Chapter 49: The Center of Everyone’s Attention

The little guy was very agile. It only took him a while to reach the opposite of the street and disappear into the crowd.

Yan Chengchi narrowed his eyes and stared at his back. He was annoyed.

He was deceived by a three-year-old child twice!

However, his heart would ache when he remembered that the kid said he didn’t have a father.

He was such a cunning kid. Maybe he had made up a story about his background and lied to him?

“Shall we go after him, Young Master Chi?” The bodyguard at his side asked respectfully.

There was a gleam in Yan Chengchi’s eyes, and he said, “There’s no need to. We shall go to the production unit first.”

A strange kid did not warrant too much of his attention.

The reporters waiting on the set were electrified when Yan Chengchi’s limousine drove slowly into the production unit.

Yan Corporation was the biggest corporation in G City. It had subsidiaries in every sector of the economy, ranging from financial to entertainment. Furthermore, Yan Chengchi was the heir that appeared from nowhere. He was mysterious, haughty, and distinguished.

When Yan Chengchi, who had numerous mysterious identities, appeared on set, even the most popular male actor on set paled in comparison.

The reporters rushed forward with their microphones raised high, all of them hoping to get the latest news. They were all firmly blocked by his bodyguards.

A red carpet was rolled out all the way to the stage. The director and everyone working on the set had been waiting for Yan Chengchi’s arrival for a long time.

The director rushed forward to suck up to Yan Chengchi when he saw him.

Xia Changyue was standing at the side of the stage when Yan Chengchi stepped out of his limousine. She was shocked to see him.

It was just a simple news conference for a new drama series. It was nothing in his eyes.

Why would he make his way here?

Yan Chengchi, who was surrounded by the crowd, suddenly lifted his head and looked straight at her just as she was wondering.

His deep black eyes seemed to have caught sight of her slender figure in an instant.

She looked very refreshing in her white dress. Unlike the heavily made-up actresses, she appeared the best without any makeup. However, she did apply a little of it as a form of respect for the ceremony.

She stood at the side quietly with a semi-forced smile on her palm-sized face.

A surprised glimmer flashed in her bright eyes when she saw him.

Yan Chengchi saw her surprised look, and he lowered his gaze steadily. He then proceeded to walk up the stage.

The reporters skipped over the director immediately after the news conference started. They directed the questions straight at Yan Chengchi, who was sitting in the middle of the stage.

“President Yan, we heard that the reason why Yan Corporation invested so heavily into the entertainment industry was that you want to win The Chinese Language Television Awards. Is it true?”

The female reporter held the microphone up high and looked at the man who was even more attractive than any male A-listers. She almost forgot what she was asking.

Yan Chengchi sat in his chair with both his legs crossed in a relaxed position. There did not show much expression on his handsome face.

He began to smile seductively.

“I am merely the investor of this drama series. As for what awards we are attempting to win, you have got to ask the scriptwriter of this series. She is the best person to explain the allure of this drama series.”

He threw the question to Xia Changyue as soon as he spoke.

Xia Changyue was not on the list of the prearranged speakers. At this star-studded event, everyone was more prominent than her. She was never meant to say anything.

However, all the attention from the reporters focused on her after what Yan Chengchi said.

She still couldn’t figure out why Yan Chengchi appeared at the film commencing ceremony. All of the attention made her freeze a little.
