Chapter 13 Welcome to Daxia Air Force Flight Command Academy

I never thought that Qin would really come here. The young man working as a chief engineer is not inferior to me, but is much more important than me.  He has given up his promising future and ran to this small temple to become a pilot.

Wait, is Dacia Air Force Flight Command Academy a small temple? To be honest, it is definitely not small. If it was, the dean would not be a lieutenant general. The Academy has been established for more than 30 years. There have been no less than one hundred generals who have come out of this school. This school will withstand the tests of time. However, for a scientific research talent like Qin, this place is too small.

Even I feel that being a pilot is not suitable for Qin. Daxia is not lacking pilots. Even if Qin becomes an ace pilot through his own efforts, there is no comparison between an ace pilot and the world’s top scientist.

“It is really messed up!” I say.

I smile bitterly and then get up. For other people, I would just have someone bring them up, but Qin is different. He has qualifications for the Lieutenant General to meet him in person.

At the entrance of the college, the soldier standing guard looks at me with interest. They did not expect that I really know Lieutenant General Wanjun. Could I be a family member? This is very likely. The soldier does not think about any other aspects of me. He cannot think of any other reason than this. But this day has surprised the soldier. Lieutenant General Wanjun has served as the dean of the college for many years. And yet he has never brought his family here before.

The Academy is very large, amazingly so. It takes Wanhun five minutes to come out of the office by car.

Swish.

“Chief!” The soldier shouts.

When he is standing guard and sees that the person who exits the car is actually Wanjun himself, a look of shock appears on his face, and he looks at me again with even more curiosity. Right then, the guard is sure that I am not Wanjun’s family member. If I was, an assistant would have picked me up, not Wanjun himself.

Which military leader’s child is this? The guard asks himself.

The soldier mentally shakes his head, as this was not very likely. Whose child could be picked up by a general? Doubts grow in the soldier’s mind as he continues to think. However, the way Wanjun addresses me makes the soldier’s eyes widen.

“We welcome Chief Engineer Qin on his search for guidance at Daxia Air Force Flight Command Academy.”

Chief Engineer Qin?

The soldier does not know my identity, but one thing is certain, this person who seems to be the same age as himself may not be much worse than Wanjun in terms of status, he may be even higher than him. Otherwise, Lieutenant General Wanjun would never show such a gesture.

“General, you must be joking. From today onwards, I will be a soldier under your command,” I say with a serious look.

It is a good greeting since I was Chief Engineer, but now that I am here, I am just a soldier without any level. Even the solder standing at the door has a higher level than me. A soldier must pay attention to strict discipline.

“Chief Qin is a good candidate for a soldier,” Wanhun laughs.

This is the first time he has come in contact with me, but it does not hinder his appreciation of me. No matter how old, a young man who had convinced Chen of their intelligence deserved the attention.

“Go, get in the car. We will go to my office and talk.”

My affairs are top secret. Although there is not a big problem talking about certain things in the Academy, there is an obvious danger of exposure.

“That sounds all right,” I do not insist otherwise, as some things cannot be changed.

Even if I think that I am a soldier here, in Wanjun’s eyes, the title of Chief Engineer cannot be surpassed no matter what.

Wanjun stretches out his hand to me.

“Wanjun, Dean of the Daxia Air Force Flight Command Academy.”

I stretch out my hand, and we clasp them together at the same time.

“Qin, Chief Engineer of the Third Generation Aero Engine project, now a soldier at the Academy.”

“Have you really decided to do this?” Wanjun asks.

Even though I came here, Wanjun cannot help but make sure.

“I have really decided! General Wanjun should know about the email I sent three months ago,” I say.”

“I have seen your determination, but… to be honest, you should be in the front line of scientific research. Being a pilot is a loss for the entire country. Because of you, Chen called me half an hour ago to threaten me.”

Chen? I think.

“Deputy Chief Engineer Chen?”

“Yes.”

I become silent. I know that people like Chen want me to stay, and even Wanjun has the same hope. For a country, scientific research is the best way to change the destiny of a country. Pilots are equally precious, but scientific researchers like me are a waste of human resources as a pilot. This matter is still unknown to higher ranks, otherwise, Wanjun and Chen would have been yelled at.

“Mr. Qin…”

“Just call me Qin.”

“Qin, you know, being a pilot is not as easy as you think,” Wanjun reminds me to try and persuade me to give up the idea.

Not only is it difficult, but it is also more dangerous. If something happens to me at the Academy, Wanjun will be blamed as the Dean. Chen resolved himself to kill him at that time. Even he would not be able to forgive himself.

“I know this,” I say.

I have never thought of giving up easily on things that have been decided long ago. Wanjun is an iron blooded soldier with a reputation for acting decisively, so seeing as I did not hesitate, he says no more. Instead, he raises his other hand and puts it on my shoulder firmly.
