Yin Fengchun’s finger landed on the answer button, and he put the receiver to his ear to listen.

A boy’s voice came from the phone, probably her younger brother, saying, “Big sister, mom and dad said they are going to visit you, and I can’t stop them. Second sister can’t make it back, what should we do?”

Wu Lixuan turned her head and saw that he, standing beside her eavesdropping, infuriated her as she said, “Yes, so you better let me go to avoid them suing you.”

“Sue me for what? Did I steal your kidney?” Yin Fengchun’s eyes narrowed nearly spilling out a smirk, why would he steal her kidney when all he wanted was to steal her heart.

“What I mean is, aren’t you mad hearing them talk nonsense about you?” Wu Lixuan turned her head to shout at him.

“Not mad.”

“How can you not be mad?”

“Let them come. I’ll explain to them clearly as I am your attending physician; it’s my duty to clarify things to them.”

“Impossible.”

“Your parents have the right to know as family members. It’s my obligation to explain to them.”

“I said it’s impossible,” Wu Lixuan stood up again, her emotions surging, making her shiver all over, “Can’t you be a bit flexible? After you remove the tubes, I’ll go home for a few days and then come back; you can do whatever you want afterward.”

Flexible? How could one be flexible in such matters? Clearly, those not in medicine don’t understand.

Yin Fengchun rubbed his fingers over his eyebrows, looked up at her pale face, and immediately grabbed her shoulders to make her sit down. “Now is not suitable for tube removal. If it were possible, I would have removed it earlier. You could go anywhere after the removal, but you’d probably need to be readmitted to the hospital for resuscitation within a few hours.”

“Think of something else.”

“There is no other way to think about; the tubes cannot be removed,” Yin Fengchun concluded, each word deliberate.

He truly seemed cruel at that moment–describing him as cold would be inaccurate as his gaze wasn’t cold, yet his attitude was absolutely resolute, clearly indicating that there was no room for discussion with her about this matter.

Wu Lixuan stared at him wide-eyed, realizing she had no way to persuade him, her whole heart trembling at that moment.

What should she do? What could she do? If she couldn’t return, what horrible consequences might her parents suffer from those two.

Seeing that her hand seemed to be reaching for the drainage tube on her body, Yin Fengchun’s expression drastically changed, his face turning fiercely cold as he quickly stretched out his right hand and tightly grasped her wrist.
