Chapter 249 – “Good, I’d like to meet him too.” (2)

“Were we able to find out who it was that contacted the southeast side?” sked Lin Yize.

“Yes, we were,” said the other man. Pausing, he said, “Per our investigation, the person in contact with the Southeast in launching this system was a man by the name of Qiao Luo. He didn’t have a company registered under his name. All of his assets were listed under his own name. This man had been working among the southeastern counties and his main business is agent of technology and equipment purchasing……

“Qiao Luo is currently still over in the southeast liaising with all the countries but he left a team in China to coordinate.

“In addition, we’ve found out that they are holding a banquet tonight with its main purpose being coordination of transportation of the equipment.”

Lin Yize’s eyes narrowed when he heard the report from his man.

“That’s very classy of them!” He said through gritted teeth.

“Do you know where the venue is?”

“At Gangye Building,” said his man.

Lin Yize smiled all of a sudden but his face looked stern. Loosening his tie, he said, “Good. I would like to meet them as well.”

The meeting going over the items with the Oceanic Transportation Monitoring System went very well; as such, the entire meeting lasted less than two hours.

Gu Shao was invited to a seminar later that day but, seeing that Gu Xi had already spaced out, Gu Shao finally declined the invitation and took Gu Xi home with him.

When the arrived home, Gu Shao handed a delicate box over to her when Gu Xi had already forgotten all about it.

“What is this?” Gu Xi’s eyes lit up when she saw the box.

“Reward for the competition,” said Gu Shao.

It was obvious that Gu Shao had it ready a while ago. The pretty box made one wondered what was inside of it.

Gu Xi took the box from Gu Shao and opened it up – she saw a very pretty hair clip. It was small but very delicate. It looked simply but it was eye catching.

Plus, the clip was the same color as her school uniform.

It looked like they would go very well together.

Gu Xi mumbled and took the hair clip out of the box in surprise. She looked at it over and over again.

Gu Shao looked the same as usual as he looked at Gu Xi studying the hair clip.

Anyone giving it a closer look would be able to detect the hint of nervousness in Lu Shao’s eyes.

Speaking of, this was Gu Shao’s first time buying something for his daughter.

The hair clip was custom made but Gu Shao was the one who picked out the color and design.

Gu Shao never looked into what girls Gu Xi’s age liked and what was suitable for them. As such, Gu Shao had no idea whether she would like that or not.

Nevertheless, Gu Xi did not notice Gu Shao’s nervousness. She looked at the hair clip thoroughly before she carefully placed it back inside the box. Then, with the box in her hand, she broke into a smile and said to Gu Shao, “Thanks, Dad!”

Looking at the smile on Gu Xi, Gu Shao’s look mellowed out some more.

Except that……

Why did he get the feeling that her level of excitement over the gift was very different than when she received money?

Thought Gu Shao to himself.

He was certain that Gu Xi would jump up in joy had she received the same amount of cash as the cost of the hair clip.

“Do you not like it?” asked Gu Shao.

Gu Xi quickly shook her head when she heard that. “No, I love it!”

But cash would be better……

Added Gu Xi in her mind.

She, however, did not say that out loud to Gu Shao.

Then, looking at Gu Shao, Gu Xi suddenly gave him an awkward smile and she said to him, “Em, Dad, do you think you can give me another reward?”

“……” Was she going to ask for money again?

Thought Gu Shao to himself as his temples throbbed.

Luckily, Gu Xi did not ask for money this time.

“I want to go to NTN,” said Gu Xi.

She had looked into it in the past. The Youth Innovation Competition was one of the competitions that NTN paid a lot of attention to. Many of the participants in the past even received opportunities to intern at NTN after the competition.

Gu Xi, too, wanted to go. She would be even happier if she could make the list of those that NTN wanted to prime.
