Chapter 911: 910 Holiday Begins
“Hmm.”
Li Wei pushed open the door to his house and was immediately greeted by the sight of Donald Yee sitting on the sofa, leafing through the latest issue of the “Wall Street Journal.” Judging by the crisp, fresh ink, it must have just rolled off the press.
It seemed that Donald had just arrived from New York to Kansas City.
Li Wei grinned, “I thought it was Sherlock coming back for an encore.”
Donald wasn’t fazed, “Where’d they go?”
“The Caribbean,” Li Wei replied. “Which specific island, I didn’t ask. Travis, on the other hand, went to the Mediterranean with his girlfriend.”
Donald neatly folded the newspaper, “I didn’t know Travis was dating someone.”
“Oh, it’s nothing new. He’s gotten back together with Kayla,” Li Wei said.
Donald’s eyebrows lifted slightly.
Li Wei laughed outright, “I know, dating among millennials is always this way–breaking up, getting back together, rinse and repeat.”
Unlike his brother Jason Kelce, Travis Kelce has always embraced modern dating trends. His first publicly known girlfriend came from his very own dating show, similar to “The Bachelor,” where a group of female contestants competed for the chance to date him. After the show concluded, he started seeing the winner.
Unfortunately, the relationship lasted only six months before they split.
Later, Kelce began dating internet influencer Kayla Nicole Brown. The two started seeing each other before Li Wei and Mahomes joined the Kansas City Chiefs, but their relationship has been a series of on-again, off-again cycles–
Kayla had caught Kelce red-handed twice, finding him in bed with other women. They broke up decisively each time, but Kelce couldn’t let her go and managed to win her back.
Their love story has become a subject of gossip in the Kansas City Chiefs’ locker room, rivaling Colombian soap operas in its sheer melodrama–scandal after scandal.
Not just Donald, but even Li Wei and Mahomes often found themselves taken aback.
Donald decided to drop the inquiry, “And how did your meeting with the Gallas family go?”
Li Wei nodded lightly, “It went smoothly; we can officially move into the prep stages now.”
“I talked to JJ. He said February and March are the busiest times in Hollywood with the Oscars happening–party after party. Maybe I should organize one myself to fundraise for the foundation.”
Donald replied, “Ah, March might be a bit tough.”
Li Wei paused mid-motion as he was about to sit down, “I thought it was just February. March doesn’t work either?”
Donald nodded, “It’s going to be tricky.”
Li Wei threw himself onto the sofa, sprawling out dramatically, “Everyone else is on vacation, and here I am working. It’s not fair.”
With the Super Bowl over and the offseason underway, Mahomes, Kelce, and the rest of the crew had jetted off to island resorts, eager to escape winter. For professional players, this brief window is the only time all year to truly let loose. Even if it’s not a complete and reckless escape, it’s still a precious break from year-round training and competing.
During this short period, players don’t have to worry about training regimens, dietary restrictions, or playbooks–they can simply relax.
But Li Wei was the exception.
Even before the victory parade, Donald had already delivered the bad news–
A packed schedule.
While others were resting, this was precisely the time for the season’s regular-season and Super Bowl MVP to capitalize on availability. Especially for training maniacs like Li Wei, who barely has any downtime, everyone was clamoring to book him, completely filling up his calendar.
Donald couldn’t help but smile warmly as he saw Li Wei act so childishly defiant for once. It brought out a rare sense of humor in the veteran agent.
Li Wei looked over at Donald. “Tom’s vacation schedule isn’t this packed too, is it?”
Donald shook his head, “No, the sponsors have already had their fill of him. He’s currently doing crazy things in the Caribbean, and everybody thinks he’s gone mad.”
Li Wei curled his lip, “What’s so crazy about cliff diving? I want to try it too.”
Donald remarked, “If it were you, it wouldn’t be crazy at all. But for him? I question whether his brain is working right. Could it be that losing to you at the Conference Championship hit him that hard this year?”
Donald very seriously roasted Brady, making Li Wei laugh heartily–
Brady, too, was vacationing with his family.
He posted a video on Instagram of himself cliff-diving, captioning it as part of his vacation fun–only to get roasted by netizens. This backlash was entirely unexpected.
The reason? Brady had just turned forty-one, and taking on such high-risk extreme sports could lead to injury, which was seen as highly irresponsible and unprofessional. The offseason has seen countless non-training-related incidents resulting in injuries, which could have severe consequences for both players and teams.
In 2015, Jason Pierre-Paul lost fingers while setting off fireworks. In 2016, Darren McFardden fractured his elbow after slipping in his kitchen. In 2017, Ramon Foster severed a fingertip while DIY renovating his home.
And so on.
Accidents aside, the aftermath could throw a team’s plans into disarray.
Historically, Brady has been extremely disciplined and professional, rarely drifting off course. But this year, he suddenly snapped.
Netizens speculated that Brady might be experiencing a midlife crisis triggered by his loss at the Conference Championship. Seeking to prove he’s still young, he’s turned to extreme activities–similar to those stereotypical middle-aged men embarking on bizarre adventures to claw at the fading remnants of youth.
The reaction was undoubtedly outside Brady’s expectations.
Li Wei shrugged lightly, “Maybe he’s just trying to prove something. But we shouldn’t stop him–he’s on vacation, okay?”
For emphasis, Li Wei added weight to the word “vacation.”
Donald replied, “Everyone’s on vacation, but you’re raking in money. They should be envious of you instead.”
Li Wei tilted his head back, gazing at the ceiling, “Sure, but earning money is supposed to let you relax and sprawl out on vacations. If you make all the money but don’t have time to spend it, isn’t that heartbreaking?”
Donald laughed aloud, “Want me to schedule a vacation for you right now?”
Li Wei took a deep breath, “How about we hear the offer first? If it’s a good deal, there’s no need for me to act all aloof and play hard to get, right?”
“Haha,” Donald couldn’t help himself–
Transparent.
This side of Li Wei was exactly what Donald loved.
So, Donald didn’t keep him in suspense any longer.
“I’ve gone through four rounds of filtering, and this final list–every brand here is trustworthy and worth considering. You can take your pick.”
“First up is Net-Jet, a company specializing in executive and private jet services, including private jet rentals, catering to high-end clientele.”
“They’ve always been cautious in choosing spokespersons, aiming to position themselves as premium and exclusive. They’ve never compromised on quality when it comes to brand ambassadors.”
“Their previous ambassador was Roger Federer.”
“However, with Federer’s career winding down, they’ve been searching for someone to take over. I was surprised they offered a bid.”
“And they’re serious about it.”
“Seven million US dollars annually, with a ten-year contract.”
