Chapter 943: Senior apprentice, you are late.

After washing her face, Xie Wanying walked out of the bathroom and bowed to Teacher Lu, “Thank you, Teacher!”

“Don’t mention it,” Teacher Lu patted her shoulder and said with a smile, “Get up, let’s wash some apples to eat.”

There were about ten apples in the bag, and Xie Wanying picked three to wash in the kitchen.

Teacher Lu gestured for Yu Xuexian to sit down and said, “I’ll go get the money for the rice.”

“No need,” Yu Xuexian didn’t let her take the money.

The telephone on the living room table rang. Teacher Lu, who was going to get her purse, had to come back first, picked up the receiver, and listened.

It seemed someone had told a joke on the other end.

Teacher Lu immediately threw back her head and laughed, pointing to the person washing apples in the kitchen, “You’re late!”

“What?” The person on the other end was taken aback, puzzled by what she meant.

“I mean you called too late, Cao Yong, I’ve already sorted it out for her,” Teacher Lu explained.

At Teacher Lu’s house? Cao Yong, the caller, was so shocked that he was momentarily speechless, wondering what was going on. He hadn’t made the introduction; who introduced Teacher Lu to the junior sister?

Yu Xuexian was equally puzzled by Xie Wanying’s sudden appearance at the teacher’s house, asking, “Teacher, how do you know her? Who introduced her?”

“Who introduced her? Do I need someone to introduce her? We met on the street, isn’t she a student from our Medical College?” Teacher Lu said breezily.

There were plenty of teachers at the Medical College. Xie Wanying was not a pharmaceutical student, and Teacher Lu, being retired and only working at the research institute, had no dealings with her. If they had met on the street, it would normally just be as strangers passing by. If there had been any academic interaction worth noting, they would have known each other already.

“She was walking down the street, lost in thought and almost ran into a tree,” Teacher Lu recounted the morning’s minor incident with a chuckle, “I called out to her, then seeing the distressing gentian violet on her face, I remembered my own past torment with gentian violet and knew exactly what it was about, so I took her back to my place to help her out.”

The single-minded junior sister nearly walked into a tree trunk. Cao Yong listened on the phone, unsure how to describe his current feelings. It seemed the junior sister indeed needed to relax a bit, maybe he should take her out for a drive again soon.

Listening to the teacher’s words in the kitchen, Xie Wanying was so embarrassed she could feel it down to her toes, only to hear Senior Brother Yu laughing loudly in the living room.

“I know you guys know her, especially you, Cao Yong,” Teacher Lu winked at Yu Xuexian and whispered to Cao Yong on the phone.

Xie Wanying, well, she had been hearing lately that the stinky boy from the Cao Family was finally going to date someone.

The usually reclusive Teacher Lu had actually picked up gossiping. Cao Yong wondered on the other end who had let the news slip.

Yu Xuexian chuckled and asked on behalf of Cao Yong, “Teacher, how do you know if the person themselves hasn’t confirmed it?”

“How could I not know? Teacher Chiang, the dean’s wife–”

Teacher Lu was a frequent visitor to Teacher Chiang’s. It didn’t take much to figure out it had been the Old Naughty Boy’s couple who had spilled the beans. Cao Yong let out a breath of relief on the phone.

“–said she was helping to matchmake the two of them,” Teacher Lu mimicked Teacher Chiang’s motion of match-making, glanced at Yu Xuexian, and decided not to trouble Cao Yong further, turning instead to talk about the student in front of her, “What’s your story? I heard about you and that Kang Mingzhu–”

“No, no,” Yu Xuexian quickly waved his hands dismissively.
