The driver was on call and promptly arrived upon hearing Zhou Shengting’s call.

Zhou Shengting watched, his heart aching with compassion, but there was nothing he could do except offer comfort from beside her.

The car raced through the road swiftly and steadily.

As it was night, the streets were empty, allowing them to reach the hospital quickly.

No sooner had the car stopped than doctors and nurses came with a stretcher.

Just when Bai Lan was in so much pain she almost passed out, she was finally wheeled into the delivery room.

Zhou Shengting intended to follow her in, but Bai Lan firmly grabbed him, not allowing him to enter.

She felt that childbirth was a very private matter and the scene could be embarrassing.

So, she insisted that he stay out.

Concerned that she might be distracted by his presence, Zhou Shengting ultimately agreed.
