When Toya woke up, Reyes handed her the phone.

She heard Kelly’s voice come through the phone.

“Toya?”

“It’s me.” She had just woken up and her voice was still a little slurred.

Finally, Kelly felt relieved after hearing Toya’s voice.

“Are you okay?”

Toya remembered that she had planned to go to the Student Union this afternoon. She had even told Kelly about it, but she hadn’t been able to go because of Carter and had forgotten to inform her.

She must have made Kelly worry.

“I had something on in the afternoon and couldn’t go to the Student Union. I’m sorry, I should have told you in advance.”

“I’m glad you’re okay.” Kelly patted her chest and said, “You don’t know how frightened I was when I called you and heard a man answer instead!”

A man? Toya glanced at Reyes.

He opened the car door and let out his long legs.

He was dressed in black and he had a cold expression.

He did not look like a good person.

Reyes glanced at her when he closed the door.

His unintimidating glance made Toya want to laugh.

Kelly still wasn’t convinced. “Where are you now? That man didn’t force you to go to any weird place, did he?”

“No, don’t worry.” She looked around at her surroundings. It was indeed the Wilsons’ house. “I’m home.”

Since Toya said that she was home, Kelly had nothing to worry about.

“That’s good.” She nodded. Thinking of the handsome face that appeared on the screen for a few seconds, she was curious. “Who was the man who answered the phone? When I asked him, he didn’t say anything. It made me think that you had been kidnapped.”

It was indeed a difficult question to answer. Toya didn’t want anyone to know about her mother-son relationship with Reyes, but she couldn’t explain why they were staying together.

Their relationship was not enough to explain the fact that they were in the same car.

She thought about it and said ambiguously, “He’s my distant nephew. He’s usually not very good-tempered and doesn’t like to talk to people.”

Kelly understood that. “His temper is indeed quite bad!”

At this moment, the ill-tempered “nephew” opened the car door beside Toya with a pair of pink fluffy slippers in his hand.

After Toya hung up, she followed Reyes home in her slippers.

The butler greeted him at the door with a row of women beside him.

There were people of all ages. They were dressed simply and were probably here to apply for the position of a maid.

When Reyes and Toya walked in, they both looked down at their toes nervously.

The butler was full of smiles. “Miss Toya is back. Do you want to choose?”

The Wilson family had not hired a maid in many years. The butler was actually not confident to pick one himself.

Anyway, these maids were hired to serve Toya, so it would save him a lot of trouble for her to pick them out.

Toya stopped in front of them, and Reyes followed suit.

“Raise your heads for me to see.”

The women looked up obediently, but they were dazzled by the handsome man and beautiful woman in front of them.

They were a group of women after all, and Reyes was the one they paid the most attention to.

Toya noticed their gazes and was a little unhappy. She said coldly, “I don’t want any of them.”

The women panicked when they heard that. They didn’t dare to look at Reyes and looked at the butler for help.

The butler was about to say something when Reyes interrupted him. “Didn’t anyone catch your eye?”

Toya glanced at them and looked up like a queen. “I don’t like them.”

She left in her slippers.

Reyes asked the butler, “Are there any other applicants today?”

The butler said awkwardly, “No, I told them to come as soon as possible because we have to train them after we’ve decided on a candidate.”

Reyes thought about the bruise on Toya’s back and thought they had to have a maid.

“Keep them all first. Let’s train them together and pick one out tonight.”

The butler left with the maids.

It was still early. At this time yesterday, Reyes was still drunk in bed.

It was a long time before dinner. Reyes thought about how sleepy Toya had been in the car and thought she would go back and rest, like take a nap or something.

But she didn’t. She’d changed out of her dress and put on comfortable pants and a short-sleeved shirt. She was sitting on the couch in the living room and watching TV.

Reyes sat down as well.

He looked at the rats and cats chasing each other on the screen and raised his eyebrows.

“You like watching cartoons?”

Toya changed her expression to one of denial. “I don’t like to.”

Reyes said, “But I like to.”

Toja glanced at him, but she didn’t taunt him. She changed it back without batting an eyelid.

The two of them sat on the sofa and watched television quietly.

The butler set fruit on the table. Reyes asked him, “Is Butler coming back today?”

“Mr. Butler didn’t instruct me to cook for him. He’s probably not coming back.”

It was an expected answer.

Reyes said nothing more. Toya had no reaction from the beginning.

When it was time for dinner, a maid stood behind Toya.

She looked like she was in her twenties and could be considered young among the people they saw in the afternoon..
