Chapter 29: Admiration Arises Despite Being Unclear

Chen B-Dog had the Grade S hunting skill and it was at LV6 already. It would not be a joke when he was serious. The bait was formed in no time.

Naturally, the audiences did not believe it fully. Someone doubted whether it would be useful. B-Dog did not make further explanations. “Whether it is useful or not, we will know by tomorrow. As long as there is an animal stepping into the trap and it is not too big, it should work. But we cannot expect too much, we have to set few more traps, to increase the hit rate of hunting.”

“Besides the simple rope trap, there are many traps we can try, such as the pit trap.”

“This kind of trap has its weakness. The pit will disturb the environment and leave a mark. This will raise the alarm for some animals. On the other hand, some animals will be curious and forgo their judgment. They will come to explore. The fox, pig, wildcat, and badger like to dig holes and they will be attracted by the holes. When they craned their necks to smell it, they will not be able to withdraw their head. Even if they use their claws, they will fall into the trap.”

Chen B-Dog was talking while creating it. His movements were very brisk. The simple equipment looked useless but he managed to turn them into precious equipment and made a powerful trap. Wasn’t that art?

The admiration of the audience arose despite being unclear. They fall in awe without even noticing. There was a reason that the youngsters adore the experienced old hunter.

“There are plenty of materials at the surrounding, as long as you are good at searching.”

B-Dog picked an appropriate location and cut a tough wood stick. He started to work on it and explained patiently, “You could also use a suitable elastic wood to make a simple bow and tie it to the cross pile. Sharpen one side of the tree branch to make a simple arrow and arch it on the tight string. The toggle rod which is connected with the tripping rope will hold out against the trigger on the side nock groove which balances the bow and arrow. I will use three fingers to estimate the distance. The short stake on the ground will change the force direction of the tripping rope. The location where the animal touches the rope is exactly the direction of arrows pointing. This kind of trap is suitable to catch the big animals which attack from the front or the animal which approaches from the side of the rope. If there is any animal passing by, the arrow will shoot the animal running in front.”

After five minutes, “…Done, let’s try the power of this trap.”

Chen B-Dog adjusted the camera angle then fiddled with the trap carefully. A few million audiences watched open-eyed and they saw the trigger moved under the impetus of the tripping rope. “Woosh”, the arrows were shooting out quickly and powerfully. The audiences were stunned, “Holy sh*t! Is this a toy? Who can escape when the arrows hit the body?”

Chen B-Dog was pretty satisfied with it. He reset the trap then stood up and talked seriously to the camera, “Now, I am warning every one of you.”

“Please do not use any trap and hacks I have mentioned to set it in a public area. It will become a hidden killer. Furthermore, please do not simply hunt. It should be only used as the last resort to survive harsh times. It is not a game. If you do not listen and act by yourself, I am not responsible for any consequences!”

“Bravo.”

“Lord B-Dog is so strict.”

“This trap can kill.”

“I am dumb. I learn nothing even if you teach.”

Chen B-Dog continued to cut a few arm-size tree branches. He took a lap around the tent and then called it a night.

He returned to the bonfire just in time to enjoy his ginseng hot tea. The bonfire crackled, the wind moaned, the wolf roared and the animals growled leaving B-Dog lost in thought.

“Did everyone hear that? The continuous roaring of the animals, does it not sound like the symphony of the primitive jungle?”

In the midst of sorrow, B-Dog did not forget to enjoy, “I have been rushing myself during the daytime so had no time to have a good talk with you guys. I think there are many new members that are feeling confused as they do not know me well. Before I rest, let’s have a talk. If you have any questions, feel free to send pop-up comments to me.”

Just as he finished speaking, the live broadcast room was flooded with messages. Somebody asked why he was not afraid being alone? Somebody asked why he was so clever? Somebody offered to be his girlfriend…

After watching for some time, Chen B-Dog smiled, “It seems like everybody is interested in me. There are too many questions and I cannot answer all. I think it is better to share with everyone my story.”

The bonfire reflected his face. At this moment, unlike the wildness and funny during the daytime, he spoke sincerely, “Every time, at this moment, when I sit alone in front of a bonfire in the quiet jungle, I feel the need to talk and communicate. In the wild, you can forget all the troubles in the city. You do not have to work so hard for money. You do not have to work under a busy working life. You do not have to worry about the house loan and you do not have to get involved in office politics… It gives you peaceful feeling.”

“One month ago, I was still lying on the sickbed. I was 112kg when I was discharged. When I touched my fat belly, I thought, this is certainly not the life I want. That was the first day of the New Year and it was one month before the Chinese New Year. I hate to celebrate festivals because I do not know how to face my parents. I guess there are many people who are working away from home will feel the same. All children miss their parents but the majority does not want their parents to see their failure.”

Along with his sincere speech, the audiences in the live broadcast were touched. Even the pop-up comments lessen.

However, Chen B-Dog did not know something. Inside a double story house which was located in a small mountain town, at the border of ErBei nearby HN area, his brother and sister were holding a laptop and showing the live broadcast content to his parents.

Chen B-Dog’s mum could not help bursting into tears when she saw her son who had slimmed down, speaking his true thoughts towards the audience sincerely.

“…I miss my dad and mum too. I did not go home for Chinese New Year last year because I earned nothing. I am truly sorry, this year I am not going home again this festival. I called my mum last time and told her that I did not need to act as the Japanese army or corpse at Heng Dian anymore. I told her that I am making a show, I am earning money now. But they do not know I am doing a live broadcast in the wild. I worry they would not be able to accept it.”

“Luckily my brother and sister are more successful than me. I did not score in high school and just able to join a third class art school. My brother and sister are much better than me. My brother is learning photography at Yanjing Film Institute. My sister is talking business administration course at Shanghai Economics School. I don’t have to worry when they are at home.”

Chen B-Dog stopped for a while and his eyes looked like absent-minded. After a while, he mocked himself, “…Did I go on too much? I used to be a bored and a typical taciturn person. I could keep quiet for a whole day but I changed after I started live broadcasting. I am not saying it is tough in the wild, I am actually enjoying it. The loyal audience might know what happened after that.”

The loyal audience started to respond on the screen. Chen C-Dog, GuanQi and other followers started to type “I know.”, “Exercise.”, “Winter swim.”, “Morning run at the Great Wall.”, “Practicing fist.”…

Although the loyal audiences were not many, they were typing the messages in a neat order, magnificent and mighty. The new audience adored B-Dog despite not being clear of the full story.
