Joy applied some powder on Chi Wan’s face which made her pale face look even more haggard and cold. “Use your skills.”

Chi Wan’s lips curled. She sat on a chair on the elevated platform and looked at the sea of dark heads. A hint of self-deprecation surfaced at the corners of her lips.

It was the first time she enjoyed the attention of so many people.

Unfortunately, it might be her last time.

“Miss Chi, you’ve probably seen today’s news! What exactly is your relationship with the Second Young Master of the Wen family?” 

“Did you have sexual relations with him?”

“Miss Chi, rumors said that you’re Second Young Master Wen’s secret lover. Is this true?”

“How long have you been together with Young Master Wen? Who initiated it?”

“How many times has this happened? On behalf of all netizens, I would like to ask how much Second Young Master Wen offered to pay you?”

The questions became more ridiculous and offensive. The reporters were evidently trying to distort the truth to fit their assumptions.

All the while, Chi Wan kept quiet until a strange voice appeared.

“A photo showed that Miss Chu was dragged into the room by Young Master Wen. Can I say that it was Second Young Master who wanted to take advantage of you?”

This contradictory subject popped up in the midst of those degrading questions that were directed towards Chi Wan.

Deep down, the other reporters believed that the person who asked this question must be somebody sent by Chi Wan’s company to clear her name.

Joy held his breath in anticipation as he observed everything from behind the scenes. He began to smile.

Meanwhile, a man who was coming down from the second floor overheard the words and stopped in his tracks. His usually calm gaze shifted.

The reporters stared at Chi Wan intently, waiting for her response.

Chi Wan kept her head up high and smiled proudly like a haughty queen. She emanated a piercing charisma, yet there was a certain hint of sadness in her eyes.

“Everyone, I don’t know Second Young Master Wen at all.”

“I was drunk and as a result, I kissed him. Mr. Wen is a gentleman and he brought me into the room to sober me up.”

“What I want to say is, he got into this mess because of me. He’s… He’s a good man. He never violated me in any way. I was alone and asleep in the room. Nothing happened the next morning and he had already left.”

She scanned the crowd and uttered the last three words, “That is all.”

Silence, a long silence…

Rage colored Joy’s expression. He looked at her threateningly and could not wait to strangle her!

That was not how the script went!

It was the complete opposite!

Behind the scenes, the man with the enigmatic yet charming pair of eyes looked on. A look of disbelief appeared on his face.

This woman rejected it?! And she had the cheek to defend Wen Mo too!

She was willing to give up her future, her career, and even her life, all for a stranger!

Why?

Even Chi Wan did not know. She simply did so without much hesitation.

The company wanted her to pin the blame on that man. They wanted her to say that she had been forced and Wen Mo used his power to pressure and take advantage of her. As a result, she refused and struggled to break free with all her might.

If she made that statement coupled with the company’s damage control department, not only would she clear her name, but she would also become famous because of her tenacity and refusal to back down.
