“Your imagination really is rich.”

Wen Ran said with a playful smile, “I just wanted to get some air. Mo Xiuchen is busy with company matters, and it just so happens that my brother is free to accompany me to see you. You wouldn’t be unwelcoming of my visit, would you?”

By the end, she feigned displeasure with a pout.

Bai Xiaoxiao put on a full-faced smile, “Of course I welcome you, Ranran. Since Mo Xiuchen isn’t here, you might as well stay here with me until the baby is born and then go back.”

“Are you sure?”

Wen Ran asked.

“Mhm, if you’re willing to spend your life with me, I’d consider it worth it to be Mo Xiuchen’s love rival.”

Bai Xiaoxiao valiantly patted her chest, presenting herself as willing to go through thick and thin and willingly oppose Mo Xiuchen for her, which made Wen Ran laugh heartily.

After dinner, Wen Jin went back to the hotel first, while Bai Xiaoxiao kept Wen Ran from leaving.

After taking a bath, the two laid on the bed, Bai Xiaoxiao gave her pillow to Wen Ran, ensuring she was comfortable, and they chatted.

“Xiaoxiao, I know about you and Luo Haofeng.”

Wen Ran said this just as Bai Xiaoxiao was stretching to grab some milk, and upon hearing it, her body stiffened slightly before quickly returning to normal.

She handed the milk to Wen Ran, and said casually, “Ranran, that’s all in the past. I’m doing very well on my own now.”

“Mo Xiuchen said that Luo Haofeng was set up.”

Wen Ran looked at Bai Xiaoxiao, who tried to act indifferent, but could not hide it from Wen Ran, her sister in spirit.

Eventually, Bai Xiaoxiao’s expression did stiffen, and she pursed her lips lightly, “Ranran, it’s really over with Luo Haofeng this time. Regardless of whether he was set up or not, I can’t accept that he slept with another woman while he was with me.”

The next day, Wen Ran met Miqin, whom Bai Xiaoxiao had mentioned to her a few times.

Miqin was greeting customers at the cafe she worked at.

She wore a plaid shirt and jeans, a very simple outfit.

Even when she smiled, there was a coolness about her that surprised Wen Ran, and what’s more, this girl named Miqin really did bear some resemblance to her.

“Ranran, this is the Miqin I’ve told you about, my lifesaver. Miqin, this is my best friend Wen Ran. Now you can see her and prove I wasn’t lying,” Bai Xiaoxiao said, introducing them with a smile.

“Miss Wen, nice to meet you.”

Miqin put on a polite, professional smile, yet it conveyed a sense of distance as she nodded, “Miss Mi, thank you for saving Xiaoxiao last time.”

“It was just a coincidence.”

Miqin spoke with an air of nonchalance.

Another table of customers called out, and she turned her head to glance at them, then said to Wen Ran and Bai Xiaoxiao, “I need to attend to the other customers. Please, enjoy your time.”

Watching Miqin leave to greet other guests, Bai Xiaoxiao asked, “Ranran, I didn’t lie to you, right? She does look a bit like you, doesn’t she?”

“Yeah, there is a resemblance. Did she go to the same school as you?”

Wen Ran asked casually, looking at the busy Miqin through the glass column.

Bai Xiaoxiao shook her head: “Not the same school, but it’s not too far away.”

“I really didn’t expect that. In this world, someone actually resembles me.” Wen Ran said in surprise.

Bai Xiaoxiao laughed happily, “It’s fate, I suppose. Heaven must pity me, alone in a foreign land, missing you but unable to see you. So, it sent Miqin, who looks like you, to my side to alleviate my yearning.”

“Don’t make it sound like we’ve got a problem.” Wen Ran rolled her eyes and corrected her word choice, amused.

“Did she grow up here in D Country since she was a child?”

Wen Ran asked curiously.

“No, she was in our country when she was young. I think she moved here with her mother later. As for the details, I’m not very clear.”

“I thought you and she were close friends. Didn’t you invite her over to your place yesterday?”

Wen Ran teased Bai Xiaoxiao.

“She doesn’t seem to like making friends. She’s pretty indifferent to me; I’m always the one clinging to her.” Bai Xiaoxiao pursed her lips and said gloomily, “Who asked her to look a bit like you? Ranran, if you were here with me, I wouldn’t feel so lonely.”

Because Miqin bore a resemblance to Wen Ran and had fortuitously saved her that night, Bai Xiaoxiao naturally felt an increased fondness for Miqin.

Gu Kai was unaware that Wen Jin had accompanied Wen Ran to D Country. That afternoon, he left T University earlier than usual and drove to the factory, intending to check out Wen Jin’s newly developed drug.

Upon arriving at the factory, he discovered that Wen Jin was not there.

The person receiving him was Wen Jin’s secretary, Bai Yiyi.

“You’re saying, Ah Jin went abroad?” Gu Kai looked at Bai Yiyi with disbelief, his narrow eyes surveying her from head to toe. Dressed in her business attire, she appeared more elegantly professional and poised than usual, having shed her usual wildness.

Seeing him staring at her, Bai Yiyi slightly furrowed her brow and said indifferently, “Yes, President Wen has gone to D Country with Ranran. They said they won’t return until in a couple of days.”

“Where are you going?”

Bai Yiyi answered and turned to leave.

When Gu Kai saw her walking away without saying goodbye, after only a few words, his handsome face immediately darkened, and his voice rose with a tinge of displeasure.

Bai Yiyi turned around and gave him a strange look: “Going back to work, Doctor Gu. If you have nothing else, please leave.”

“I do have something.”

Gu Kai’s voice was heavy, his face clearly expressing ‘I am very angry.’

Bai Yiyi laughed dismissively, her professional smile tinged with sarcasm: “If you have business with President Wen, you must wait until he returns.”

With that, she walked into her office. Seeing her closing the door, Gu Kai instinctively stepped forward, put out a hand, and blocked it.

“What are you doing, Gu Kai?”

Bai Yiyi saw Gu Kai’s arm propped against the doorframe, his tall figure standing in the doorway blocking her from closing the door, and her face turned cold in an instant.

Gu Kai’s gaze swept over her foot as he took a large step into her office, scanned the room, then commandeered her chair and commanded in a domineering manner, “Get me a glass of water.”
