Chapter 10.1 – Wolf Tooth Pendant

Lu Tinghan took Shi Yuan and entered a store in a familiar manner.

The shop sign read “Wheatfield Noodle House”, and the decoration was simple. The boss smiled when he saw Lu Tinghan: “It’s the usual private room on the second floor.”

An old acquaintance.

The two of them stepped on the creaky stairs, went up to the second floor, and went to the room at the end of the corridor. Once the door was closed, no movement could be heard, Lu Tinghan took off his mask and pushed the menu in front of Shi Yuan: “What would you like to order?”

Shi Yuan looked at it for a long time and said, “I want to order this Devil’s Chili Noodles.”

He has always been curious about the taste of the legendary “chili” and why humans like it.

Lu Tinghan asked, “Can you eat spicy food?”

“I want to try it.” Shi Yuan said, “I think I can eat it.”

Lu Tinghan ordered, and it didn’t take long before two bowls of noodles came up, one bowl of red oil and one bowl of broth, the boss added a lot of meat to it.

Lu Tinghan took the chopsticks and looked at Shi Yuan in no hurry.

Shi Yuan: “What’s wrong?”

Lu Tinghan: “You eat.” He pushed a glass of ice water to Shi Yuan’s hand.

Shi Yuan took a chopstick of noodles, blew it, and stuffed it into his mouth.

Shi Yuan stopped.

Shi Yuan’s eyes widened.

Shi Yuan’s tail scales exploded.

“Cough! Cough! Cough!” He coughed violently, the terrifying spiciness burned his throat and went straight to his head!

He hurriedly drank water and poured a glass of ice water into his mouth. It took him a long time to calm down. When he looked up, Lu Tinghan was still looking at him, and there seemed to be a flash of smile in his eyes, as if he had expected it.

Lu Tinghan asked, “Can you still eat spicy food now?”

Shi Yuan: “I can’t…” His tail scales were still blown up, unable to calm down.

Shi Yuan honestly stopped eating spicy food.

He asked Lu Tinghan, “Do you e here often?”

“I will e when I have time,” Lu Tinghan replied.

Shi Yuan asked again, “Do you really not feel spicy?”

“It’s okay.”

“Oh,” Shi Yuan said. “You’re really amazing.” He held up his cup and drank water with lingering fears.

When Shi Yuan was about to finish eating, Lu Tinghan said, “Shi Yuan, who gave you your wolf tooth pendant?”

He didn’t look up, as if he was just mentioning a trivial matter.

Shi Yuan lowered his head, the small pendant was originally hidden under his clothes, but it was shaken out.

Now it lay on his chest, shining silvery-white.

This was given to him by Xie Qianming.

At that time, they found an abandoned garrison and nestled in a safe corner. The heating in the car broke down, and Xie Qianming made a fire. The purple light bug that parasitized him felt the heat source and began to stir, causing him to break out in a cold sweat.

“Shi Yuan, go to sleep,” Xie Qianming said. “I can’t sleep anyway.”

Shi Yuan slept until the latter part of the night and woke up with a starry sky, then Xie Qianming gave him this wolf tooth pendant. He said he wouldn’t live much longer and wanted Shi Yuan to take it with him and go to the city.

Shi Yuan told Lu Tinghan: “It was given to me by someone who was with me before.”

Shi Yuan was surprised, he didn’t know that Xie Qianming was a soldier and also had such a relationship with Lu Tinghan.

This reminded Shi Yuan, who said, “Is there a ‘Wild Rose Theatre’ in the city? I want to work there.”

“Why do you want to go there?” Lu Tinghan asked.

“Xie Qianming asked me to go. He said that he likes watching stage plays very much and he spent a lot of money for the Wild Rose Theatre Company. The troupe is short of people, so he asked me to go see it if I’m interested, and maybe I can perform,” Shi Yuan replied. “I promised him.”

“I see,” Lu Tinghan said lightly. “Then go and try, the theater is just to the south.”

After settling the bill, the two continued to walk along the long street until they left the pedestrian area. A black car was silently waiting by the side of the road, and the driver opened the door for them.

Shi Yuan got into the car, watched the lights fade away, and returned to Lu Tinghan’s house.
