Chapter 432: Chapter 432: Clues, The Thirty-Six Stratagems, Harvest, Open Conspiracy
On the yacht, Luo An took off his wet clothes and packed them in a backpack, preparing to take away and dispose of them along with the wet clothes Caroline had removed.
Hearing Mona mention that Javari was still alive, Luo An, while slipping into new clothes, asked:
“Where is he?”
“In some underground bunker in Albania.”
Mona on the other end of the phone tapped the keyboard a few times before answering:
“That place is under the control of Brenekoff, a trafficking hub for his crime organization.”
Luo An nodded in understanding:
“OK, I’ll head back soon.”
After hanging up the phone, Luo An contemplated the situation in Albania. Because of an unreliable leader, this small nation’s land was covered with bunkers, and it had even solicited nearly one million firearms, billions of bullets, a large number of tanks, and airplanes from other countries.
Before long, due to a Ponzi scheme, the nation’s finances and its people went bankrupt, allowing various gangs and criminal organizations to rise rapidly in a short time, making human trafficking their core business.
Thinking of this, Luo An felt a slight headache.
The good news was, for their trip to Albania, they didn’t have to worry about weapons and ammunition, since the least valuable thing there was weaponry – AK bullets could be bought for about two cents each.
The bad news was, the guards responsible for holding Javari weren’t short on weapons, and considering that ordinary citizens there could drive tanks to go shopping, those guards probably had tanks aplenty too…
After a few seconds of contemplation, plans from A to Z slowly emerged in Luo An’s mind. Having changed his clothes, he walked towards the deeper rooms of the yacht and knocked on a door:
“Caroline, how are you doing?”
“I’m all packed.”
The door quickly opened, Caroline still looking a bit pale. She stuffed her wet clothes into the backpack that Luo An was holding, and then left the area with him by car.
On the way, Luo An shared with Caroline that Mona had found Javari, and Caroline’s face lit up with joy. Then after some thought, she looked down and began to count on her fingers.
Luo An asked with some confusion:
“What are you calculating?”
“I’m going through your plans for the past few days.”
Caroline said this in Mandarin while counting on her fingers and spoke with admiration:
“There’s an ancient Eastern book called ‘The Thirty-Six Stratagems’. Starting from your journey from the Federation to Europe, you’ve utilized numerous strategies from this book: Deceive the heavens to cross the sea, Create something from nothing, Make noise in the east, then strike in the west, March through the unguarded pass, Hide a knife behind a smile, Startle the snake by hitting the grass, Capture the leader in order to capture the gang, Shed your skin like a golden cicada, Steal the bell whilst covering one’s ears, Desperate straits require desperate measures…”
“Stop!”
As Caroline listed more and more increasingly absurd idioms, Luo An with an exasperated look interrupted her:
“I believe those last few phrases are not from ‘The Thirty-Six Stratagems’.”
“Really?”
Caroline blinked, then expressed that Eastern culture was too complex. She thought understanding this much was already quite an achievement and minor mistakes should be overlooked.
Then Caroline stared at Luo An with wide eyes, switched back to English, and smiling, asked:
“So, how do you plan on rescuing my father next? Still going to use phrases from that book?”
“Maybe.”
Luo An wasn’t entirely sure yet. Minutes later, he drove off from Monaco, entering France.
——–
As a wealthy tycoon who cared greatly about his own safety, Mr. Benekoff-Robert had spent a fortune to implant a location chip in his arm.
Unfortunately for him, Luo An had anticipated this possibility. Although he couldn’t be one hundred percent sure, out of caution and just in case, Luo An still had Mona prepare a jammer. As soon as Benekoff was stuffed into the car, Mona followed Luo An’s plan and directly tied the jammer around his stomach.
After the effects of the [sleep-inducing drug] wore off, Benekoff woke up. Finding himself tied to a chair, he wasn’t too flustered and even managed a slight smile, demonstrating his composed demeanor.
But upon lowering his head and seeing the object tied around his stomach, and then noticing a woman with a mask injecting something into him with a syringe, Benekoff’s complexion changed dramatically, and he finally lost his composure cursing out loud.
Luo An and Caroline arrived at the basement, only to see a drooling, mumbling Brenekoff with his head hanging down. Both were taken aback for a moment; Caroline frowned and looked towards Mona:
“Did you turn him into an idiot?”
“Probably not, Brenekoff’s physique is just not up to par, and it wasn’t on purpose.”
Mona spread her hands, somewhat helpless, indicating that the dose of the truth serum she injected into Brenekoff was the same amount as what Luo An had given to those two guys guarding the piano shop.
But Brenekoff was a bit old and had hollowed out his body with wine and women, hence he ended up in such a state.
“Forget it, it’s not important.”
Caroline wanted to say more, but Luo An waved his hand, walked over to Mona, and bent down to look at the interrogation records she had been organizing.
Mona had asked many questions, with a wide variety of content–information about her father Javari, lots of information about that human trafficking crime organization, and Brenekoff’s own bank accounts and secret bank numbers.
What was somewhat surprising was that although Brenekoff was a rich man, with several companies on the surface, those companies were fixed assets, and there wasn’t much cash flow. His real substantial assets were those trafficked women and children, and a messy underworld industry.
Yet, these things couldn’t be easily converted into legal funds. After a lot of back and forth interrogations, Mona finally got Brenekoff to reveal a secret account with 130 million euros in it, Brenekoff’s retirement fund prepared for himself.
“Reesi would probably be green with envy knowing about such a retirement fund.”
Luo An chuckled and decisively had Mona transfer the retirement funds to another bank account. Caroline, watching this scene, had stars in her eyes and after some thought, she asked:
“What are we going to do with this Benekoff-Robert guy next?”
“Muddy the waters, framing and entrapment.”
Luo An chuckled, no nonsense, pulled out a pistol, and sent Benekoff-Robert straight to hell to atone for his sins.
Then Luo An patted Mona on the shoulder, and said:
“Mona, send a message to one of the people in charge of this crime organization in Greece saying: ‘The order has been completed, the subsequent payment should be transferred into the original account in the stipulated time, happy cooperation.’
Besides, this message should be ‘accidentally’ leaked, preferably discovered by MI6 or CIA.”
As mentioned before, Brenekoff was only one of the three people responsible for the European operations of this human trafficking crime organization, with the other two in the United Kingdom and Greece.
The three heads seemed to get along on the surface, but privately, each one wanted to kick the other two out and monopolize the business.
After receiving the message, the person in charge in Greece would know someone was framing him, but he would never admit to being set up, and would immediately try to snatch the business and territory left by Brenekoff’s death.
CIA and MI6 would be skeptical of the truth of this matter, but they had no choice; after all, they had found a clue “through their own efforts,” and since the person in charge in Greece benefited the most afterwards, they would investigate him first.
By then, the person in charge in Greece and CIA, MI6 will fight each other to death, the European underworld will be in chaos, and everyone’s attention will be drawn by them, allowing Luo An and his group to quietly get Javari out.
–Snap, snap, snap–
Realizing this point, Caroline looked at Luo An with full admiration and clapped for him, exclaiming:
“Luo An, you are so awesome, this is what’s called a ‘action on the sunlight’ in the East, right?”
Luo An chuckled:
“Don’t stop, keep going, I love hearing it.”
“…”
Upon hearing this, Caroline rolled her eyes, and Mona, who was sitting beside her, tapped on the keyboard and asked:
“So, are we heading to Albania next?”
“NO.”
Luo An hesitated for a few seconds, slowly shook his head, and took out his phone saying:
“I need to make a phone call first.”
Mona and Caroline were both puzzled:
“Calling who?”
“Mrs. Hanover.”
“?”x2
