The next day after the Conferment Ceremony.

Before this I was holing myself in my room the whole time in a dumbfounded state. Then Tou-san summoned me at the evening.

Normally, the whole family would be in the dining hall chatting at this time.

But this day, Tou-san summoned me alone in his office.

Like this, I got banished from the capital where I was born and raised and left behind my kind family.

I departed at the middle of night.

The timing when everyone was asleep was picked. I left behind the imperial capital without anybody else knowing except my family.

This was my first time leaving the city by myself but, my family hadn’t only taught me swordsmanship, but also various other things like economy and city structure with actual practice, so I didn’t feel that inconvenienced. I also had money with me.

But as expected, the despair and feeling of loss of suddenly losing everything out of nowhere hit my heart hard.

Everything was the fault of this Gift that I received yesterday.

I was looking down on my status card in a daze within the shaking carriage.
