Chapter 2906: Polymers

As the ship gave a slight tremor, the wings on both sides unfolded, gradually shifting their form mid-air.

A defensive line?

In fact, the entire ship was a special form of defensive line.

Federation players gradually abandoned their external defensive line and retreated, choosing instead to fight around the ship.

Mission description: You have detected the rapidly approaching aura of the Seed of Ouroboros. Attempt to defeat and absorb it.

Mission requirement: Kill the Seed of Ouroboros polymers.

Mission reward: None.

Fang Heng stared into the distance.

It was coming!

Whoosh! Whoosh whoosh!!!

In the surging tide of insects and water, several hill-like creeps suddenly emerged from the distant ground and were rapidly moving toward the front line.

Seed of Ouroboros polymers!

Fang Heng stared intensely at the three rapidly approaching mounds.

These composite lifeforms were abnormally massive, their bodies thickly coated in sticky layers of creep, appearing like hills wrapped in the stuff.

As they stormed the front lines, creep spilled from their bodies and began spreading outward rapidly.

Federation troops, realizing what the mounds were, visibly changed expression.

“Aim!”

Numerous star-class ship turrets locked onto the targets.

“Fire!”

As soon as the mounds entered range, thousands of dense light beams fired in succession.

Dozens of them were focused energy beams.

“Bang! Bang bang bang!!!”

The attacks struck the mounds, causing large swathes of creep to fall away.

Effective!

Fang Heng saw with his own eyes that one of the mounds lost nearly a tenth of its HP under the concentrated fire.

The creature hidden beneath the mound, the Seed of Ouroboros, retreated after being hit. As more creep fell from its body, it deliberately pulled back, avoiding the main firepower of the ships.

At the same time, large swaths of creep worms surged forward from the rear, forcibly using their fleshly bodies to block the attacks of the energy light beam cannons for the Seed of Ouroboros polymers.

Fang Heng’s mind stirred.

The Seed of Ouroboros polymers had the ability to control the swarm?

Meanwhile, the creature continued to expand and contract, slowly regenerating the HP it had lost. It also released more gray-brown creep from within its body.

The creep kept spreading outward, quickly advancing toward the player forces.

Not good!

Inside the ship, Gorn frowned deeply.

A round of probing attacks had failed to deal significant damage to the polymers.

Worse still, the spreading creep gave him a strong sense of unease.

Outside the ship, Federation soldiers saw the polymers retreat behind the swarm. Unable to push through to attack directly, they could only hold their lines and stall.

But mere moments into the standoff, the creep had already spread beneath the players’ feet.

“D*mn! Watch out for the creep–it’s toxic!”

Creep was normally just disgusting and sticky, slowing movement, but not harmful.

This time was different.

As soon as their boots touched the creep, the Federation tactical suits auto-activated their shields, and a pulling force was felt from below.

“Chi, chi chi…”

Tiny spikes suddenly pierced up from the surface of the creep.

“Fall back!”

The soldiers turned pale and quickly withdrew, using focused flamethrowers to scorch the advancing creep, slowing its spread.

Just as suspected–

The creep released from the polymers was unlike normal creep.

The situation was deteriorating!

Inside the command room, Vice Captain Gorn looked grim.

While it looked like a stalemate, the Federation was already falling into a passive position.

As the creep continued to spread, they were slowly being pushed back.

But their retreat space was very limited.

In the short term, it wasn’t an issue–but at this rate, in three hours, they’d be backed up to the Prism Tower zone.

There would be nowhere left to retreat.

“Captain Gorn.”

Hearing a voice behind him, Gorn turned and was surprised to see Fang Heng being escorted in by two soldiers.

“Fang Heng? What are you doing here? Weren’t you defending the Prism Tower?”

“I was transported over with the ship. As for the prism zone, the outer perimeter’s already been cleared, and Jayne’s squads are guarding it–it’s stable for now.”

Fang Heng stepped forward and pointed to the big screen showing the Seed of Ouroboros polymers. He nodded and said, “I’ll be brief. I want to discuss how we can work together to take down those commander-level mutant worms.”

Gorn’s eyelids twitched as he looked at Fang Heng, surprised. He questioned, “You’re saying you have a way?”

“It’s worth a try.”

He actually had a way?

That was the Seed of Ouroboros!

Even the entire ship couldn’t stop it–what could he do?

Gorn thought Fang Heng didn’t fully understand how terrifying the Seeds of Ouroboros were.

“Captain Gorn,” Fang Heng said seriously, “We don’t have much time.”

Gorn nodded, “Alright. What do you need me to do?”

Meanwhile, on the port deck of the ship–

Gisele had recently retreated with his team to the starboard side, using the ship’s energy shield as cover while firing.

He was watching the creep-covered mounds behind the swarm through a tactical scope.

Three in total.

All appeared to be high-tier Seed of Ouroboros polymers.

This was bad.

Even one of them would be a serious threat to the entire team.

They could still stall for time now, but–

They had to find a way to end this fast!

Captain Gisele was deep in thought when he sensed someone approaching from behind. He lowered his scope and turned to look.
