Chapter 31: Cleaning the Sand

Feeling humiliated, Toya didn’t walk towards the Student Union office.

She chose a remote path to calm down in a place with no one around.

The path wasn’t smooth and was scattered with stones and sand.

Toya was pricked a few times until the man behind could no longer watch. He picked her up.

Reyes knelt on one knee in front of her and bent slightly. He dragged her feet with one hand and wrapped a finger in a tissue with the other. He scraped gently on the sole of her foot.

The sand on her feet rolled down.

There was a slight itch when the sole of her feet was scraped, and Toya couldn’t help but shrink.

Reyes, dragging her ankle, closed his hand and grabbed the back of her ankle to keep her from shrinking back.

He looked up at her.

Her eyes were still red.

“Don’t move.”

Reyes didn’t stand. This slightly lower posture than Toya’s made her relax a lot.

He pointed at Toya’s retracted foot. “There’s a wound that needs to be cleaned.”

The wound was small, and it wasn’t bleeding. It was just scratched a little. Toya couldn’t see it, but she did feel pain.

Her wandering gaze returned to him as she frowned and moved her toes.
