In the hall, voices laden with skepticism grew louder and louder.

“Everyone, please calm down. If you buy this pill, as long as there aren’t any effects for five years, or if you encounter any health problems within the same period, the Xie family will cover any expenses you may incur.” Xie Mingyu said as he appeared with a warm smile. His words immediately soothed the excited audience.

Everyone was shocked by the Xie family’s generosity, but Yan Xin couldn’t care less about Mingyu. Right now, her focus was only looked at the black-robed man.

“Do you want to buy it?” Qingcang asked. His gaze went from her pursed lips to the man clad in black. 

“No.” Yan Xin didn’t know what they had in mind, but normal people definitely wouldn’t know how much it would cost to refine such a pill. She, on the other hand, knew exactly how much it cost, because she’d tried and failed so many times at her attempts at refining it that it had left behind a very clear memory. 

“Mingyu, can you give that to me?” Yan Xin didn’t even need to look to know that the person who’d spoken was the Second Young Mistress of the Yan family. As expected of someone who was all breasts and no brains, she supposed, but she couldn’t bring herself to care.

“I want to buy it.” Qingcang piped up. The old man back home had asked him to buy it, but he couldn’t help but feel a little wary of that pill. He was afraid that the old man would end up mind-controlled if he ate it, and that would be troublesome.

“The medicine is fine,” Yan Xin suddenly said, giving him a fright.

“Okay, then.” In an instant, Qingcang managed to compose himself. He had seen Yan Xin’s strange behavior before; back then, she’d used these weird moves to save his life, so he trusted her words completely.

“Oh right, thank you, Second Mistress Yan, for reminding us to provide the base price.” After Mingyu said this, he returned the microphone to the host and led the black-robed man off the stage.

“Where are you going?” After the host announced the price and the rules, Yan Xin saw the black-robed man head backstage. She immediately made to follow him, but was held back by Qingcang.

“I’m going to take a look at that person,” Yan Xin said very seriously.

“Okay.” Actually, Qingcang was not interested in the pill; he just felt that the black-robed man was very suspicious, so he decided to accompany Yan Xin backstage to see if there was anything special about him.

“I’ll be fine on my own. Wouldn’t want you to get hurt, after all,” Yan Xin said. She hadn’t been able to grasp the magic levels of that black-clad man just now, and she wasn’t confident that she could protect Qingcang if it came down to it. 

“It’s okay. I can take care of myself,” he reassured her, and Yan Xin rolled her eyes at his words. However, Liu Qing Cang was really curious; he had investigated the black-robed man for so many years and found nothing, but since an opportunity had presented itself today, there was no way he was going to miss it.

The two of them silently followed the black-robed man all the way to the back door of the hotel, which was situated at a narrow alley.

“Why are you following me?” Sure enough, they were quickly discovered by the black-robed man. As the man slowly turned around to face them, Qingcang grabbed onto Yan Xin’s hand and pulled her close. 

“Are you strong enough to fight him?” he asked, not daring to make a sound.

“No,” she said calmly.

The moment she turned her head to him, she found her words caught in her throat; Qingcang had kissed her. 

“What are you doing?!”

This man deserved to be killed!

“Mate, we just want a quiet place to do our things. Are you going to disturb our fun?” After kissing Yan Xin, Qingcang turned back to the man in black and asked.

The black-robed man did not say anything, instead turning around to leave.

“You!” Yan Xin desperately wiped her lips, blinded by rage. “You lech, you dare take advantage of me?!”

“You—”
