Chapter 23: Bad Guys

When she was in the water, her Arcane Powers would recover much quicker, and she wouldn’t feel tired just as easily as she would on dry land.

Therefore, while waiting for her daddy to come back, Lu Li’s bathtime took 2 hours or so.

In the beginning, the servant was afraid that her skin would start getting wrinkly from soaking in the bathtub for too long. After about 10 minutes, Lu Li was told to get out of the tub and to put on her pajamas.

While Lu Li hesitated at first, she still put on her clothes quietly.

Seeing that the child was sound asleep, the servant switched off the lights and shut the door to her room. It was then that Lu Li got up from her bed.

Because of how short her legs were, she couldn’t reach the switch. Lu Li had to resort to using her spell to turn the tap on to fill the bathtub. She finally changed into a fish and swam happily inside the bathtub.

She was overjoyed.

Since her daddy hadn’t come back, Lu Li continued swimming around for the next 2 hours.

As her body slowly absorbed the Essence of Heaven and Earth to restore her own Arcane Power, she was so bored she had no idea how many bubbles she had made.

Slowly, as time passed, her body began to slowly radiate a soft but eye-catching golden light.

Good fortune had arrived.

The servants in the yard exclaimed in surprise, “Oh my? The koi fish looked so sick that I thought they were going to die. I was just preparing to scoop up their bodies but how’d they get so lively all of a sudden?”

Next, a servant under the tree was overjoyed as he held his phone and shouted, “Huh? I’ve won! I’ve really won! I didn’t expect that I would be so lucky! This is the first time I’ve actually won a prize!”

With one-third of her Arcane Powers restored, her hearing had also become much sharper. Many noises entered Lu Li’s ears one by one.

Her pale-red little tail was like a paper-thin layer of red satin. It was beautiful and mesmerizing as she kept on blowing bubbles for fun.

Her veil-like tail floated in the water as she wagged it from time to time.

And in the next moment, her movements suddenly stopped. Her beady fisheyes opened widely.

Daddy!

She heard daddy’s voice!

He was on this floor!

And there was a bad guy next to him!

The little girl no longer wanted to stay in the bathtub. She quickly returned to her human form. She ran out immediately after putting on her little gown.

“Young Master Lu, it was just as you said. There are people that wanted to use this banquet to sneak into your study and steal the Lu Family’s secret!”

The bodyguard threw the two people that he had just caught at Lu Junhan’s feet.

The two of them struggled in an attempt to get back on their feet. However, they received powerful kicks against their backs from the bodyguard behind them, forcing them to grovel like dogs on the floor.

The humiliating pose made the two middle-aged men’s faces turn pale. They were so angry that their faces were flushed red, but they didn’t dare to say anything.

Sitting on a luxurious sofa, Lu Junhan lit a cigarette for himself as he peered down at these men. He sucked in a lungful of smoke without care as his fingers tapped on the sofa twice. Only then did he raise his eyes to give them an insincere smile.

He didn’t say anything, but yet they could feel the cold sweat pouring down their backs as they trembled in fear.

It was at this point that they finally realized something. This trap was made specifically for them!

Lu Junhan deliberately held the banquet in the Lu Family home, so that he could lure out and identify the traitors like them!

To think that they sneered at the invitation, saying how stupid he was for hosting such an event. It was now time for them to regret what they had done!

Lu Junhan didn’t say anything, and no one else in the room dared to say anything. The entire study was so silent that one could hear a pin drop. The atmosphere was tense indeed.

The two of them were so afraid that they didn’t even dare to move a muscle.

After a long while, the man on the sofa finally exhaled a cloud of smoke. Finally, he spoke. But the tone in which he spoke did little to reveal his true intent.

“Manager Chen and Vice President Liu. What rare guests we have here today.”

Both Manager Chen and Vice President Liu had seen how brutal Lu Junhan could be in the past. They felt a chill crawl up their spines. They knew that there was nothing left to say and that there was no use in talking it out, so they could only beg for mercy, “P-President Lu… I know what we did was wrong, please forgive us… I beg you! We, we were forced to do this! If we refuse, Grandfather Lu won’t show us any mercy! We, we were simply putting up a show, we wouldn’t dare to steal anything that’s yours…”
