42. Don’t abandon me (2)

Sohee found herself clapping at Deon for doing such a difficult stunt.

Sohee scanned Deon carefully while he was sitting with his legs crossed.

“Your nose had stopped bleeding.”

Deon’s face turned red.

“What the hell was that painting?”

“I don’t know. Someone must have drawn it and gave it to me as a gift.”

“What kind of pervert is that?”

Deon wrinkled his nose in disgust, looking like he was ready to tear the culprit into pieces.

But then, she happened to make eye contact with him.

Deon’s fierce aura quickly dissipated and his eyes became more docile.

“I missed you, Ari.”

So-hee blinked at the the sincerity of Deon’s words.

She wasn’t used to to him being this serious.

As he got up from his seat, So-hee froze on the bed before moving away when he got closer.

Eventually, the distance between them narrowed until her back had leaned against the headboard.

When he reached the edge of the bed, Deon didn’t come any closer.

He was satisfied with just looking at her appearance.

Facing his grey gaze, So-hee suddenly remembered an incident she had almost forgotten.

Deon must have been the one who hurt Joshua!

The culprit was right here in front of her.

“Deon.” They were the only people in the room, but So-hee still lowered her voice just in case someone was listening.  “Did you order someone to kill Joshua?”

His brows furrowed in confusion.

“Did someone try to kill Joshua?”  Deon repeated before he continued with a grim expression, “That’s a great plan. I shall do that later.”

Yes, of course.

Again, she had overestimated Deon if she thought he was the culprit.

In fact, even if Deon did something like that, there was no way that a culprit would tell the truth.

Nevertheless, Deon, who just told her that he would attempt to kill Joshua in the future, wasn’t acting like how a criminal should behave.

So, who was the real culprit?

Sohee narrowed her eyes while she got lost in her thoughts.

Deon reached out to grab Sohee’s left arm gently.

She flinched in surprise and tried to pull away from him but he immediately released her without a fight.

“Ari, you seem to be doing well. You’re almost better.”

The corners of Deon’s eyes would usually crinkle every time he smiled at her.

They were doing it right now.

“You look healthy and—-”

He paused for a moment, swallowing his dry saliva.

Then, Deon examined her peerless ivory face that he could only imagine during their separation.

He got concerned when he felt Adam’s apple bob up and down.

He wanted to have her because she was all he ever wanted.

Even while Deon was locked up in the tower and even a few days ago, the sight of her, being carried by Joshua as they walked away from him, made Deon endlessly despondent.

The reason it had to be that way was that Ariad’s figure being embraced like that didn’t look all that bad.

That’s why I’m grumpy for nothing.

Feeling impatient at the lack of response in the long silence, Deon tried to persuade her.

“Promise me one thing. It doesn’t matter if you’re lying when you told me you loved me.”

It was a fact he was already aware of.

Ariad’s love wasn’t sincere at all

Even after spending the night passionately wishing for each other’s bodies, she was the kind of woman who could leave the next day without any regrets.

Deon wanted to believe it was love, but he knew it wasn’t.

“Let me stay by your side.” His husky voice came closer.

Deon’s fingers grabbed Sohee’s chin and raised it, both lips a hairbreadth away.

Since he could no longer suppress the need to kiss her, Deon lowered his head.

However, So-hee turned her chin to the side without realizing it.

Their misaligned gazes met again at some point.

Deon tried to stop his heart from seething as he stared into Ariad’s purple eyes.

‘If Joshua and Ariad’s love were mutual——’

He didn’t want that stupid assumption to be true.

Even if he closed that particular door, it had quickly spread like smoke squeezing between the gaps and had spread in his mind.

‘If you still choose Joshua in the end…’

Deon’s face crumpled at the horrifying conclusion.

“Ari, don’t abandon me.”

Even if she chose him or not….
