Chapter 430: Chapter 430: Negotiation, Jumping Off the Building, Screaming Caroline
On the fourth floor of the Monte Carlo Casino, in a room deep within another room, Benekoff-Robert sat in a chair, back against the window, with a large gambling table in front of him.
Four bodyguards stood expressionless behind Benekoff and on both sides of the room’s entrance, dressed in black suits and holding pistols openly, keeping a close watch on Luo An and Caroline.
Hearing the word “break a hand,” it was difficult not to think of Javari’s severed hand.
However, Caroline responded quickly with a cold voice:
“We can play the game, and betting hands is also fine.
But Mr. Benekoff, are you sure you want to play cards at this time? There’s a group of people outside waiting for you.”
Hearing Caroline’s words, Benekoff chuckled, tossed his cards aside, and said:
“Miss Yevdokiya makes a good point, please take a seat.”
Caroline sat down, with Luo An standing behind her. A bodyguard came forward and poured two cups of coffee for Caroline and Benekoff. Benekoff took a sip and asked directly:
“I wonder what suggestions Miss Yevdokiya might have?”
Following Luo An’s earlier instructions, Caroline said lightly:
“It’s simple, shift the blame to someone else.”
Caroline said that since their organization had three leaders in Europe, and both MI6 and the CIA had their attention on Benekoff, he could easily shift the blame to one of the other two leaders. Claim that the mastermind is that leader, and Benekoff was just helping out.
By then, Benekoff could leverage the CIA and MI6 to eliminate that leader, thereby getting rid of the trouble and expanding his own sphere of influence–killing two birds with one stone.
Of course, Benekoff was currently being watched by the CIA and MI6, so doing this alone might be difficult, therefore Caroline could offer help as a third party.
However, there’s no such thing as a free lunch in the world. Once this matter is settled, Benekoff would need to share a part of his Eastern European business with Caroline, including half of the business of the leader taking the fall.
Clap! Clap! Clap!
After hearing Caroline’s words, Benekoff’s eyes flickered, and he smiled as he applauded:
“I didn’t expect Miss Yevdokiya, at such a young age, to have such a big appetite.”
“When I was little, my father died early, and parts of the family business were taken away by some people.”
Caroline smiled faintly, her hands folded on her lap, and said softly:
“But I wasn’t angry at the time because I knew those people would take good care of the business they snatched away.
Indeed, by the time I grew up, the value of those businesses had increased tenfold, so I took them back one by one.
To express my thanks, I sent those who took my business, along with their entire families, to meet my father, letting my father personally express his gratitude.”
Hearing this, Benekoff’s smile grew wider, but he did not agree immediately; instead, he asked in return:
“Then Miss Yevdokiya, how do I know you can achieve what you claim to do?”
Benekoff was still unable to confirm whether Caroline’s words were true or false. However, since she dared to say so, he did not mind going with the flow and using her.
Unfazed by his words, Caroline followed Luo An’s plan, waved her hand, took a small sip of the coffee on the table, and whispered:
“Brian.”
“Understood, miss.”
Luo An nodded, showed a smile to Benekoff, then turned and walked toward the bodyguard standing on the left side of the door, holding a gun. He looked up at the bodyguard for a second, smiled broadly, and suddenly punched the man in the chest.
Thud–
Luo An moved so fast and with such tremendous force that the bodyguard couldn’t react before being knocked back against the wall. Luo An seized the moment to grab the bodyguard’s gun-wielding right hand, pointed the barrel at the bodyguard on the right side of the door, and pulled the trigger directly.
Bang!
The likewise unprepared bodyguard was shot in the head. The two bodyguards by the window finally reacted, raising their weapons to aim and fire at Luo An.
Bang bang bang–
Amidst the flashing movement, Luo An shifted behind the bodyguard in his hands, using him as cover. He raised the pistol and swept left and right, rapidly firing the trigger.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
Four shots rang out, and the two bodyguards by the window fell to the ground. Luo An let go of the unfortunate bodyguard in front of him, who had been shot by his teammates, strode to the door, and jammed a chair firmly against the door handle.
All of this happened so fast that within the blink of an eye, four bodyguards had been stripped of breath. Benekoff’s expression changed drastically, and he suddenly stood up, grabbed Caroline’s hand, pulled out a gun, and pressed it against her head:
“Miss Yevdokiya, what do you mean by this? Who the hell are you?”
“You’ll know after a good sleep.”
Bang!
Luo An raised his hand and fired a shot, hitting Brenekoff’s gun-wielding hand precisely. The pain caused Brenekoff to drop the gun to the floor. Without waiting for the furiously-faced Brenekoff to speak, Luo An quickly moved to his side, pulled out a bottle of sleeping potion from behind his buttocks, forced Brenekoff’s mouth open, and poured it all in.
Before the operation, Luo An had gone to a pharmacy and, in the presence of Mona and Caroline, he had pretended to mix some medicines haphazardly, so Caroline was not puzzled by the sleeping potion that made Brenekoff fall asleep quickly.
But Caroline was shocked by another thing. She widened her eyes in question:
“Luo An, how did you bring this in? Are the guys who searched your body outside blind?”
“Secret.”
The gunshot in the room had already caught the attention of the bodyguards outside, who were banging on the door. Luo An winked at Caroline without explanation, pushed the unconscious Brenekoff towards her, and said:
“Watch him, call Mona, tell her our location, and ask her to go downstairs.”
Putting away the pistol and moving to the window, Luo An tore down the curtains, shredded them, and quickly tied it into a long rope, one end fastened to the gambling table in the room, the other end around his waist.
While tearing the curtains, Luo An took the opportunity when Caroline wasn’t paying attention, and poured a bottle of “Featherfall Potion” into his stomach.
Caroline, struggling to support Brenekoff, was confused to see Luo An only tying a rope around himself and asked:
“What about mine?”
“What about yours? Here, bite this.”
Luo An stuffed a piece of the torn curtain cloth into Caroline’s mouth, kicked the glass window open, then, with his left arm around Caroline and right arm around Brenekoff, and his thigh pinning Brenekoff’s computer that was on the gambling table, he jumped out the window in front of Caroline’s shocked face.
“Ah–”
As it turned out, Luo An had overestimated the use of the torn cloth, as Caroline, out of fear, started screaming the moment they jumped out of the window.
Especially because they were in a hurry and the rope wasn’t long enough, as the three hung unable to descend from the second floor, Caroline became even more scared and her screams grew louder.
By then, Mona had already parked the car downstairs and was ready. Luo An let go of his right arm, throwing the sleeping Brenekoff and his computer onto the roof of Mona’s car. Following the pre-arranged plan, Mona shoved Brenekoff into the car, retrieved a lifelike dummy from inside the car, dropped it to the ground, and then quickly drove away from the area.
Following that, Luo An untied the rope from his waist, jumped to the ground holding Caroline.
“Ah–”
Thud!
Landing safely on the ground, Caroline still screamed with her eyes tightly shut, her hands clutching Luo An’s without letting go.
“They’re there!”
“Quick, downstairs!”
“Go down and catch them!”
At that moment, several heads suddenly popped out from the room upstairs accompanied by shouting. Luo An raised his pistol and fired, then firmly slapped Caroline’s pretty face that was in his arms:
“Stop screaming!”
Before Caroline could react, Luo An picked up the dummy from the ground, stuffed it and Caroline into the back seat of another car Mona had prepared in advance.
Next, Luo An climbed into the driver’s seat, driving the car rapidly in the opposite direction of Mona’s.
Brenekoff’s bodyguards followed in pursuit by car, while the CIA and MI6, who were testing each other after the recent explosion, heard the commotion, exchanged a look, and also joined the car chase.
Therefore, on the streets of Monaco during the night, tourists were dumbfounded to witness the rare sight of one car leading a chase of a dozen vehicles.
Watching the cars behind that were stubbornly chasing his tail, Luo An chuckled and, under Caroline’s horrified gaze, operated the steering wheel with one hand while calling Mona with the other:
“How’s it going on your end?”
“I’m doing well.”
In a basement somewhere, Mona was fiddling with Brenekoff’s computer and replied:
“How much longer do you need on your end?”
Luo An glanced at the rear-view mirror, selectively ignoring Caroline’s terrified screams, and said calmly:
“Give me five minutes.”
