Chapter 33: With A Father Like This

“Tsk, aren’t you being a little too protective of her!?”

“Aren’t we blood brothers who grew up together!? I just wanted to give your cute little daughter a cuddle! I swear I won’t eat her or anything!” Despite all the protests, Xu Ciye still pulled his arms back. That was because of the murderous glare he was receiving from Lu Junhan, as if he would lose his mind at any moment.

He was stupid at times, but he wasn’t that stupid.

After saying that, he paused. Raising an eyebrow and producing a mischievous smile, he jabbed at his friend playfully, “Still, this doesn’t look like something you would do, protecting a little girl and all.”

Lu Junhan’s only response was to stare at him coldly.

Xu Ciye wasn’t really affected by this, as if he had long grown familiar with Lu Junhan’s mannerisms. He then continued with a smile, “This is wonderful! For a person as cold and cruel as you to have such a cute daughter! How unfair can God be!?”

“Daddy is a good person! Uncle, don’t spread rumors like that!”

Lu Junhan hadn’t even said a thing yet, but the little girl behind him had already become irritated. She angrily stomped her little feet on the floor as she shook her small fists, which were clenched tightly in the air. Her doll-like face now showed hints of anger.

“If you say bad things about Daddy again, I-I… I will say bad things about you too! The very bad sort of rumors too!”

Although she didn’t really understand what the uncle meant when he said “cold and cruel”, she knew it was probably something bad!

Hmph, no one could scold her daddy!

Except for her and her mummy!

The girl still seemed so adorable and cuddly when she was fuming from the ears. Xu Ciye couldn’t help but put his hand on his chest, perhaps in an attempt to soothe the pain in his heart. He wanted to scream out loud, “You are so cute that you’ve taken my heart, even when you’re threatening me! Oh I know, you’re trying to take my heart aren’t you? Xu Ciye’s eyes never moved away from Lu Li throughout their entire interaction. If it wasn’t because of her extremely terrifying daddy, he would’ve already picked her up and cuddle her in his arms!

The little ball of cuteness was simply too adorable!

Lu Junhan narrowed his dark eyes and stared coldly at him like a predator. “Do you still want your eyes?” he asked.

Xu Ciye coughed and averted his gaze while sighing.

“Fine, fine, fine. I won’t look at her again, alright? It’s understandable how much you love her.”

Instinctively, Xu Ciye took out a blank dossier from his drawer and before Lu Junhan could speak, he said, “You don’t even need to tell me about it. I know why you’re here today. You’re here to get Little Lili assessed, right?”

He signed his name gracefully at the bottom of the report form. No one would dare to question his name in the field of psychology.

It was clear that he remembered what the little girl had said when she introduced herself. He wrote down Lu Li’s name correctly in the name bracket for his patients. When it came to her age, however, he paused and asked, “How old is your daughter?”

Lu Junhan frowned when he heard this question. With pursed lips, he remained silent.

Xu Ciye was stunned, “Seriously? You don’t know how old she is?”

For the past few days, Lu Junhan had been too preoccupied with work. All matters pertaining to Lu Li had been dealt with by Song Qingwan. He wasn’t there even when she was placed under his household registration. That was why he had not a clue as to how old she was.

Still, there was no sense of awkwardness on his face. He turned his head and peered down at the little girl. With a calm voice, he asked, “How old are you?”

“…”

Xu Ciye was speechless.

What a failure of a father!

What a shame! She’s such a cute little girl too!

The little girl tilted her head and thought of her age. She then outstretched her fingers and started counting. Then, with full sincerity and seriousness, she answered, “Daddy, Lili is 300 years old now!”
