Chapter 936: Worried about her

Huang Zhilei and Zhou Junpeng exchanged looks at the door: “This can’t go on, right? If she really pulls out the tubes, it’ll be a big deal, and she might have to go back into the OR.”

Zhou Junpeng turned to find a nurse, calling out, “Bring over some diazepam.”

Huang Zhilei pulled out his phone to report the latest developments to Senior Cao.

“Is she going to pull out the tubes?” Cao Yong frowned deeply.

“Not sure, she’s arguing with Yin Fengchun now. We might need to give her an injection to calm her down first. After that–” Huang Zhilei was at a loss, hoping only that Senior Cao had some solution.

While on the phone, Cao Yong reached out his hand.

Xie Wanying’s hand, which had been resting on the table, was suddenly grasped by the Senior across from her. Startled, she thought that he couldn’t be assuming she was about to do something foolish, right? Not to mention that she wouldn’t do anything foolish herself, she didn’t think her childhood friend would either. Only a moment of anxious urgency was possible. After all, it was occasionally unclear what might happen with her friend’s parents’ heads.

Catching her gaze, regardless, Cao Yong was genuinely worried.

“Why would Senior Cao hold her hand if her friend had an accident?”

“Maybe he’s worried that she’ll do something terrible because of her friend’s incident and get him involved?”

That was possible. The three of them frowned.

“Her friend really might get into trouble. She doesn’t know martial arts, yet she dared to try to snatch a knife from someone intent on suicide,” said Shen Xifei, who found Wu Lixuan’s actions odd. She wasn’t a doctor or a nurse with no responsibility, yet willing to risk her life to wrestle the knife away. An ordinary person, especially just a girl without any physical strength, who would dare to do such a thing?

“She’s out of her mind,” Zhang Xiaohui commented.

The other two looked at her: Correct.

“The craziest part is, for some reason, there are rumors about her relationship with Doctor Yin,” said Shen Xifei, finding the whole thing laughable. Even though the news had spread throughout the hospital, she didn’t believe those two could make it.

Doctors often date within the same system, such as medical school classmates, teachers from public institutions, civil servants, police officers, judges, and the like. The reason being that doctors as a group cherish stability; a stable partner, stable family life, to push their careers forward. The teachers in the hospital mostly all ended up with spouses from those professions.

When it comes to love, they’ve seen too many heart-wrenching stories clinically. Doctors tend to believe in the sentiment of ‘steady companionship equals finding a reliable marriage partner’ and are less convinced by passion.

This is because doctors are busy, so busy that being a doctor’s spouse means making way for them to save lives at the hospital. Just this point alone makes it difficult for outsiders to accept being the one at home often making selfless sacrifices.

Passion fades, and without mutual understanding, love can collapse at any moment. Marriage is a long-term commitment, not an impulsive emotion.

“Don’t listen to their gossip; I reckon a lot of them think the same as us,” said Huang Beibei, similarly not optimistic about the couple.
