Chapter 40: Please Behave, Mr. Qiao (1)

Xia Yanxi recalled that her change of clothes was still in the same room where Bai Wenxuan had forced himself on her. She pulled the door open, wanting to retrieve her clothes. Before she could leave, the slender yet powerful arm reached in, cupping her shoulders with one, and the other, closing the door.

Before she could react, her slender body was tugged into his embrace, into his broad yet firm chest. Her chin was then held lightly by him, guided by his frail-looking yet strong hand, she lifted her head.

Xia Yanxi’s eyes, filled with surprise, were met with his abyssal onyx-like eyes. There was hardly any emotion shown on his face. Under his well-shaped nose was a pair of supple and sexy lips. Without any warning, he planted his to hers, sudden but not intrusive, unwelcomed yet inviting at the same time.

His arms held her firmly around her exquisite waist, plastering himself to her. The air around them froze, as if time itself had paused during the kiss. All she could hear was the sound of his heartbeat. All she could feel was his passionate burning lips, pressing against hers, gently. The smell of him, mixed with faint tobacco, filled her entire being.

And then, she came to. Her heart tightened. Slightly enraged, she wanted to push him away but Qiao Yanli released her on his own accord.

“From this moment on, only I can taste the lips of Mrs. Qiao. That man… he kissed you and I’ve gotten rid of any traces of him from your lips,” said the man as he patted the girl’s head gently.

“Go. Get change. Your husband wants to introduce you to a few of his friends.”

She did not want to follow him but since he did come to her rescue, she felt that it was only right for her to repay the deed.

When she left the room, he was waiting for her outside. She walked sprightly past him. Qiao Yanli wanted to hold her hand but when his fingers touched hers, she brushed them aside. Since she clearly did not want to touch his hands, he did not want to force her into it.

He took the lead and she followed behind obediently, in one single file.

There she was again, walking behind him. He had a good look at his face and observed his every move. Every sway, every step, every subtle movement he made was clearly refined to that of the definition of elegance. It was hard to believe that such a man was just an assistant CEO.

From her vantage point, she was able to get a glimpse of the corner of his face. His jawline, like a chiselled marble statue, was defined and flawless. If she could just take a picture then, the man would appear to be like a famous drawing of a portrait.

They headed up to the second floor of the club and arrived at a booth. Exquisite was the word to describe the area. Even the flooring was carpeted with red fur that had been trimmed and fluffed to that befitting of a king’s chamber. Each booth was partitioned with mahogany wood. To complete the ensemble, they were carved and polished with oriental designs so precise that one would think that they were real.

Xia Yanxi took her time to soak in the craftsmanship that went into the making of the wood piece. She then noticed that Qiao Yanli had stopped to wait for her in front of the grandest booth. Stunned, she asked, “Yanli, did you make a wrong turn?”

The booth was known to be the most costly one in the club. A single sitting would fetch tens of thousands of dollars. Though he might be the assistant CEO of Qiao Group, but he could not possibly spend so lavishly!

Before Qiao Yanli could respond, the door to the booth was flung open. A man with the most seductive smile and carefree eyes stepped out.

“Second Brother! You’re finally back! Big Brother and Shaoze even asked me to look for you!” he said. Just then, he spotted the ever so beautiful Xia Yanxi and bowed slightly. The curve of his already suggestive smile arched even more prominently.

“Oh Sister-In-Law! Do you remember me? We met once before!”

How could she not remember such a face?

Her lower lip shifted from left to right, thinking about the man and how she should behave. In the end, she decided to go with being polite and formal. She extended her right hand, offering a handshake, and said, “Of course. It’s nice to meet you again. I’m Xia Yanxi.”

“Nice to meet you too! I’m Chu Muzhi. Sister-In-Law, you can just call me Muzhi!”

The ever-silent Qiao Yanli suddenly coughed slightly when he saw Chu Muzhi shaking Xia Yanxi’s petite hand.

At that moment, Chu Muzhi immediately let go and chuckled apologetically.

“Ahh… Second Brother has become a stinge now that he’s married. Come now, I was just shaking her hand. Don’t dwell too much on it!”

Qiao Yanli gave him a cold stare and replied, “You talk too much!”

Right then, he grabbed hold of her hand, and entered the booth.
