Chapter 1103: Chapter 1103: Smoke Bomb_1
“I disagree!” Christopher Simonson immediately voiced his opposition upon receiving Alexander Summers’s call.
“What sort of precedent does it set to bring guards to class?!” Christopher Simonson said sternly. “It’s too ostentatious. What would the other students think? Absolutely not!”
Alexander said, “Purple is pregnant.”
Christopher Simonson: “…”
“This should be the first grandchild for the Simonson Family, right?” Alexander spoke calmly. “She’s not yet three months pregnant. The doctor said this is the most dangerous time, and Purple has not been sleeping well lately. If anything were to go wrong…”
Christopher Simonson: “…………”
…
When Purple Summers went to school on Monday, she was accompanied by six guards.
They wore crisp uniforms, with guns at their waists, diligently standing guard outside the classroom.
Classmates, unable to resist their curiosity, asked Purple, “What happened?”
Purple smiled somewhat embarrassingly, “Hmm, recently some reporters… have been following me quite closely, so my family worried about me and assigned me guards.”
Everyone understood and no longer inquired further.
Although her classmates all showed understanding, having a group of guards in tow was indeed quite ostentatious and Purple was not accustomed to it.
Luckily, there was only one month left until the summer break, so the ostentation would not last too long.
Another couple of days passed without incident.
Just like the last time she received the Black Rose, she was initially shocked by the flowers, but then nothing happened.
“Is it a smoke bomb?” Purple pondered. “Perhaps they deliberately intended to keep me uneasy…”
They posed as if they were ready to strike, but never actually made a move, probably aiming to torment her psychologically.
On the way home, Purple kept pondering the opponent’s motives. She arrived at her doorstep before she knew it, only to notice several more cars parked nearby and the presence of the president’s security detail.
She got out of the car and saw Christopher Simonson and Caitlin Carter walking out of the house, one after the other; they must have heard the car engine and came out specially to greet her.
“How are you feeling?” Caitlin Carter asked, supporting Purple’s arm with a tender gaze on her belly. “You can’t tell at all.”
Purple laughed, “It’s just been over two months, and this dress is rather loose.”
Christopher Simonson asked her, “Which hospital did you go to? The First Maternal and Child Hospital in the city is the best. I’ll have someone go there to set up a file for you.”
His face was full of smiles, seemingly afraid that too much enthusiasm might make his daughter uncomfortable. He was trying so hard to contain it that his smile looked particularly stiff.
Purple replied with a smile, “I went to the First Maternal and Child Hospital before.”
Christopher Simonson nodded in satisfaction, glancing back at Alexander who stood behind him, “Reliable enough…”
Alexander just slightly twitched the corner of his mouth.
The group moved inside to talk. Purple and Alexander sat on one side of the sofa, while Christopher Simonson and Caitlin were on the other side.
The living room was filled with many gifts, which servants were meticulously inventorying one by one.
“The old lady couldn’t be happier, she was almost ready to send over all the bird’s nest stock from home,” Caitlin said with a smile. “And all those wild goods, free-range eggs, walnuts, they were all specially collected from the estate. We know you lack nothing, but these are all gestures of the elder’s affection, so we sent them all over.”
“Is the old lady feeling better? I’ll visit her when I get the chance,” Purple offered, following the customs of reciprocity.
Christopher Simonson waved his hand, “No need, you should rest first. The first three months are full of taboos, don’t move around too much.”
“Yes,” Caitlin echoed. “The old lady perked up a lot when she heard of your pregnancy. You can visit after three months, there’s no rush.”
So Purple didn’t insist on going.
After chatting for a while, she felt tired and lazily yawned.
Christopher Simonson immediately became anxious, “Is it too much coursework?”
“Since Purple got pregnant, she has been like this, easily sleepy,” Alexander said. “She usually sleeps for more than an hour after coming back.”
Christopher Simonson and Caitlin Carter then did not stay long. They rose to leave, continuously saying, “Go rest, we won’t see you out!”
Alexander thought to himself: Wasn’t planning on it, anyway…
He escorted them to the door and returned to the living room to find that Purple had already fallen asleep against a cushion…
