside her, Hathaway, however, greeted him warmly, “Good morning, Roger.”
“Do you remember what we talked about last night? That grand event we mentioned?”
Hathaway’s demeanor was as if she truly had just met Roger for the first time.
“You mean your plan to host a Gwent Cards tournament?”
Honestly, given the circumstances last night, any topic of conversation barely penetrated Roger’s brain. To even recall fragments of it now was remarkable.
“It’s not just a Gwent Cards exchange meet. Many factions will be participating, and we’ll be showcasing new Alchemy Items at the event.”
“Surely you wouldn’t miss the chance to join us, would you?”
Hathaway asked.
It seemed like a perfectly normal trip, though Roger couldn’t shake the feeling that Hathaway’s words carried an implied meaning.
The three of them traveling together to attend a conference in another town… well…
Very ordinary. Surely nothing unusual would happen.
The thought triggered flashes of imagery in Roger’s mind, and he immediately halted his train of thought. He was deeply concerned that his self-control might falter and lead to poor judgment on this issue.
“I have other plans…”
Regaining his rationality, Roger declined.
“Are you sure?”
“Neither of us relies on brute strength. Gwent Cards are fine; the crafting techniques are in our possession, and since Spirit Mediums are involved–and they’re only used for divination–it won’t attract too much attention from other factions.”
“But Alchemy Potions are different. Even with the limited batches we’ve released recently, the response has been significant.”
“Now, with Transcendent incidents escalating, the demand for Alchemy Potions is rising. Even the Hunters Guild has expressed a keen interest.”
