Lisa thought that Gu Xi had misunderstood that her surname was “Li” in English. As such, she explained to Gu Xi, “My surname is not ‘Li’. Lisa is my English name. My surname is Meng. My Chinese name is Meng Zixin.”

In the novel, Song Kexin was not Lin Yize’s puppy love. Lin Yize was in a relationship before he met Song Kexin. And his lover was Meng Zixin.

Lin Yize and Meng Zixin grew up together and, after they had entered into adolescent, it only made sense that the two fell madly in love. Nevertheless, the Meng family business experienced difficulties and the entire family moved overseas. Meng Zixin chose her family over her relationship with Lin Yize.

Meng Zixin’s “betrayal” was something that Lin Yize was never able to get over with. She had become the white moonlight that Lin Yize both loved and hated. Lin Yize had many women after her, all of them resembled her in their own way but none of them remotely measured up to her.

Until Lin Yize met Song Kexin, the female lead of the novel.

The rest of the story was nothing but cliché – Lin Yize allowed Song Kexin to be his replacement lover and transferred his hatred toward Meng Zixin, who had betrayed him, onto Song Kexin. He insulted and abused Song Kexin in all sorts of ways but, finally, after all of the abuses, Lin Yize decided to fall in love with Song Kexin and the two moved away from their past and got together.

As the white moonlight of the male lead, Meng Zixin was mentioned again later in the novel.

Her showing up caused conflicts between the male and female leads and the two even had a big fight over it and stopped talking to each other.

Luckily, in the novel, Meng Zixin was only visiting China for work purposes and only stayed in City B for a few days before she took off again. Not too much damage was done, and Song Kexin and Lin Yize made up again after some indescribable event. And that was how the male lead’s white moonlight issue in his mind was finally resolved.

Gu Xi didn’t care about what happened between the male and female leads at all. Nevertheless, the timeline of this incident in the novel coincided with the time when Gu Yaobai submitted “evidence” that led to the Gu family being investigated and bogged down.

That arc was not supposed to happened for at least another two years. Nevertheless, Meng Zixin’s appearance made Gu Xi worried – if Lin Yize was to run into Meng Zixin right now, would that move up the timeline of the story arc? Or would it cause other butterfly effects that would affect other parts of the story?

In reality, Gu Xi wasn’t too certain how much the story arc would affect reality. After all, many events had already changed since she had located Gu Shao.

Regardless, she would still look for an opportunity to give Gu Shao, Grandpa, and the others a reminder. They needed to be aware of Gu Yaobai trying to set them up behind their backs.

Gu Xi made a mental note of that.

As for Meng Zixin, Gu Xi was more curious toward her than worried.

Afterall, Meng Zixin appeared in a total of two chapters in the novel and was just a supporting character that brought about the inevitable conflict between the male and female leads.

Besides, Meng Zixin felt like a normal person to Gu Xi.

Gu Xi was deep in thought about the storyline and did not notice that Gu Xi, even though he was chatting with Qiao Luo and the manager of the R&D department, his attention was on her.

Gu Shao had thought that Gu Xi would be interested in the demonstration of the Oceanic Transportation Monitoring System Oceanic Transportation Monitoring System, which was why he brought her with. As it turned out, Gu Shao noticed that Gu Xi had her head lowered the entire time and her mind was somewhere else.

He did, however, notice Gu Xi checking out Meng Zixin stealthily a few times.
