Chapter 511: Chapter 510 This drop is pretty average, huh
What bad luck!
Watching the fire blazing up into the sky in the distance, Fang Zheng was utterly cursing in his heart.
The Octopus Lord is a creature; it, of course, wouldn’t explode. Thus, it’s pretty clear where that fire came from. He had not anticipated that the damnable Giant of Light would still have this trick up its sleeve… but on second thought, this was indeed standard procedure.
“Javelin, take us to the crash site! Everyone else, prepare to establish a base here!”
Having rapidly issued his orders, Fang Zheng immediately boarded the hovering stealth bomber, taking Nymph, Fina, and others toward the area where the Giant of Light had fallen.
The self-detonation caused by the Giant of Light had blasted a huge crater in the ground. By the time Fang Zheng arrived, the gigantic Octopus Lord had been completely charred, not even fit to eat. However, Fang Zheng didn’t care about the roasted octopus; he signaled Javelin to activate a traction aura to drag the damnable ruined octopus aside before he hurried to the remains of the Giant of Light.
From the outside, the Giant of Light was thoroughly doomed. The radiance that had once connected its armor was already gone, making it seem like a scattered pile of empty armor shells on the ground. There were no signs of any biological remnants around, which solidified Fang Zheng’s assumption that the Giant of Light was merely an autonomous defense mechanism.
“Javelin, collect all of these remains.”
Looking at the remains of the Giant of Light in front of him, Fang Zheng was at a loss for words. He hadn’t expected a thing that had wreaked havoc on the Chaos Monsters of the Northlands to end up like this. It felt like a letdown, and he still had no idea why it had been activated. As for that Goddess’s bathroom… sigh, let whoever wants to go, go; Fang Zheng decided to head back to the Heavenly Dao Palace and treat himself to a spa bath.
Like Kitanatei, Midori Villa, and so on…
“Commander!”
Just as Fang Zheng was daydreaming, suddenly, Javelin’s voice came, interrupting his thoughts.
“I’ve found something strange.”
“Oh?”
Upon hearing Javelin’s report, Fang Zheng regained his focus and looked at the screen. Soon, he saw a traction light beam “grab” a strange, hexagonal object from the wreckage of the Giant of Light, slowly flying towards the warship. It looked like a huge, polished gemstone, but with the lighting, ripples started forming on it like those on a water balloon.
Although it was odd, the object gave Fang Zheng a bizarre feeling of being both soft and hard. Moreover, the “gemstone”‘s aura was also strange; initially yellow when Fang Zheng had first seen it, but then it seemed to “transition” into orange-red, and half-way through, it started turning “purple.”
A gemstone whose properties and color were both constantly changing? But something felt off…
“Huh?”
In that moment, Nymph was curiously widening her eyes.
“Master, this object… is strange!”
“Strange?”
“Exactly.”
In response to Fang Zheng’s inquiry, Nymph nodded emphatically.
“Master, you must have noticed, this gemstone’s nature, color, density, even its radiation frequency and signal are all constantly changing, but, its shape has never changed!”
“That’s it! That’s the thing!”
Heeding Nymph’s reminder, Fang Zheng suddenly slapped his hand; he had felt that there was something peculiar about the gemstone. Now, hearing Nymph say it, he realized it. Logically, a gemstone whose almost every trait is in constant flux should also have a random shape, yet this gemstone’s shape remained fixed as a hexagon!
That was very abnormal!
“Nymph, what’s your opinion?”
“I can detect that there is some kind of pattern formed on the surface of this gemstone that fixes these, but what exactly it is, we’ll need further investigation to determine. However, I am certain, it should be some kind of material.”
Speaking to this point, a smile appeared on Nymph’s face. Originally, the method of the Goddess of Order to “skip the process and obtain the results” had embarrassed the Little Angel, because the random process could not be observed or fixed, so scanning and studying was out of the question.
But now that this object was tangible, there was a possibility for the Little Angel to analyze it, which instantly restored Nymph’s confidence.
“Then let’s temporarily take this thing back to the base, and move it to the Heavenly Dao Palace after confirming it’s harmless.”
Although this object was a remnant of the Guardian of the Goddess of Order, Fang Zheng dared not guarantee it was harmless. After all, sci-fi movies are full of examples where seemingly harmless objects brought back start causing disasters. To be safe, he decided to study the remains of the Giant of Light here and then take it back to the Heavenly Dao Palace after ensuring there were no problems.
When Fang Zheng returned to the teleportation point, under the efforts of the explorers, the rudimentary form of a base had already been constructed. Knight Commander Wells had also arrived, and upon learning from Fang Zheng that the Giant of Light had self-detonated during its battle with the Demon Beast Lord, the Knight Commander was also full of sighs.
But regardless, the cause of the demon creature uprising in the Northlands had been found, and for now, they had occupied most of the Northlands.
But what was unexpected to Wells and Bishop Carl was……
“Your Excellency Fang Zheng, don’t you plan to occupy this area?”
Bishop Carl’s eyes widened in surprise, staring at Fang Zheng in front of him, not knowing what to say. Originally, he thought Fang Zheng would make a claim on the territory here, but to Carl’s surprise, Fang Zheng just mentioned he planned to return to the Heavenly Dao Palace. The area was no longer in great danger now that the source of the demon beast riot had been identified, and the lords of the demon creatures in this Chaos Land had also suffered heavy losses.
Since his task was completed and he had obtained what he needed, Fang Zheng had no interest in staying in this icy land any longer.
But this was unexpected for Bishop Carl. He had never imagined that Fang Zheng would have no interest in such a large piece of land!
“I think the Heavenly Dao Palace is quite good, and I have no plans to move. My task is complete, so I’ll leave this region to the Sanctuary to manage.”
Fang Zheng expressed that he really had no interest in this dreadful place. Not to mention that this land of Chaos already had a subarctic climate, and the Heavenly Dao Palace wasn’t at a point where it needed to relocate. Moreover, compared to an immovable territory, Fang Zheng preferred a mobile main base.
“This……”
Honestly, hearing Fang Zheng’s answer left Bishop Carl completely dumbfounded. He had already discussed with the Sanctuary that if Fang Zheng showed any interest in this land, they could directly gift it to Fang Zheng, possibly even granting him a title at the Sanctuary for his merits. But unexpectedly, Fang Zheng truly was ready to leave without hesitation.
“Do you really have no special requests?”
“Hmm……”
Fang Zheng was no fool and naturally understood what Bishop Carl meant. After all, if they wanted to maintain good relations, mutual benefit and cooperation between them were essential. If Fang Zheng refused all benefits offered by the Sanctuary, it would be difficult for the Sanctuary to further their contact with the Heavenly Dao Palace.
Therefore, he paused for a moment and finally nodded.
“In that case, Bishop Carl, I’ve heard that in the depths of this land long eroded by Chaos, there exist veins of Spirit Crystals. If you discover any Spirit Crystal Veins here, I would like to have the mining rights. Also, the temporary base I established can be considered part of the Heavenly Dao Palace’s territory, and I hope no one will approach it without permission.”
“That’s certainly no problem.”
Responding to Fang Zheng’s request, Bishop Carl nodded, quickly agreeing. Spirit Crystal Veins are very rare, but as Fang Zheng mentioned, lands eroded by Chaos tend to accumulate vast amounts of Berserk Magic Power, which easily transforms the eroded minerals into Spirit Crystal Veins.
Such veins are most abundant in the Land of Chaos, but due to the nature of Chaos Land, few ventured to mine them. They could only wait for someone to dispel the Chaos and transform it into the Order Domain before entering to explore. Since Spirit Crystals are considered military materials, such undertakings were generally undertaken by nations.
Once the location of the Spirit Crystal Vein was confirmed, these nations would send their subordinates or certain families to specifically handle the mining. For Bishop Carl, granting Fang Zheng the mining rights to a Spirit Crystal Vein was no issue at all.
With all this settled, for Fang Zheng, the Northlands chapter was concluded. They had already occupied near four-fifths of the land, and most of the Chaos Monster Lords had been eliminated.
However, what disappointed Fang Zheng was that he hadn’t found anything useful in this place. The only things he discovered were the Goddess’s hot spring, the broken remains of a Guardian of the Goddess, and a large group of wailing creatures.
As for that Goddess’s hot spring and the wailing creatures……well, Fang Zheng didn’t want to bother with them and left them for the Sanctuary to handle.
After leaving Rodney and the Dark Realm as well as Terror in the Northlands for support, Fang Zheng took everyone else back to the Heavenly Dao Palace, and Fang Zheng himself headed straight to Ironblood World.
Now that the trouble in the Main World was dealt with, the most important thing next was the Zerg’s EMP!
