Chapter 2920 Staff Sergeant
[Hint: The player submitted a spirit gemstone and gained contribution points from the spawns.]
[Hint: The player’s current honor level: Staff Sergeant (F). Team: Galaxy 271 – Humanity. Team’s current honor rating: Inferior Alliance (S).]
As batch after batch of spirit gemstones were transported into the ship, Fang Heng’s personal honor points and contribution points skyrocketed.
It turned out that with proper logistics, farming merit wasn’t any slower than fighting on the frontlines.
As soon as the mainframe was repaired, Fang Heng immediately exchanged it for transport robots to help with the deliveries and also got a large number of combat shovels to assist with mining.
Besides spirit crystal mines, the world also had a large amount of energy ore scattered throughout, which could be converted into energy reserves for his main body’s talent skills.
Seeing how reliable Fang Heng was, Zoran quickly changed plans as well. He went all in on repairing the ship, directly using a large number of contribution points in exchange for maintenance androids to assist with the repairs.
Main ship.
Zoran and Pang Li were discussing the follow-up repair plans for the ship. Through the ship’s window, they saw crate after crate of high-tier spirit ore being pushed into the ship by transport robots, then transferred by Fang Heng into the spawns’ mainframe. For a moment, they both went silent.
Originally, Star River’s mission in this world was to gather spirit crystals, earn contribution points, and figure out a way to obtain the Seed of Ouroboros
But now…
It seemed like Fang Heng was the one mining in this world.
And not through the Federation system–they were being submitted directly to the spawns.
There was an odd sense that they were the ones working for Fang Heng.
At the spawns’ mainframe exchange terminal, after redeeming a batch of materials, Fang Heng walked over to Captain Zoran and Pang Li.
“Captain, how’s the ship looking? Is there anything you need me to help with?”
Uh…
The senior crew fell silent for a moment.
“Fang Heng, how should I put this… you’ve surprised me again.”
Zoran admitted his respect and sighed, “We just ran a scan on the ship’s main body and cleared out the remaining creep worms. The ship’s in pretty bad shape. I’ll let Engineer Pang Li explain the specifics.”
Pang Li said, “We’ve already completed the spawns’ mainframe system migration and are now repairing the ship’s main body. For some irreparable parts and the maintenance androids, we’ll have them delivered immediately through the Spawns’ transition system.”
Fang Heng asked, “How long is the repair expected to take?”
Pang Li and Zoran exchanged a glance, “Doing our best, the estimate is at least three days.”
Three days?
Too slow.
Seeing Fang Heng’s expression, the two of them felt a bit helpless.
Three days!
And that’s still slow?
That was already under ideal conditions, with the Federation sparing no cost or rest.
Fang Heng asked, “Any way to speed it up?”
“We’d need more maintenance androids. Also, if we can get more contribution points, some of the large ship components could be replaced entirely.”
Pang Li thought for a bit and looked at Fang Heng, “If you just need to get to the mission target quickly, we could do a partial repair. But in that case, the ship would only be able to sustain one short-distance transition. It would cause some wear and reduce the ship’s durability…”
“In the ideal case, how fast can we get there? And how many contribution points is the Federation short?”
Pang Li quickly calculated and nodded, “Fifteen million should be enough. Right now, we can barely scrape together five million.”
Fang Heng glanced at his contribution points.
So he’d have to cover the rest himself, huh?
All for the Seed of Ouroboros!
He had to go all in!
This whole mess was caused by the Inspection Department anyway–they could pay the bill later.
“I’ll cover the remaining ten million contribution points, but I want the ship ready to jump as soon as possible. We’re heading straight to Captain Gisele’s system for reinforcement.”
He looked at Zoran and asked, “Captain Zoran, what do you think?”
Neither Zoran nor the other high-level crew had expected Fang Heng to go this hard, dropping a full ten million contribution points without hesitation.
Insanely bold. Insanely rich.
They looked at each other.
Captain Zoran gave the order in a steady voice, “All personnel, listen up! Begin ship repairs immediately. Spare no expense. We must complete a full transition within eight hours!”
“Yes, sir!”
Somehow, hearing the order fired up the entire ship crew with passion.
Eight hours.
To fully repair a warship.
It almost sounded like fantasy.
But maybe, just maybe–they were about to create a miracle.
Large amounts of spirit crystal gemstones were being transported into the ship, converted into contribution points, and then spent on various replacement parts. Naturally, there was chaos everywhere in the process.
Fang Heng felt a bit worried.
Wouldn’t it be a terrible stroke of luck if they managed to complete the transition in eight hours, only to find the battle already over?
Just then, he noticed Su Guantong walking over and quietly saying, “Fang Heng, I just went to check offline. Captain Gisele’s main battlefield has already been locked by the prism long-range positioning system. The battle is still ongoing and doesn’t look like it’ll end soon–we still have time.”
…
Captain Gisele’s main battlefield.
The swarm was running rampant.
The ship hovered mid-air, firing a dense barrage of energy beams. One insect nest after another was destroyed under the barrage.
Even so, more mutants–including commander-level ones–kept emerging from deep within the nests.
The ship was temporarily stalled and couldn’t advance.
Captain Gisele stood in the main control room, looking ahead with a tense expression.
If only Fang Heng were here.
His summoned creatures were perfect for this kind of siege warfare. They could’ve taken a huge load off the defensive line.
As he was thinking, another dense wave of the swarm surged from deep within the nests.
“Report! The crystal core cannon is on spatial cooldown. Next barrage will be ready in ten minutes.”
“Hold them back!”
After deploying the chained defensive formation, beams of energy rained down from the sky, devastating a large section of the swarm, including the central region and an SS-class nest.
But it wasn’t enough to kill them all!
The blast heavily injured the swarm, but after a short lull, the enraged insects surged forward once more.
Captain Gisele turned to the side. “How’s Charlene?”
Fana shook her head and replied, “Her mental strength is overloaded. She’s fallen unconscious and can’t continue fighting.”
Gisele frowned deeply.
The original plan was to have Charlene restrict the swarm’s movement, allowing the military to use the spawns’ high-tier ritual-grade cosmic energy beams to destroy the nests completely.
But something had gone wrong.
