Chapter 525: Chapter 524 Flattering is a Necessary Skill
“I can hardly believe my own eyes…”
James swallowed hard as he looked at the scene before him. After receiving the radar signal feedback, he had hurriedly boarded his combat aircraft and rushed to the battlefield. And when James arrived, he happened to witness Fang Zheng summoning the Meteor Storm and leveling both the Blossom Beast and Godzilla in one stroke.
This sight sent shivers down James’s spine; he had never imagined a giant dragon could possess such power!
Could it really pluck a meteor from space and crush these monsters to ash? How was this even possible? What was the principle behind this? Could someone tell me what on earth was happening? Was this not all a dream?
James didn’t get an answer. The blast wave from the plummeting meteor almost blew his fighter jet away. If it weren’t for the pilot regaining his composure at the last moment, James might have ended up pondering the question at sea instead.
But now, James didn’t even have time to savor the joy of surviving such a catastrophe because he saw the giant dragon flap its wings, seemingly ready to leave.
No, it absolutely couldn’t be allowed to leave!
“Quick, get over there! Get beside that dragon! As planned, I want to communicate with it!”
“You’ve truly lost your mind, sir!”
Upon hearing James’ order, the fighter pilot couldn’t help retorting, but he still followed the command and flew towards the location of the giant dragon. Meanwhile, James stared fixedly at the dragon, hoping it would notice him instead of turning away as before–if that happened, there would be no chance for communication.
Naturally, Fang Zheng also noticed the fighter jet. He turned his head, eyeing the little thing. In fact, Fang Zheng hadn’t intended to leave just yet; he was actually looking forward to bluffing with the humans of this world. However, he had previously stated he disdained to walk with humans, so if they wanted to communicate with him, they would have to show some sincerity.
But after seeing James in the fighter jet, something stirred within Fang Zheng, and he immediately initiated telepathy.
“Mortals, what do you seek to do now?”
“Great giant dragon!”
Upon hearing the voice emerge in his mind once again, James was overcome with excitement. Had he not been seated in the jet, he might even have knelt down to worship the creature.
“Please wait, I have come to communicate with you!”
“I do not believe there is anything worth communicating between you lowly humans and myself.”
Although this was also Fang Zheng’s purpose, he naturally couldn’t just agree. As a human himself, Fang Zheng knew all too well that humans don’t cherish what comes easily; only that which is obtained through hardship is truly valued. So, he “haughtily” snorted.
“I have witnessed the rise and fall of countless empires, the birth, and extinction of species. Throughout the endless spans of time, only the foolishness of mortals remains unchanged…”
Thankfully, Fang Zheng had already checked online and knew this world didn’t have the Rainstorm Corporation. Otherwise, just for that sentence, he might have had to pay a copyright fee.
Although Fang Zheng knew these lines by heart, poor James was clueless! So when he heard Fang Zheng speak, he felt as though he had been transcended. The giant dragon before him seemed like a powerful being that had crossed millions of years of time, making James feel an irrepressible urge to prostrate himself in worship… oh, but he’s still buckled in!
“But we share the same goal, great Giant Dragon!”
Soon, James spoke again, this time with all due respect.
“I know you are here to annihilate these evil monsters that have polluted the land, and they are also enemies of humanity! We hope to stand shoulder to shoulder with you and your subordinates in battle, together eliminating this threat from Another World!”
“Just with you?”
Fang Zheng squinted his eyes, displaying an expression of disdain and scorn.
“Your puppets are so fragile in the face of these malevolent invaders, unable to withstand a single blow. The wit and ingenuity of humanity are amusing but cannot hide your weakness and incompetence.”
Upon hearing the Giant Dragon’s mockery, the two pilots of the Raider showed expressions of resentment. They wanted to say something, but words failed them, because the truth was indeed as such. Their Raider was no match for Godzilla, and Godzilla was completely outclassed by the Giant Dragon before them… The facts were clear, and there was nothing they could say to change them.
“But we humans also live on this land! We too desire to fight these monsters and protect this planet, just as you do!”
This guy must have walked onto the wrong movie set.
Watching James in the cockpit, full of fervor, Fang Zheng was somewhat stunned. Wasn’t he a scientist? Why did he seem like a zealous Believer now? But upon further thought, it seemed like people from Europe and America all had this tendency–science and faith intertwined?
Anyway, it had nothing to do with him.
“I, I want to ask you to see our determination and strength. We have been battling these monsters, and we have also vanquished them. We have the right and the power to fight for this world!”
Having spoken all these words in one breath, James was panting heavily. In front of him, the Giant Dragon narrowed its golden eyes, watching him coldly. After a moment, the voice of the Giant Dragon echoed in his mind once more.
“How interesting… This reminds me of times gone by… Very well, I want to see just what kind of courage you insignificant humans have to utter such lofty proclamations before me…”
“Yes… Please, come with me! I will take you to our base…”
Hearing this, James felt a long release of breath. He had never expected his desperate gamble to pay off–the Giant Dragon was actually willing to communicate with them! Although it was only a beginning, and its attitude towards humanity still didn’t seem overly friendly, at least it was willing to communicate!
For humanity, that was enough!
As long as communication was possible, there were endless possibilities between the two parties. This was not only about now but also about the future… The significance of this was no less important than Armstrong landing on the moon, in fact, even more critical. This was humanity’s first interaction with an unknown, highly-intelligent, non-human species! If they succeeded, they would usher in a new era for humanity!
With these thoughts, James trembled with excitement while signaling the pilot to guide the Giant Dragon with the fighter jet and rapidly establishing contact with the base.
“Prepare immediately, we are about to receive a distinguished guest!!”
