Chapter 810: Chapter 637 LV3
There’s no element of mind control; all changes stem from the heart.
Even beings as powerful as the Nekomata, despite controlling Higurashi Gushan through sheer force, still experienced inevitable backlash over time.
After advancing to the Second Tier, the differing sense of belonging among Demon Hunters began to create disparities in their promotion speeds.
This is a process of natural selection. Although a strong sense of belonging cannot guarantee unwavering loyalty or undying commitment to Roger or Kaer Morhen,
Roger believes this approach is far superior to mind control.
No matter how powerful, control always carries the risk of failure, whereas decisions originating from one’s own heart tend to be firmer.
Recently, Henrik has been intensifying the selection process, yet as the influence expanded, many hidden risks began to surface.
This posed significant challenges to his work.
However, despite this capability not boosting direct combat strength, it remains the most crucial asset for Kaer Morhen at present.
It lays the foundation for the training base’s future and determines the cohesion of this group.
That is more important than anything else.
The aura surrounding Yuan Guanghai gradually settled. As he strove to adapt to the changes in his body, Roger silently experienced the fluctuations of energy within him.
As the Founder of Demon Hunters in this world, the upgrades to the training base, now at Level Three, have started to yield noticeable adjustments accumulating within him.
This is merely the beginning. Roger has a hunch that these ordinary Demon Hunters might become his most solid support in the future.
Considering his current strength, without external intervention, he is fully confident he could take down Yatagarasu Akiryu alone.
Yet evidently, there exists an overwhelming force on Hankawa that deeply unsettles Roger.
The Sword Master Cold Crow.
Deep within his consciousness, the bands of light around the Alder Sword Seal grew fewer, signaling that Roger was nearing the end of the fusion path.
Meanwhile, the Quinn Sword Seal was progressing smoothly.
At sunrise, the paths chosen by the Sword Master and Divine Master were merely compromises–they failed to fuse their unique Guardian Spirits or World Fragments.
To be honest, Roger was deeply intrigued by the notion of World Fragment fusion.
After all, there’s a significant disparity between the two.
He even wonders if those Transcendents who fused World Fragments produce unique spaces akin to the Hunter’s Cabin.
If that were the case, then where does the Hunter’s Cabin originate from?
A shattered world?
And where does Roger himself originate from?
Suppressing the doubts in his heart, Roger left the Tower of Shadows.
Everything transpired silently; the Demon Hunters training in the castle were completely unaware of the events.
Not long after Roger departed, Goway excitedly sought him out, “What happened?”
“The library suddenly gained a lot of documents–it’s Alchemy knowledge I’ve never encountered before.”
Goway’s eyes widened, “Alchemy Potions, Alchemical Bombs…”
She enthusiastically listed various rare ingredients and configuration methods.
To avoid being dragged by Goway into experiments fueled by her excitement, Roger quickly made an excuse and headed to the canyon.
There, Henrik was orchestrating trials within the Graveyard Cemetery.
The internal structure had undergone significant changes, and when Roger arrived, he caught Henrik in a rather suspicious state.
“Are you conducting Demonic Hunter trials?”
Roger’s expression reflected his confusion, and Henrik’s demeanor raised some troubling associations.
“The more elements absorbed by the mental environment, the richer the simulation becomes. Want to experience it firsthand?”
Henrik turned and gave Roger a meaningful look.
“Alright.”
Bored with nothing else to do, Roger didn’t decline.
Without saying a word, Henrik let a flicker of light flash across his palm before tapping Roger on the shoulder.
Roger’s awareness seemed to fragment–he could still feel his body and control its movements as usual, but a portion of his mind was pulled by a unique power into a realm of chaos.
It was an austere and solemn hall. At its center stood a stone platform surrounded by seated figures, their vacant gazes fixed on a multi-faced die atop the platform.
Each side of the die refracted a different scene, corresponding to the illusionary realms experienced by Demon Hunters.
“Just pick one.”
Henrik’s figure appeared.
Roger grabbed the die sitting on the table. He casually examined it–beaches, caves, dense forests, and ruined houses.
Each scenario corresponded to a distinct monster, and injecting one’s consciousness into it would allow observation of its internal events.
Roger hadn’t expected the ordinary functionality of the Graveyard Cemetery to be developed by Henrik to such an extent. Taking note of Henrik’s fatigue, Roger realized how much effort Henrik poured into this endeavor.
For him, as the Manipulator, the spiritual power expenditure would exceed what these Demon Hunters faced during their trials.
As Roger continued studying the die, he noticed something unusual.
“What’s this?”
He opened his palm, and the die floated above it.
The die’s faces each reflected different scenes and experiences, but Roger spotted something concealed at its core–a hidden scenario.
“Heh, well, those are just some little rewards.”
