Chapter 2495: Chapter 2496: The Crisis of Caie Mitsui
After explaining the important matters, Lin Yi hung up the phone.
Kenji Nakada also pulled the car over to the side.
At this moment, it was no longer appropriate to continue driving.
“Who was the caller?”
“His name is Sanjing Pingzhi, the young lady’s cousin.”
“Is his character trustworthy?”
“Don’t worry, Mr. Lin Yi. Sanjing Pingzhi is a very good person. He’s loyal to the young lady and would never betray the Mitsui Group.”
Lin Yi nodded. “Let’s head back first.”
“Back?” Kenji Nakada looked troubled. “But…”
“There’s no ‘but.’ This matter is a conspiracy, far more serious than you imagine.”
Lin Yi’s expression darkened; he had a premonition about the potential impact of this incident.
Before leaving, he had reminded Caie Mitsui to stay vigilant, though he hadn’t truly believed they would have the audacity to act.
After all, the Mitsui Group was a colossus in Japan, too big to topple.
If they dared to target Caie Mitsui, the repercussions would be far greater than anyone anticipated.
But unexpectedly, they still made their move, a possibility Lin Yi hadn’t accounted for.
In truth, if the problem had only involved internal Sunrise Landese factions, no one would dare touch Caie Mitsui.
The issue was Gerard. He’s not a Sunrise Landese national, so he’s immune to local constraints.
Under immense pressure, even the Japanese side could only compromise.
However, they still retained some resistance.
Because the people sent to detain Caie Mitsui were not from the local police department, but rather the Ministry of Commerce.
Such incidents weren’t uncommon; almost every major entrepreneur had undergone the “invitation for tea” experience.
Even Lin Yi himself hadn’t been spared in the past.
However, the true nature of this case was far from ordinary.
Caie Mitsui had essentially been seized, and how she’d be treated remained uncertain.
“Hurry back. If anything happens to her, I’ll never sleep peacefully for the rest of my life,” Lin Yi said.
“Understood!”
Kenji Nakada didn’t waste additional words. At this point, dwelling on alternatives was no longer an option.
“What’s the situation with the Yamaguchi-gumi?”
“Thanks to your guidance, Mr. Lin Yi, we’ve managed to take control of the Yamaguchi-gumi entirely,” Kenji Nakada replied.
“And many smaller factions have also allied with us, significantly increasing our influence.”
“Notify the Yamaguchi-gumi members: everyone is to stay on high alert. Equip them all with weapons. This could turn into a tough battle.”
Kenji Nakada was stunned; he hadn’t anticipated the situation would escalate to this degree.
“Listen to me. Do it now. Don’t waste time,” Lin Yi ordered firmly.
“Understood.”
Kenji Nakada started driving while simultaneously carrying out Lin Yi’s instructions.
About an hour later, Lin Yi received a message from Sanjing Pingzhi on his phone.
The location he was hiding in was a rural inn.
With Kenji Nakada involved, pinpointing the inn was not a difficult task.
Being cautious, Sanjing Pingzhi turned his phone off after reporting his position, becoming unreachable to anyone.
Four hours passed before Kenji Nakada drove to the outskirts of Capital City, heading straight for the address Sanjing Pingzhi had provided.
Kangaroo Hotel stood on the edge of Capital City.
While it lacked the opulence of five-star hotels, its design was remarkable.
Being situated in a rural area, its scenery was far superior to that of downtown.
The rustling of leaves and the babble of a nearby stream gave the lodge an atmosphere of harmony with nature.
Outside the lodge, a Toyota Alphard sat parked, carrying six passengers.
Among them, two stood out.
One wore a suit, had short hair, was of average height, and carried himself like a politician.
His name was Nakajima Dahe, the leader of the group.
Beside him sat a blonde, blue-eyed foreigner.
Dressed in camouflage and tactical boots, his stern expression was paired with a skull emblem on his chest.
His name was Delong, a member of the Skull Squad.
As for the remaining four, all were Sunrise Landese nationals.
Their identities were far from ordinary; they were members of the Night Ghost Organization.
Nakajima Dahe glanced at the window. “The target should be inside; let’s proceed now.”
“Understood!”
Following Nakajima Dahe’s orders, all six exited the vehicle, ready to apprehend Sanjing Pingzhi.
Before moving on Caie Mitsui, they had made meticulous preparations.
Everyone in the loop knew that the Mitsui Group held the lifeblood of Japanese industry.
If this intel were leaked, the consequences would be irreversible.
They also knew Sanjing Pingzhi was the second-in-command of the Mitsui Group.
With Caie Mitsui seized, intercepting him would ensure the information wouldn’t escape.
So to play it safe, their plan to capture Sanjing Pingzhi had already been set in motion once Caie Mitsui was detained.
What they hadn’t expected was Sanjing Pingzhi disappearing right after they reached the Mitsui Group offices.
This raised alarms, prompting immediate efforts to trace his whereabouts.
Through extensive investigations, they discovered he had fled to this inn.
This confirmed their suspicion that Sanjing Pingzhi had caught wind of the situation and made his escape preemptively.
One by one, the six men entered the lodge.
Guests drinking tea and wine in the lobby turned to look at them, sensing their unusual demeanor–clearly not tourists out for leisure.
“Excuse me, sir, do you have a reservation?” asked the female bartender at the counter.
Nakajima Dahe pulled out a photo of Sanjing Pingzhi.
“We’re looking for this person. Has he visited your establishment?”
The bartender examined the photograph.
“He arrived several hours ago. He’s in Room 304.”
Without another word, Nakajima Dahe headed upstairs with his team.
Sanjing Pingzhi was, after all, just an ordinary person with no experience dealing with such situations.
If Lin Yi had been in his place, he wouldn’t have allowed them to detect his whereabouts.
Quickly, the six men reached the third floor.
Standing at the door to Room 304, they spotted two men in suits.
Nakajima Dahe felt reassured–Sanjing Pingzhi must be inside.
“We’re from the Ministry of Commerce. Open the door; I want to see Sanjing Pingzhi.”
The two bodyguards immediately tensed up at the sight of the aggressive group.
“Mr. Mitsui is not here. Please leave,” one said firmly.
Nakajima Dahe’s expression darkened as he retorted coldly:
“I don’t want to waste words with you. Open the door, or I’ll make you regret it.”
“As I’ve said, Mr. Mitsui isn’t here!”
“Take action!”
Without giving the guards any chance, one of Nakajima Dahe’s men lunged forward and took both down in less than two seconds, rendering them unconscious without a sound!
Thunk!
The attacker then kicked the door open, and the six of them stormed inside.
Sanjing Pingzhi stood by the bed, his face pale with terror.
“What are you planning to do?!”
