From the driver’s seat, Caroline sat face to face in Luo An’s lap, her arms tightly wrapped around his chest. She watched the flames burning close behind in the backseat, saying nothing, asking nothing. Her expression remained unchanged, only pressing her head firmly against Luo An’s shoulder.

The moment the car hit the water, exclamations erupted from the yacht guests. Some grabbed cameras to take pictures while others called the police. The crew members who had been patrolling the area immediately started their yachts and headed towards the site of the submerged vehicle.

Meanwhile, on a nearby street, three cars screeched to a halt at the curb. Several individuals quickly got out and ran to the broken railing to peer down.

Seeing several yachts circling a bubbling spot, their faces turned exceedingly grim.

People from different organizations looked at each other, then with a cold snort, they returned to their cars, reporting the situation while driving off towards the harbor to ascertain the exact state of the car.

As various parties rushed to the location where the car had plummeted into the sea, trying to deploy divers and inspect the situation, on the other side of the harbor, near a yacht moored at the edge in a dark spot lacking light, a man and a woman slowly surfaced from the water.

Caroline was now completely exhausted, her body trembling slightly from the cold seawater. Luo An lifted her from the water, cradling her as they entered the cabin prepared earlier on the yacht.

Handing a towel and fresh clothes to Caroline, Luo An left the room. He stood in the living room changing his clothes while phoning Mona:

“Where are you at with your step?”

“I’m almost at the last step; the CIA’s enhanced truth serum works well, Brenekoff said a lot.”

In the basement of a certain room, Mona glanced up at Benekoff-Robert, who had passed out on a chair nearby, and then, while tapping at the computer, she asked:

“How’s your situation? How’s Caroline?”

During today’s operations, Luo An had no choice but to drag Caroline along. Among the three of them, only Mona was adept with computers, interrogation, surveillance, and counter-surveillance, so the task of driving away first with Brenekoff had to be hers.

Luo An driving in the opposite direction with Caroline was meant to cover for Mona.
