The god of this world had abandoned Ariad.

Otherwise, Ariad’s pregnancy couldn’t be so accurate in the midst of a highly twisted plot development.

At first, she had useless expectations for the reality that had yet to come.

Maybe.

Just maybe.

This child could be Joshua’s.

It wasn’t that ridiculous considering the fact that she had sex with both men except that Joshua penetrated her a short time later than Deon.

However, that expectation gradually collapsed since she had written that Ariad would have Deon’s child. Unfortunately, from the moment Sohee became Ariad, that was the only thing that went according to the synopsis and that was to have sex with Deon.

Therefore, the expectations that had been ignited gradually withered and soon disappeared like smoke. Eventually, Sohee had no choice but to assume that she would have Deon’s child.

If a child who looked like Deon was born, could she really act like it was the crown prince’s son in front of Joshua?

Even if she acted that way, the observant man would probably notice it right away.

After that, all of her thoughts were connected to the dream that she just had.

If he noticed, would he really kill her?

Could the man who was kind enough to Ariad really do that?

Such assumptions led to an easier conclusion than expected.

Up until now, Sohee had treated Joshua sweetly under the pretext of plot development.

She knew very well that love and hatred were only one step apart and it was common for anger to build up in layers before it exploded all at once.

Joshua might have held himself back multiple times already. If that anger eventually exploded at the sight of a child, not of his own bloodline———

Joshua’s character was cruel enough to put a knife through a loved one’s heart while wearing a kind smile.

Obviously, it was the writer, Han Sohee, who had set the character just like that.

Sohee put the iron plate down and walked to the lightless window.

The sun was almost setting. It was time for Joshua, who had gone to the meeting, to return soon.

While touching the cold iron plate with her hands, she suddenly reached a strange place without realizing it.

‘If she fell from a high place and suffered a miscarriage——’ At the thought, So-hee withdrew her hand out of the window in surprise.

“Sohee, you’re insane.”

She couldn’t help but reconsider such a terrible idea until she felt the fetus move in her stomach. Even if this world was virtual, it was no different from reality.

“This isn’t true.”

She leaned her back against the wall, relaxed her legs slowly, and sat down.

It seemed so natural to caress her bulging stomach that it had turned into a habit.

She stared blankly at the fireplace on the right, looking at the flames for a long time.

Many of the assumptions she made rose again along with the flames.

Joshua was a man who got rid of anything that didn’t serve him so he might treat her child like an eyesore.

In the end, if she kept holding onto Joshua’s hand, that same hand would be the one to snuff the life out of her baby.

‘Don’t tell me if that happened——’

“It’s really all my fault.”

Sohee’s heart changed just like that.

Reflecting on her actions made her feel depressed but that didn’t mean she would let go of Joshua’s hand.

She should observe the situation first before deciding on something.

So-hee raised her head at the sound of the door opening.

Joshua, who looked at the bed first, furrowed his brows and glanced around the room.

Eventually, he found her seated next to the window.

“Ariad, why the hell are you there?”

Joshua moved closer and carefully lifted her heavier frame.

“It’s not good to sit in a cold place.” He nagged gently.

So-hee answered him with a small nod.

The man who had set her down on the bed parted his lips as if he had something to say but he swallowed his words, instead.

After that, there was a dense silence.

In the end, it was Sohee who broke it.

“Do you have something to say?”

Joshua strode up to Sohee and sat on the edge of the bed.

“What are you thinking?” He asked.

“I’m not thinking about anything.”

“No, Ariad. You look very thoughtful.”

It was strange how it felt like he was seeing right through her brain, penetrating through everything.

Could he tell that she wanted to deceive him?

He wouldn’t ever know unless he was a psychic.

Feeling strange, Sohee made an excuse.

“It’s just… I’m not used to changing.”

Joshua’s gaze lowered to her rounded stomach before changing the subject to what happened this morning.

“Her Majesty will gradually change.”

Today, Bianca invited them to breakfast.

She didn’t utter as much vitriol as before, but she still glared at Ariad.

That was the attitude that Ariad had stuck with since she learned about her pregnancy.

Apparently, Ariad seemed to have a lot of worries, but Joshua thought that such problems were bound to exist.

In the end, he blurted out something she hadn’t even thought about.

“Ariad, everything is fine. I’m telling you.” A beautiful low-pitched voice rang out, giving her peace of mind. “I’m going to make it like that. Even if it’s difficult, it’ll be alright.”

But not anymore.

Was it because of the sad voice she heard in her dream every day?

So-hee could no longer feel secure after hearing his voice.

Joshua smiled and So-hee grinned in response.

With such a bright smile, he would never know even if he could see through her at first glance.

This is how she felt inside.
