Early the next morning, Ye Leng’an saw Huangfu Ruiling waiting for her outside the door as soon as she got out of bed.

“Sounds good.” Huangfu Ruiling never opposed her ideas. But he added, “We’ll have to wait until this afternoon though. I have a meeting.”

“With whom?” Ye Leng’an was curious. She smirked. “Some beautiful woman you don’t want me to know about?”

“Come on!” Huangfu Ruiling lightly tapped her forehead, laughing. “I’m meeting Nangong Xuyao.”

Ye Leng’an’s eyes widened. “You’re meeting Nangong Xuyao?”

No wonder she was surprised. Before, she had just bumped into Nangong Xuyao, and Huangfu Ruiling got jealous. Now, Huangfu Ruiling had arranged to meet him. That seemed pretty odd. Was this his way of asserting dominance over Nangong Xuyao?

Seeing Ye Leng’an’s puzzled look, Huangfu Ruiling laughed. He playfully tapped her forehead. “What are you thinking?”

“Nothing.” Ye Leng’an blinked innocently. Then, she switched to a confident tone. “I’m just curious why you’re meeting Nangong Xuyao. You didn’t seem too happy about him before.”

That was a rather subtle way of putting it. Every time Nangong Xuyao came up, Huangfu Ruiling got jealous.

Huangfu Ruiling’s eyes gleamed with intent. “Just want to talk about the Zhongyu family with him. He has some skills. I reckon he could take on Master Zhongyu. Plus, he’s Zhongyu Jiarui’s fiancé, practically family, isn’t he?”

“You want to back Nangong Xuyao.” Ye Leng’an understood his intentions. “Because of what happened before?”

“Master Zhongyu has too much time on his hands, so he’s plotting against us with Ye Yikun.” Huangfu Ruiling’s eyes darkened. “In that case, why not keep him busy with something else?”

With the Zhongyu family in turmoil, there wouldn’t be time for all these petty schemes.

And there was another thing he didn’t say. Once Nangong Xuyao took action, he’d be locked in with Zhongyu Jiarui for good. If Nangong Xuyao gained power, he’d only be Zhongyu Jiarui’s husband, no matter what. Otherwise, Nangong Xuyao would lose everything he’d gained.

Of course, Huangfu Ruiling had full trust in Ye Leng’an. He knew Ye Leng’an didn’t have any romantic feelings for Nangong Xuyao. In fact, to her, Nangong Xuyao was almost like a stranger.

And if Nangong Xuyao was okay with settling for less, he wouldn’t have passed that note to Ye Leng’an. Ye Leng’an nodded and grinned. “No matter what, the Zhongyu family is going to pay a hefty price. That’s sufficient.”

She wondered where Master Zhongyu got the audacity to plot against them like this.

“What about Master Murong?” Ye Leng’an suddenly remembered another player. “What’s the move there?”

They settled on the matter with ease, skipping any consultation with the involved parties.
