Chapter 783: Chapter 490: Do You Want to Become a God?
Lis’s gaze did not linger on the elf village overhead for long, soon shifting in the direction he was heading.
He could feel that as he delved deeper into the dense forest ahead, the aura of divine power in the air grew increasingly potent.
Around him, the shadows of the elf villages were no longer seen, while occasionally animals’ figures would emerge amongst the trees–squirrels, deer, wild boars, and even leopards.
However, they showed no hostility towards Lis and Daphne, merely casting curious glances at the pair.
The two walked on a narrow path through the forest, with green stones laid on the ground. Over countless years, the stone slabs had lost all their sharpness and become smooth and rounded.
A tranquil atmosphere permeated the forest. Despite his curiosity about their destination, Lis did not broach the subject with Daphne.
Strolling on the forest path was quite pleasant; the rich breath of life emanating from within the woods made Lis feel much more at ease.
Before long, the dense forest opened up before Lis, giving him a sense of sudden clarity.
In the heart of this dense forest stood a breathtakingly gray stone palace.
The walls of the palace were made of enormous gray stones still bearing the rough traces of chiseling, as if narrating their ancient history and the passage of time. These stones were not simply piled together, but were meticulously carved and fitted to form a rugged yet unique aesthetic.
On the walls of the palace, within the bold patterns, one could barely make out the intricate designs characteristic of the elves, their lines intertwined to form mysterious and ancient patterns.
When sunlight pierced through the treetops and fell upon this gray stone palace, the entire structure radiated a faint white brilliance. This glow was not dazzling, but rather bestowed a warm and holy presence, a subtle and lofty feeling akin to that of a deity.
The surrounding forest added an extra measure of majesty and solemnity to this mysterious palace.
Giant trees encircled the palace from a distance, their trunks tall and sturdy, and their foliage lush, as if they served as guardians of the palace.
The giant trees at the edge of the forest sea leaned slightly, with their branches and leaves swaying gently, as if bowing respectfully towards the palace, paying homage to the enigmatic structure.
Lis looked at the holy palace before him, surrounded by a sacred aura that involuntarily inspired awe in anyone nearby.
This place felt far more sacred and solemn than any Divine Temple he had seen before,
including the Elf Holy Hall in Jade City and the Dawn Cathedral in Bright City.
“This is it,” Daphne said softly, and then headed towards the gray stone palace.
Lis’s steps hesitated slightly before he followed behind Daphne.
The closer he got to the palace, the more Lis felt as if he were facing the mighty power of the gods themselves, looking up to the deities seated high above, realizing his own insignificance ever more acutely.
Could this palace have been built by the elves countless years ago as a place of worship for the Elf Gods?
Lis pondered silently; if so, the timespan of the palace’s existence could well be measured in tens of thousands of years.
It was evident that this was likely the most critical core area of Elf Country Tirion.
Although Elf Country Tirion was part of the Elf Kingdom, it felt more like an independent domain directly under the Elf Gods.
The Moon Elves living here worshiped the Elf Gods, maintaining and guiding the faith passed down from them.
For the Elf Gods, the importance of Elf Country could not be underestimated, comparable even to the Elf Kingdom.
Why had he been brought here?
It piqued Lis’s curiosity; even with trust placed in him, was it appropriate to bring him to such a vital place on his first visit to Elf Country?
Was it because of the Elf Great Sage?
A thought crossed Lis’s mind regarding Adela Great Sage, who had shown him kindness from their first meeting and offered considerable assistance during the formation of Nature’s Wrath.
This had far exceeded the extent of mere goodwill.
And her only request was for him to visit Elf Country…
It seemed he would soon find out why.
Lis took another look at the holy palace in front of him and followed Daphne inside.
…
It wasn’t until Lis reached the front of the palace that he realized he had been mistaken about something.
Perhaps it had been the distance before, or perhaps it was the scale of the surrounding giant trees, but not until Lis stood upon the steps of the palace did he realize that the structure was far more immense than he had assumed!
It was, in fact, like a palace for giants, standing in front of the more than twenty-meter-tall closed doors of the palace, Lis truly felt his own smallness.
Ka-ka-ka~
In front of Daphne and Lis, the massive stone doors slowly opened inward, their deep and muted sound heralding a welcome.
“Lis, go ahead inside,”
“Adela Sage is waiting for you in there,” Daphne said with solemn respect as she turned back, her demeanor regal once more.
However, her lively eyes were alight with the cheerful heart of a young girl, and she whispered softly:
“When you’re done, come find me! There are many interesting places in Elf Country, I’ll take you to see them!”
“Alright,”
Lis nodded to Daphne with a smile and proceeded with confident strides into the palace.
