Chapter 22: Banquet

Because Lu Sheng had moved to a new house in Ji Wu village, the village chief specially treated everyone to a feast.

Lu Qiang, on the other hand, returned home with a heavy heart.

When Cui Hong saw that Lu Qiang had returned, she asked Zheng Shu to cook for him.

Zheng Shu returned home dejectedly and could not help but spit.

Because he was happy, the village chief drank a few more glasses, and he was tipsy. “Lu Sheng…”

“Burp…” the village chief said and burped. “From now on, this village will depend on you!”

“Don’t worry, village chief, I will work hard!” Lu Sheng promised the village chief solemnly.

The village chief looked at Lu Sheng with his hazy eyes. “I know, I know! You…”

The village chief gave another burp.

Just as the village chief was about to continue, the village chief’s wife grabbed the village chief’s ear and lifted him up.

“Ouch! Ouch! Don’t pull! It hurts!” The village chief cried out for mercy.

The village chief’s wife looked at Lu Sheng and his wife and smiled. “I’m sorry! This guy won’t stop talking after drinking!”

“I’ll take him back first! You guys have a good rest!” The village chief’s wife said as she grabbed the village chief’s ear and dragged him out of the Lu family’s courtyard.

Seeing the village chief’s crooked body and pitiful look, Lu Sheng and Zhang Yue looked at each other and smiled.

The two of them looked at the at least ten tables of things in and out of the courtyard and sighed.

Lu Sheng held Zhang Yue’s hand and said, “We’ll clean it up tomorrow!”

Zhang Yue nodded and followed Lu Sheng into the house.

The Lu family now had four rooms and a small courtyard.

The children did not have to squeeze together with them anymore.

Lu Yi and the others finished eating first, then went back to their rooms to enjoy their big bed eagerly.

Lu Sheng walked to the door of the Lu brothers’ room and gently knocked on the door.

Then he heard Lu Yi’s voice from the room, “Coming!”

The sound of running could be heard. Lu Yi ran to open the door, “Dad! Mom!”

Lu Sheng and Zhang Yue walked into the room and saw Lu Er and Lu San sleeping together.

These days, the children were really tired.

The couple walked to Lu Yi’s bed and pulled his hand to sit down. “How is it? Do you like the room?”

Lu Yi looked around the room and smiled. “I like it! I have my own bed now!”

Lu Yi’s words were simple enough to describe his simple needs.

Zhang Yue and Lu Sheng looked at each other, feeling guilty for their children.

This room was Lu Yi and Lu Er’s room. There were two beds and two wardrobes in the room. A large table was used as the two brothers’ study table, and two benches were placed on both sides.

“Are you happy that you’re going to school in town?” Lu Sheng reached out and stroked Lu Yi’s hair.

Lu Yi nodded heavily. “Yes!”

Zhang Yue covered Lu Er with a blanket and carried Lu San out of the room.

Lu San was still young, so the couple decided to bring her to their own room to take care of her.

Husband and wife returned to the room, placing the still asleep Lu San onto the bed.
