Chapter 1342: Chapter 1341 Mutual Praise
Bai Lan was sitting in the cafe, talking to Shu Pan about her life.
Strangely enough, they hit it off right away and really had endless things to talk about.
Shu Pan couldn’t help but sigh, “Who would have thought Bai Lan’s love life was so full of twists? It really rivals my own, huh?”
“Yeah, as long as you’re happy now,” Shu Pan consoled. In fact, their experiences were somewhat similar, which was probably why they became close friends so quickly.
“The definition of happiness is different for everyone, but contentment brings joy,” Bai Lan nodded. She had come to terms with a lot in life, especially after a stint in the hospital and a brush with death. What was there not to let go of?
“That’s the best way to think about it,” Shu Pan nodded in agreement.
“I’m so envious of you, with both a son and a daughter–truly a winner in life.” Bai Lan had always wanted a sweet daughter but, unfortunately, her health had not cooperated.
“What’s there to envy? It’s just wanting a daughter, right? I’ll bring Joy to play with you next time,” Shu Pan said with a laugh.
“Deal. You don’t know how envious I am. Look at my boy, scowling all day long, as if the world owes him money.” Bai Lan complained. Her son was growing up and becoming less fun by the day.
“Kids grow up and become more serious; you’ll have to get used to it,” Shu Pan said, smiling. Not to mention the older ones, even Xiaobao, who was only 6 or 7 years old, could get pretty cool at times.
Just last night, he had seriously told her that he was grown up now and that in the future, they should call him Shu Kang, not Xiaobao.
He was so earnest about it, acting all grown-up, that both his dad and she couldn’t help but laugh.
Kids these days are such handfuls, truly impossible to deal with.
“Yeah, as he grows up, I’m getting old–nearing forty feels quite terrifying,” Bai Lan shrugged helplessly.
Because she took good care of herself, Bai Lan seemed to others to be just over thirty.
Her demeanor was gentle, her dress sense impeccable, which made her look quite youthful.
“Nonsense, you’re still young and beautiful. Didn’t you see a few young guys glancing over at you just now?” Shu Pan teased.
“They were looking at you, okay?” Bai Lan retorted, not feeling too good about it, but actually, she thought Shu Pan never aged.
She had a slim figure, but she did not lack curves where it mattered. Up close, she couldn’t spot any fine lines on her face.
“Sister, have some confidence,” Shu Pan chuckled.
They chatted for a long time until Shu Pan’s phone rang, and they paused.
“Madam, where are you?” It was Gu Shaoting on the other end of the line, their relationship having grown much more harmonious recently.
“I’m out chatting with Bai Lan, have you come back?” Shu Pan asked, knowing Gu Shaoting had been away on a business trip.
“Yeah, I’m back. When I couldn’t find you at home, it felt like something was missing,” Gu Shaoting spoke affectionately. He had been well ‘trained’ to be quite the romantic now.
“Don’t talk nonsense; I’m still outside,” Shu Pan said, still unaccustomed and blushing at sweet nothings after all these years.
“I’ll come pick you up; send me the address.” Gu Shaoting truly missed her as if they had been apart for an eternity.
Shu Pan felt a bit troubled but Bai Lan seemed to guess her thoughts, nodding at her and gesturing that it was time to leave.
Shu Pan awkwardly smiled and then gave him the address.
After ending the call, Bai Lan teased, “Wow, I’m so envious. Mr. Gu is really considerate.”
