Chapter 392: Chapter 391 Pandora’s Shaping Ability
Days had gone by.
Richard’s design for the combat suit had been manufactured.
The complete set of clothing looked almost identical to ordinary attire, which was exactly the effect Richard had intended to avoid drawing attention.
However, within certain inner layers of the clothing, there were several Non-Newtonian Fluids installed, which could be called upon when needed.
As a result, the suit was somewhat heavy to wear and, due to poor breathability, could become stifling after a while.
Regardless, Richard now had three sets of clothing for different scenarios.
The first set was his combat attire.
The second set was the hermetically sealed protective suit originally crafted for tomb exploration to keep out hazardous substances like chlorine gas and viruses.
The third set was ordinary everyday clothing.
After some consideration, Richard decided that in safe areas, such as the Inner Box World or the laboratory in the outside courtyard, everyday clothing would suffice.
When entering areas of uncertainty–like going out–he could wear the combat suit.
And for entering special places resembling tombs, or under particular circumstances, the protective suit would be suitable.
…
Inner Box World.
Biological Function Sector, Sealed Chamber.
Wearing his protective suit, Richard carefully picked up a small sealed Glass Tube, which contained a half bottle of brown powder that resembled special soil particles.
He gently placed the small glass tube into a metal Iron Bucket, securing it and padding it with burlap to cushion any impact, then unceremoniously sealed the bucket shut.
After these precautions, Richard removed the bird-beak gas mask of the protective suit, wiped the sweat from his face, and let out a long sigh of relief.
He knew that an accident was almost impossible during the recent operation, but he still had to prepare for the worst case scenario. After all, the discoloration of his body caused by previous consumption of Bacitracin had just completely faded, and he did not wish for a repeat–especially since the brown powder in the glass tube was the very Fungal Spores that had almost killed him with a rapid onset of pneumonia.
After resolving the pneumonia, he had collected spore cultures from the tomb, carefully cultivating and selecting them. With the help of “Drifting Bottle,” he had obtained a perfect batch of spores to be used as weapons. After processing them, he planned to store them for when the need arose.
This concluded another experimental project. Now that there weren’t many projects left, and once he upgraded the portable laboratory equipment, he could genuinely consider leaving White Stone City.
With this in mind, Richard carefully decontaminated his entire body, changed out of the protective suit, and put on regular clothes before leaving the Biological Function Sector and entering the main laboratory.
After entering, Richard headed straight for the circular experiment stand and took down several scrolls from a wooden shelf, unrolling them to look at their contents, contemplating the long-standing upgrades needed for the laboratory.
At this moment, Pandora, having nothing to do and bored, dragged out several large boxes of collected glass pieces from a corner, her eyes shimmering with delight as she admired them.
Richard glanced over but didn’t make much of it, continuing with his own work.
Pandora paid no attention to Richard either, losing herself in the gleaming fragments surrounding her, looking left and right, then nodded her head with a serious expression as her lips moved silently, murmuring, “It should be enough…”
It should be enough!
Pandora began to work, pouring out glass shards from several boxes onto the floor, piling them into a small mountain, then reached out to touch the surface of the mound.
Oddly enough, where Pandora’s palm touched, the glass shards quickly softened, becoming liquid and started flowing and reshaping.
Hmm, the glass was melting, the glass was reshaping–itself–not a metal, but as a non-crystalline substance, it could be melted and reused like metal. In other words, broken glass doesn’t lose its value, it can completely be processed and remade into the utensil it was before damage. However, Richard had considered the cost of glass containers as not too high, not worth the savings, so he didn’t do this and didn’t give much thought to the broken shards, just giving them all to Pandora.
Now, Pandora was using these glass shards to make something she currently wanted.
The thing she wanted slowly took shape under the control of her special abilities.
First a huge head rose up, linked to a neck, which was set upon a majestic body. Then, on both sides of the body, enormous wings sprouted. Following closely, a tail emerged from behind, and sharp claws sprouted from the belly.
A dragon appeared!
This was the last shape-shifting adult dragon that once existed in the world, his name… Gregory.
The glass solidified and hardened bit by bit. Pandora stood by the side, watching the statue without moving, her face expressionless, lost in thought.
A hand fell on Pandora’s head and gently rubbed it.
Pandora tilted her head slightly and saw that without knowing when, Richard had set aside his busy work and appeared beside her.
Pandora subconsciously leaned towards Richard.
Richard spoke, asking, “Are you thinking of Gregory?”
“…” After a long silence, Pandora nodded, then shook her head.
“I… I don’t know, I just feel like… anyhow, I don’t know…” Pandora said earnestly, not shedding tears, just as she hadn’t when she’d stood at Gregory’s grave in the past.
“Sigh–”
Richard let out a breath and rubbed Pandora’s hair, saying, “Are you afraid of something? You’ve been accumulating glass shards but haven’t used them until today. During this time, it doesn’t seem like you ran into any trouble, so why did you suddenly want to create a statue of Gregory?”
“I…” Pandora was silent for a long time again, then after a while, she looked at Richard, gazed into his eyes and asked, “You’re leaving, aren’t you?”
“Mm…” Richard responded, then suddenly realized something, “Oh, I understand.”
Richard got it, truly understood why Pandora suddenly felt afraid.
Lately, he had been busy preparing for his departure, and his interaction with Pandora had unconsciously become scarce, which Pandora obviously felt.
So…
“Richard.” Pandora looked at Richard and asked, “When you leave this time, will you take me with you? Will it be like when we left the forest together?”
“I will.” Richard patted Pandora’s head, reassuring her firmly.
“No matter what happens, will you always do that?” Pandora pressed.
“Yes.”
“Why?” Pandora asked.
Richard raised an eyebrow and looked at Pandora, “If you ask about before, one-tenth of the reason was due to Gregory’s charge to me, one-tenth was because you were pitiful, and the rest was because I thought you might be useful as you grew–I had the patience to wait for you to grow up.”
“What about now?”
“Now? You have grown up, you are very useful.”
“Huh?” Pandora’s eyes widened, filled with surprise and curiosity, not understanding what Richard meant.
Richard’s expression turned serious, pointed to the glass sculpture beside them, and said, “How about we set aside some unnecessary matters, and then you explain to me properly, when did you acquire the ability to spontaneously generate temperatures above six hundred degrees Celsius and flexibly control fluid shaping?”
